Women and girls 13 and 14 got married with parents consent, but who in the hell doesn't understand *ARTISTIC FREEDOMS?* What if a grown 50 year old wrote this about a time when he was 18 and the girl was 16? Never heard the song tbh, but a song is like a book, just because Stephen King writes a book at 80 doesn't mean its about him per se.
Muskrat Love was a sweet song. It was poetry, not a wildlife documentary. 😊 Give Ringo a break. "You're Sixteen" was first a hit by somebody else when he was 21.
Muskrat Love was very popular and brings back fond memories, but best kept in the 70s. Disco Duck signaled the end of disco - geesh I hated that song. The Captain and Tennille also did Love Will Keep Us Together which was another hit. You guys need to raise the music volume or lower yours a bit. I love listening to your comments but they were drowning out the music on this one. Thanks for the memories!
Disco Duck did not signal the end of disco, it was released before the Bee Gees and Donna Summer took over the airwaves with their massive disco hits! And then Kiss, Rod Stewart, Cher and others jumped on the band wagon.
I guess that's just how I remember it. Disco duck certainly did it for me, lol. Wait a minute, KISS did a disco song?? I must have amnesia to have forgotten that! @@abdeton1899
"You're Sixteen" is a song written by the Sherman Brothers (Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman). It was first performed by American rockabilly singer Johnny Burnette, whose version peaked at number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100 in December 1960 and number 3 in the UK in 1961.
I don't no why people trash the 70's some of the best music came from this decade. No auto tune. Bee Gees, Abba, Eagles, Elvis, Michael Jackson, Olivia Newton-John, Glen Campbell and so much more, disco, people were dancing. Now they complain and do nothing but stay on there cell phones and let life pass them by.
I don't agree with this guy. I like "Pina Coladas". 1/2 the songs he calls out are not great, but the other 1/2 are not "most" hated and by "hated" not so much at the time those songs were released. Maybe a better tile, those that didn't "stand the test of time". If he doesn't like silly lines, he needs to be stay away pop music. - In defense of "Disco Duck" it was very fun and catchy. - Lastly per his criteria, does an older person need to stop singing about younger folks? Check out Abba's Dancing Queen.
Nope! you bombed muskrat love is still on my all-time playlist, especially on Valentine’s Day. Who is this guy with the list he needs to be prevented from creating any “content“ whatsoever!
Sweet Caroline was inspired by Caroline Kennedy, but it wasn't really about her. Neil Diamond just wrote a song based on her name. Johnny Burnette recorded You're Sixteen in 1960. He was 26 at the time. Lots of songs in those days were written about teenagers in love, and sung by adults. There are far creepier songs than that one, like Young Girl by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. Disco Duck was a novelty song. It was deliberately bad, so I don't think it deserves to be in the same list as Muskrat Love.
Hey there Joe, DT, and Holly! (Where's Felipe?) Paul here. I wouldn't say I HATED any of these songs. (With the possible exception of Feelings. I'm a sentimental guy, but I still don't like that song. Never have. And, I don't remember even hearing You're Having My Baby, so all I know is that the title doesn't do anything for me.) I used to sing along to You're Sixteen by Ringo Starr, but then again, back then I liked almost every song written by anybody who had one time been associated with the Beatles. I never really listened to Disco Duck, so I can't say whether I liked it or not. Overall, I liked 70s music. Then again, I was a kid and a teenager back in those days, too. Keep those reaction videos coming. Nice to see you guys again and I enjoy hearing you guys react.
Most of these were bad, and I am someone who grew up in the 70s and know these songs, however Afternoon Delight, The Pina Colada song, You're Sixteen and especially You Light Up My Life are not bad songs and as far as You're Having My Baby is concerned, it isn't really a bad song as even then it was more controversial and also Joe is right it is about a guy singing to his wife or girlfriend who is pregnant about him being happy she is having his baby not a man forcing a woman to have a baby.
I absolutely love all of those songs except 16 by Paul. I've never heard it before. Everything today just doesn't have actual music in it. It all has the basic cheerleader, linedancing tempo and there's no soul, no feelings in the voice. It's like plastic flowers. It looks like flowers but it's missing everything.
Telephone Man, Run Joey Run, How do you do, most disco and rap. Rupert Murdoch had a song called "Timothy" which was written deliberately to be banned, to get notoriety
I LOVED all the songs you mentioned! I was less than 10 so I had no taste but I thought they were great. Looking back, They should all be on the list. Afternoon Delight shouln't imo
He only plays clips of some of the songs that sound bad . Some if you play whole song it's better. ALSO Ringo did not write the you're sixteen song. Johnny Burnette 1960 sang and made it famous and it's about high school sweetheart song. Ringo didn't sing it until 1973. And you're having my baby is a song that people related to when a couple is in love and having a baby together. And some are good or ok, but they just played them too much or had to sing them too much in school that you started to dislike them lol.
Have you even listened to muskrat love? The original one, without talking through it? It's just a fun song. We called these kind of songs bubble gum songs.
Before Captain and Tennille's 1976 version, "Muskrat Love" was recorded and released by the folk-rock band America ("A Horse With No Name," "Tin Man," "Ventura Highway") in 1973. It really is a dumb song ... but fun to sing at karaoke when you're drunk. LOL ... "You're Sixteen" was first a Top 10 hit for Johnny Burnette in 1960 when he was 26 years old. Still singing about an underage girl but at least a little closer in age than Ringo at 33. Rock songs back in the day often had 20-something males singing about 16- and -17-year-old girls ... something that's rightfully so considered cringey today. The Beatles (a 21-year-old Paul McCartney) sang "She was just 17/If you know what I mean" in their 1963 hit "I Saw Her Standing There." Benny Mardones sang "She's just 16 years old/Leave her alone they say" in his 1980 hit song "Into the Night" when he was 34. And in her No. 1 cover song of "I Love Rock and Roll from 1982, Joan Jett reversed the gender and sings "I saw him standing there by the record machine/I knew he must have been about 17."
Parents wanted an established provider for their daughters whom they expected to get married and be a housewives and mothers. Therefore, guys in their mid twenties were the optimal age. That is why all this was acceptable. Look at most couples in their 70's, 80's and that have passed and you will see that 5, 7, or even 12 years older was the norm. It was the 70's when things began to change. Prior to that, even a single, well employed woman couldn't get a credit card in her name.
“Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X beat the record. Considering that what I heard the 1st 20x I listened to it was I'm gonna take my horse to the motel room...I knew it wasn't actually the words but I heard it every time. My husband plays it sometimes just to laugh at me hahaha Actually many songs have topped her 10 wks over the years. Some are downright awful but 3 are Boyz II Men so I'm ok with those
I always hated that song "Feelings"... it was everywhere and for some reason a lot of people liked it, but I never understood why. I feel like I found my musical era with alt rock in the later 80's.. artists like Sinead O'Connor and REM.. and into the 90's... 70's has some amazing songs like "Dancin in the Moonlight"... how was that not number one but "Feelings" was?? Lol Edit: Pina Colada?? What??? How is that on this list?? Lol
Not a fan of "You're Having My Baby", but it is written to pay homage to the woman who is having his baby. What's wrong with that? The two lines or whatever, make more sense within the whole song.
I agree with most of this list. I had to endure hearing these songs at the time. *You’re Having My Baby” and “Disco Duck” were so godawful I wanted to puke every time I heard them. Now that I think of it, “Afternoon Delight” and “Muskrat Love” made me feel the same way. Yuk. I actually did like (and still do) the “Pina Colada Song.” I think it’s the only song on there I would willingly listen to again. I’ll give Ringo a pass because it was just a remake and nobody thought anything of the lyrics at the time. Still, not one of his better songs.
OMG I was a kid when that Song came out and they played it so much it was the first time I ever thought about killing myself ! 🤣😋I still Hate it to this day!
Carol Burnett really demonstrated how bad the "Feelings" song is, ha! On the Carol Burnett Show she plastered that song on a skit about getting on the "Gong Show." My most hated song back then was "Hen House 5 plus Too" (In the Mood) - Ray Stevens Then it would be "Disco Duck." "Popcorn" by Hot Butter is also on my list.
I'm just now seeing this reaction, I think you guys got it wrong. Disco Duck was quite a good song during the disco era. I think the same way older generations might think of sings today and feel the same way. I love it all personally, but think about songs today. Some may not be viewed as bright. So see, it goes either way.
Muskrat Love is a terrible cringey song and lucky me, I got to hear it repeatedly every day. My sister was OBSESSED with Captain and Tenille and I was distressed to have to listen to Muskrat and more of their delightful catalog over and over until it became nauseating.
Watching this was insufferable! I could only make it through a few minutes when I found myself shouting SHUT UP! For the love of God, please shut up! I couldn't hear anything, because all of you were like 3 times louder than the video, and missed so much of what was being said. In fact, you talked so much, I believe you failed to really hear any of the songs that you didn't know.
Talk about crappy songs! "Muskrat Love" which was covered by America and then covered by The Captain & Tennille, was written by Willis Alan Ramsey. SUCH a stupid song. 🤮
You're Sixteen was a cover of a 1950s song.
Minnie Ripperton = Maya Rudolph's mother. RIP
That was Minnie Riperton Loving You that the young lady was singing.
The Ringo song was a cover of a 50s song. And the last thing I was thinking was that Ringo wanted to kiss a 16 year old. Come on…
I like the song. I am 72. What the hell. Ringo is cool.
Women and girls 13 and 14 got married with parents consent, but who in the hell doesn't understand *ARTISTIC FREEDOMS?* What if a grown 50 year old wrote this about a time when he was 18 and the girl was 16? Maya Rudolph of SNL is the daughter of Minnie Ripperton
I had no idea. Thanks for the info

I would have loved to hear what the guy who made the video was saying but couldn’t BECAUSE YOU NEVER STOPPED TALKING OVER HIM!!!!!
You’re having my baby. What a lovely way of saying how much you love.
Disco Duck got number 1 because we were all tired of Disco music! One of our ways of being rebellious.
You light up my life was the title track for a movie of the same title.
The only song on the list that is truly hated is "Disco Duck", and it was written to mock disco.
I absolutely love all of those songs except 16 by Paul. I've never heard it before. Everything today just doesn't have actual music in it. It all has the basic cheerleader, linedancing tempo and there's no soul, no feelings in the voice. It's like plastic flowers. It looks like flowers but it's missing everything.

the 70's were a weird decade in so many ways. Music was going through massive changes. Allot of treasure and allot of trash.
That's why they call it the "sagging 70s" 😁
Bullshit, you don't know what you're talking about
Sixteen is the age of consent in UK, so that person's video is misleading about Ringo.
I was 6 years old in 1976, so I personally loved Disco Duck.
Have you even listened to muskrat love? The original one, without talking through it? It's just a fun song. We called these kind of songs bubble gum songs.
There were a lot of cute FUN songs in the 70s. The idea was to have fun.

these are all good songs.
I probably like all of these
Debbie Boone song ran number one longer than any song might still hold record
“Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X beat the record. Minnie riperton is Maya Rudolph's mother from bridesmaids and Saturday night live
I’m kind of surprised that Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road didn’t make this list.
Your 16 means he was singing about a sixteen WHEN HE WAS SIXTEEN!!! You kids nowdays are not to brite are you!!!
Disco duck was a great song. It was fun to listen to and fun to dance to. Not everything has to be serious.
where's the URL for the original Channel & vid?
Minnie Ripprertines song was about daughter Maya Rudoph
Not a fan of "You're Having My Baby", but it is written to pay homage to the woman who is having his baby. What's wrong with that? The two lines or whatever, make more sense within the whole song.

Disco duck was funny
How can you react to this when he doesn’t play the song for you?
You Light Up My Life was played to death.
OMG I was a kid when that Song came out and they played it so much it was the first time I ever thought about killing myself ! 🤣😋I still Hate it to this day!
Good songs usually are
I really like most of these songs. I'm afraid I have to disagree with this list.
You people are so soft. Ringo was just covering a song from when he was young and it was understood so at the time.
Thank you!
Carol Burnett really demonstrated how bad the "Feelings" song is, ha! On the Carol Burnett Show she plastered that song on a skit about getting on the "Gong Show."

"Popcorn" by Hot Butter is also on my list.
he obviously does'ent have a clue..he should have clarified it more by songs he dislkes the most.i guarantee more people like these songs than do not.
Minnie Ripperton
Loved❤ the 70's
I love Typa Dudes!
They should have included Midnight At The Oasis by Maria Muldar!
That's weird because her name isn't pronounced Caro-line, it's pronounced Caro-lyn.😊

She was smiling because of all money that song made her!
Y'all stop talking over the video so much. Can't hear what's going on. Gezzzzz
You need to add Designing Women to your watch list.
Oh wow, some of Julia's rants would be great.

i was a child of the 70's, an i do not want to go back to the 70's! but the 80's well..........
The streak was a really bad one. King Tut by Steve Martin another bad one. Wild weed was another really bad one
Yeah but "King Tut" was satire and was meant to be tongue in cheek cheesy.
afternoon delight is a good song - Right, Joe -->A Fifth a Beethoven is a good song
Imagine Boston lost to Starland vocal band.
You talk over the songs. It ruins your videos
Minnie Ripperton
Sorry. Back in the day no one under 25 would be caught dead listening to cheesy You Light Up My Life.
Ringo is Brittish and in the UK the age of consent is 16 this is also the case in a plenty European country's, i agree it is creepy but not illegal.
You light up my life = vomit...a strong stream of vomit. I never ever want to hear that song again!
Ummm no ESCAPE should NOT have been on the list at all!!!!
Stop trying to put today's "values" on songs that were written 20 yrs ago.
The worst song on the list is 'You're Having My Baby".
😢boring list, I don't know these songs. Maybe because I was born in the 1976, sorry
Come on, you guys talking about pedophiles, same thing now a days just as Diddy and kelley!
Pause Button.....
just saying!
Disco Duck was just a stupid song.
Ghastly torture songs I totally agree with all of them. You could toss on any ABBA songs from the period as well 😂 DT has huge arms 💪💪💪😁
Some of those songs are definitely shallow trash
That's the 70s in a nutshell. I hated them.
I really liked the show but couldn't hear most of because of the talkover..😏
