You need the oil temp to be 175 degrees, not the coolant.
You are correct, I pinned your comment in hopes other people will see it as well. Unfortunately I can’t edit it to say oil temp instead of coolant temp without deleting it from UA-cam.
I just changed the oil on my 2011 Corvette grand sport, used the exact same oil, but used a K&N oil filter that was made in the USA. Thanks for making this video! W/o you I wasn't sure which drain plug to remove first!
You can cycle through the options on the dash and see the digital engine temp
Yes, that would make it easier. Thanks!
Great video. I have a grandsport with drysump. Same way
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! Never seen an oil pan with 2 drain plugs, looks like thats what i saw! Im buying a '13 grandsport tomorrow and will be servicing it when i get home. Cant wait!
Yes Fred, 2 drain plugs. Remove the front one first, then the side as this fellow did.
@@jasonmacneil2256 yep, piece of cake.
@FredFlintstone21 OH, I meant to ask you how you like your 2013 grand sport! I bought a 2011 Grand sport 6 speed, velocity yellow with 47,000 miles out of Florida this past September, and I LOVE her!!
@@jasonmacneil2256 congrats on your 2011 gs! I love mine! Gotta be careful with 5 O (the cops) out on the roads!
@FredFlintstone21 Yes Sir, ain't that the truth!! I haven't been stopped yet, amazing as it is!😁. Knock on wood! Especially with this borla exhaust she has. What color is yours? Do you live in the USA? the wife and I are in Oregon.
thats going to be a beautiful beast when its all done
Thanks, we hope so!
Thank you
No offense, but shouldnt you have the car level, or even at a slight rake with the back higher so ALL the oil drains out? Also, just wanted to say THANK YOU for showing which oil drain plug to remove first! I thought common sense would dictate the higher upper plug FIRST (as you do) and the lower one second. But another fellow on youtube with a velocity yellow grand sport like mine, did it the reverse.
No need to jack up the rear end of the vehicle to get all the oil out?
No issue doing it while tilted ? Vs flat ?
Awesome video can’t wait to buy a c6 next year for my 18 birthday🙏🏼
Wow, that would be awesome! They are great cars.
Do you need to reset the oil life remaining reminder?
Yes!
You can also disconnect the two oil lines and another 1.5 qts will come out. You'll end up needing nearly 12 quarts. I did this on my ZR1. It took just under 12 quarts to go right below the top line on the dipstick.
Was the stuff in the lines dirty enough to warrant doing that?
@@jasonmacneil2256 just as dirty as the rest of the oil
@Sbinnala thanks for the answer. Sorry man, I guess it was a stupid question.
@@sbinnala Three questions: 1. Doesn't the oil in these lines drain into pan? 2. Does anyone know the part no. of the seals or o-rings that might need replacing when you break those lines loose? 3. Are these the supply lines from reservoir or cooling lines? Thanks!
@@michaelsmaldone645715217990 is the part number. You need 2 of them. No idea why oil remains in the lines when it should go into the sump.
15 mm Metric?
Does it mean the engine oil temp or the engine coolant temp?
Engine coolant
great video, thanks....i think the temp you should be targeting to measure the oil at the dipstick is the oil temp, not the water temp though.
oil temp 175 not coolant temp
Use to pay 140$ for an oil change in NJ, just paid 320$ for one in Florida. (2012 C6 GS Manual)😢
My word
WHY?? Just do it yourself!! It's easy as you can see here!!
FYI always do the oil filter first, then loosen drain plugs
That's just dumb.
i think you need to be looking at the digital (DIC) read out of the oil temp not the engine temp.
My c6 z06 takes 8 quarts, I think the Zr1 takes more.
The later years z06 have a bigger reservoir. Like the zr1
