    Great video. I have repaired several salvage vehicles and what irritates me the most is the public and now insurance companies perception of repaired vehicles. Especially older cars where the actual damage required to total them is less than a new one. I can't sell one I have for the life of me, even if I lower the price below my cost.

      The whole world of rebuilds has changed in the last few years. We used to be able to buy a salvage title car, buy OEM parts, fix it up, and sell it and still make “decent” money. Nowadays we hope to break even.

    Hello, Your video popped up in my suggestions after a week of me searching for a 'how to' remove the section of dash cover underneath the steering wheel. I found the two screws to the left, in the door jam. But I haven't figured out what is otherwise securing it to the right. May I please ask you for guidance?

I didnt see or hear of any cleaning mud out of or investigation of inside the door panels, rocker panels, u joints, wheel bearings, wheel wells that could hold/trap mud and debris, un, brake assemblies, but with Salvage title and if it was throughly cleaned from trapped mud and debris..I think it would be worth 13k

    • @rebuildit

    I think the engine just sat for a while and things are a little gummed up along with there being some junk sitting on the valves since the compression numbers increased with each test as things got moved around a bit. You might try cleaning the valves off and using some valve lapping compound before spending the time and money to send it to a machine shop. Also the staining and small pitting in the cylinder is probably not related to the compression issue as it seems to be sitting down low below where compression really begins to build (also it seemed to be at TDC during the test, negating any issue down in the cylinder). A good cleaning and some run time on the engine might clear up a lot of these issues Good luck with the build!

    • @rebuildit
      @rebuildit 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for the encouragement! A little inside info before the next episode, I sent the head off to a machine shop and had it tested. They said it was in great shape and held good compression. So I hope you’re right about the cylinder.
