This video is the best one on UA-cam. Thanks so much. I ended up not having trouble with the electrical plug and didn’t have to pull engine mount to get it out, it just came right through in the right position

Really appreciate that you're fixing this outside with a basic wrench set and no special tools just like I'm going to have to. Definitely agree you got some awesome shots of tough angles to see, thanks!

Hey Andrew, saw your message. I just did this job and it was my first big job ever. Only really did tire swaps and a couple oil changes before. I took off the intake manifold to clear more space. I suggest doing it this way if you need to change spark plugs/intake gasket.
Also, I used a long ratchet to unbolt the alternator. But found it was unneeded for when I tightened them. I just used a quarter inch ratchet and it was enough room for both my hands to get in there. You will need a long ratchet for the furthest bolt. Top bolt u can get from the top with a quarter inch.
Anyways gl and u can do it!

Thank you, I was able to replace my alternator after watching this, but I did something different which to me was easier, and it wasn't until the second time through on a bigger screen that I caught it. Where you say you didn't want to remove the valve cover gasket, I totally agree, but once I looked closer, you were up against the intake manifold. If you remove the intake manifold, the alternator fits right through. It's just a matter of 8 8mm bolts, unplugging a handful of things, a few vacuum line hoses, the big hose clamp for the air intake, three more 8mm screws for the guides for the throttle and cruise control cables attach. Pulling it off the EGR is a little wonky, you need to pull the whole towards the left front of the car, but aside from that, very straight forward. I appreciate the video, thank you!

loosening up a couple of bolts on the engine mount sounds wayyyy easier

Yo bro, ive watched over 10 videos on how to do this job and no one shows the angles like you. After 2 days of trying to take out the top alternator bolt, your video saved me. Your angle and technique to reach that top bolt was a life saver. I was about to give up and put it all back together lol... also I almost stripped the top bolt from the top. I even used a impact driver on it, dont ask me how hahaha.
Anyhoot, just got her out today and am gonna get it tested to see if its the alternator draining my battery or some other shit.
    Fingers crossed its the alternator...

0:49 you forgot to add, "and ford is stupid for putting it there"!!😂

That’s not a valve cover... all u would have had to do was remove the 12 10mm intake manifold that’s not the valve cover ... also removing that clip to loosen the tension of the throttle doesn’t put it back to normal.. not trying to be that guy I just click this to see the locations of the alternator.. and along the way you maybe a couple I’m sure hours consuming decisions.. thanks for the video man

What a job for a simple alternator .... ford really fucked up on this one.......

I couldn't agree with you more. Such a bad placement for an alternator. One of the hardest alternator jobs I've ever done. Usually its a quick 1 hour thing I think this took me 5 to 6 hours

@@d11auto Awesome. I got mine to the point of being stuck at the top without removing the computer. nothing worked until I loosened the motor mount. Thanks my Bro.

Watch my video... you had the alternator backwards. No need to loosen any mounts

dude your video absolutely sucks you didn't show anything about how you got the alternator off of the stud that its mounted on on the back of the engine... your video doesn't show anything at all about the procedure of how to pivot and maneuver the alternator itself out of where its mounted on the motor... how did u have enuff room between the engine and the firewall??

    • @d11auto
      @d11auto  2 роки тому

No actually I had to loosen up the engine mounts with a jack underneath the engine to get enough clearance to get the alternator up through in between the fire wall and the top of the engine scraped the firewall up a lil bit

it's probably better than your video.... no video is going to be perfect, people are doing this as they do a very hard job, I'm thankful he passed along the wisdom he learned from this job
