It is much more dangerous to spar(even bodyspar) bigger guy who is unexperienced when you are not begginer but not good either. Because he can not controll his power and when u land livershot he might throw crazy wild right hand which will break your jaw(especially if you didnt see it comming like me) if you dropped your hand😅. Hi there - I just wanted to thank you for providing so much useful information on the art of boxing. If you don’t mind, I have a few questions for you: 1. As someone who’s 5’9 with a reach of 68 inches (which is really short for my height), do you think it’s possible for me to become a high level boxer in the middleweight category? 2. I’ve always found the eastern style (which you specialise in) to be beautiful. However, I heard that it’s only good for tall people with long arms, and that the USSR intentionally looked for people like that to be part of their boxing program. Is this true? Or can I make it work for my body type? 3. Lastly, I wanted to ask you if you think that the eastern style of boxing is good for self defence/street situations. A huge consideration for me whenever I pick up a new art (I’ve done Muay Thai and Judo) is whether or not I can use it to defend myself effectively. What do you think? Thank you for your time.
Hey! Thank you for the feedback 1. Of course you can become a high level boxer. Maybe that’s a little disadvantage for you but you can find ways to successfully utilise your body type 2. USSR boxing is not only about bouncing on your toes at the long range, there were also great shorter guys, just not as many as tall ones 3. Yes it’s effective in street fighting. Of course you will not do the pendulum step there so it’s as effective as any other boxing style
I think you will find this video helpful in regard to your second question Pendulum Step Strategies to Defeat Taller Fighters ua-cam.com/video/8nsThEq2Z6k/v-deo.html
To beat an unorthodox fighter like Muhammad Ali or Sugar Ray Leonard, focus on patience and timing. Try to cut off the ring and control the center to limit their movement. Stay grounded, use feints, and wait for openings when they try something flashy. Also, stay disciplined defensively-they rely on opponents making mistakes, so keeping your guard tight and not overcommitting can make a big difference.

How long would you recommend practicing each drill
That depends on how you structure your training plan. I usually go from 40 to 60 seconds per drill
@akhotinbxng That time frame fits pretty perfectly in my plan. Thanks a bunch for the advice
