Looks like you reduced the resonance from the sheet metal which resulted in a different interior sound.
I think a soft insulation might work better. Something like batt insulation. It would be interesting to put a big bed comforter in that rear area and do a sound test. That would tell you if a soft insulation is better than that stick down matt for reducing interior engine noise.

"I don't know", "i guess", "I'm not sure", "no change"... Do people actually pay you to work on their cars?

Did this actually work? I've seen in forums that people do a few layers. Some Kilmat, some dynamat, some noico. Was thinking of doing this myself. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes it does help, and little weight, but as stated below you change the resonance. Less high pitch noises will come through. Bass/Mid range is very difficult to block.

Was there improvement in noise or drone at highway or just below highway speeds? 2-3krpm for example

I did this to my 987 with a small change in cabin noise. Probably not worth the time and cost.

Why get a GT3 if the noise bothers you?

      Bc of the engine?

Considering getting a 992 gt3 and doing full sound deadning inside as it's unbearable at highway speeds bc of shirt gearing, you're constantly over 3.5k rpm

@@atom999 defeats the purpose of the car. I drove a .2 GT3 for 3 years, even had it with a silenced race pipe it wasn't that bad. Road surfaces and cage rattle were equally frustrating but drone shouldn't be an issue on most trips including longer ones unless you're fully straight piped...

@@swb7161 Respectfully I disagree that it defeats the purpose of the car. Adding 30kg of sound deadning will not change much of the dynamics but make it acceptable for daily use. And when needed can be used properly on track.
I think 991 model was better in terms of gearing, so you werent doing motorway speeds at 4.5k rpm. I know a few owners of the current 992s and they will not pick up any calls unless stationary as noone can hear them.
I'm looking forward to 992.2 gt3 touring and what it will bring, perhaps they will fix the gearing.
