      @@herbpantaleon7485 I noticed that but he mentioned something about depth and how the tweeter would set. An my intent wasn’t to criticize or anything of the sort, many times Matt has alluded to his willingness to be the tester and take the bumps that come with doing so, I appreciate that. Some measurements ( on the sound levels before and after would be nice but I understand the relativity of it) but it is a trust thing I like more bass feel than Matt I have come realize ( I am also half his age if that so it makes sense) but totally agree on highs and mids.

    Would LOVE to have a guy like this in the Munich area. I have a 991.2 Turbo with the shitty Bose system. I would do a similar upgrade if we had people here. It would be even better if the dealer would offer this as an upgrade option.

    • @johnnygeorgopoulos4072
      @johnnygeorgopoulos4072 Місяць тому

      @Sailingbill1 , you could upgrade yourself by just buying the components and saving a ton (a Focal Utopia 3-way component set is a hell of a lot cheaper than $6k, and for less, you can get better than Focal).... and if you just wanted a cheaper upgrade, you could hit Suncoast Porsche and start buying Burmester factory components that weren't specd on your 991.2 and pop them in place of the trash Bose.... anything is better than Bose 😅

    you didnt mention the reason why you are going to disconnect the center channel. Im a simpleton when it comes to audio so I just think more is better right, plus its included in the kit so the people who create these things reccomend it. But I guess it maybe has something to do with tuning the system, where you define low-pass, hi-pass, time delays, etc. and this center channel just makes it more complicated to tune for what little effect it would give in the end? or is there something else?

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  9 місяців тому +2

      Stereo imaging is the reason. We have an available channel in the DSP and amp, but when Matt Schafer tested the system in his last install, he ended up turning off the center channel. It's a real pain get the clock out, so he suggested I not mess with it since it doesn't add to sound stage.

  • @Plague_GG

    What is the reasoning behind disconnecting the center speaker rather than replacing it with the focal one?

    • @JR-ho5qm
      @JR-ho5qm 9 місяців тому +1

      My guess is with the center speaker in the mix there is just to much sound bouncing around and it could muddy up the good side 3 way system. Kinda more is not better

    • @PbcMr
      @PbcMr 8 місяців тому

      @@ObsessedGarage I ended up doing it just now, and yeah, it's the biggest pain in the arse ... but doable. The Helix he tuned likely isn't using the CC, or just as fill I assume. If one is just replacing the speakers though (and not the amp), I think you have to replace the center as 1) the Bose tune puts a lot of emphasis on the CC, and 2) the Bose speakers are much more efficient so if you leave the CC it sounds louder and overpowers the side midranges IMO.
