Actual solution with video of the pipe used and how they do it plus how it looks once welded in ua-cam.com/video/QqJyiRZxwE8/v-deo.htmlsi=nWS5ef0NON3hBiTG
180 technology is just a commercial term to say helmoltz resonance on exhaust. thats what manufacturers have always used before. The cheapest way to fix drone is to create a J pipe with a calculated lenght that cancels out the undesired frequency. There are many tutorials on youtube about j pipes.
J bend in the pipe. Go to an experienced muffler shop and tell them around what speed and rpm you get drone and they'll be able to make a bend in the pipe to help with drone.
I have an FK8 with the AWE Touring Exhaust. I had significant drone with this exhaust. It was more noticeable in the winter time and not to bad in the summer in the summer (ambient temp affects the speed of sound). I ended up fixing the problem by buying their dual phase mid pipe option that adds another resonator/phase chamber to the exhaust, and have not had an issue since. So yes, throwing the frequency out of phase at the tail pipe is a good idea, but its not always going to be enough to fix the problem and their exhaust are not exactly drone free out of the box as stated in their marketing.
I coated the whole hatch, and passenger seat floor with Dynamat, eliminated the drone in the cabin. Going to add more as I really like how quiet it has become if I choose to have some peace while my exhaust still rumbles away.
Ok, so all this turned into was a commercial for a sponsor for AWE... No real solutions to the problem other than, Buy their patented180 technology" 🥴🙄 Wack.....
Which is hilarious considering many people in the comments have AWE exhausts and have came here looking for a solution!. How to make money 101: 1: Invent product that sounds better than stock, but has an inbuilt problem only noticed after a while. 2: Invent solution to that problem. 3: ? 4: Profit!!!!
Sorry gotta call out BS on the AWE 180 tech. Bought the AWE touring exhaust w performance midpipe for my 2013 BMW 335i and the drone was crazy and way too loud. Per recommendation from the muffler shop put a Vibrant bottle resonator and it reduced drone by approx 80% and also got a little quieter. But still drones on highway speeds around 90mph.
I bought a low mileage 2LT 2015 camaro that i most testdrove around the city a little on the highway but not far enough to use cruise and that was a mistake. I specifically asked the salesman if it was stock exhaust and he said it was and being a little wet from rain i didnt wanna lay on the ground to verify WellTLDR, as soon as i drove it home with cruise on, it had the dreaded DRONE between 1750 and 2150 and i called them immediately to complain. They feigned ignorance and said sold as is blah blah. THEN i noticed they made a huge mistake in the listed mileage. It said 35000 on the ad and was almost 38000. SO i complained again and this time they had to do something so they offered me 450 bucks or else full refund. I took the 450 but now im stuck with watching DRONE videos to fix it, lol Im told if i get a V8 rearend with 392 reargears i will likely be outta that droney Rpm band on the highway. Anyone know where i can get one?
I called them a while back asking if I could put a resonator on the system I had put on my civic. It drones so bad and I'm fine but those who ride in the car either love it or can't handle it for very long lol. After a drive to Vegas which took me 10 hours or more I couldn't hear shit. After several hours I couldn't handle it. $1400 exhaust system shouldn't sound that way imo. After they responded I gave up because all I wanted to know was, "Can I add a resonator to the system I put on in hopes of eliminating some of the harshness of that sound, if so which, if any, would you recommend?" I got a response about how everyone precieves sound differently... well duh! I understand that but even someone as myself who can deal with the loudness just fine but also doesn't care for the drone factors, I can agree the system needs some form of dampening. It's vibration is louder in the car than outside, and that's the point was getting at. The sound is great the actual physical properties of that system changed the dynamics in a way that adding the Honda resonator back into the system might of been enough to create the perfect combination to get that exhaust note I was hoping for. But I wasn't able to get that answer from them, nor could they even give me an idea of where I should install the resonator in regards to that system. But in the end, it is what it is for me, and this news here makes me feel better knowing they have put some effort into fixing such a challenging task. I do love their exhaust systems and look forward to next system I get now. Lol good work
Been looking at your stage 1+ package, live in MN so an OTS tune for a small amount of time from the same state seems smarter than a different. But my WRX is a 2021 and your packages say 15-20 :/
@@maperformance if I roll up with mine can I get a discount so you can put it on your site too? 😏 What's the change from the 20 to the 21 that calls for a different tune? Or does each year have its own?
This video has an annoying drone noise. What's so annoying about it, is the talk talk talk that eventually leads to some high tech crap that is not going to interest most people. You should do less talking and get straight to the point. Show what the actual product does instead of waffling on. Thanks

I have a AWE with the 180 bs. My cat drones like a mf. In fact, I am here because your ex exhaust drone so bad I’m looking for ways to fix this and you guys pop up, which is weird.
The drone is cause by frequencies from different places in the car, matching each other and resonating, and thus creates a resonant frequency in the car which amplifies said signal along both components making the noise, and makes it louder, at whatever Rev / Speed combo you're at that creates it to begin with. The solution is to measure sound frequencies coming from the car and playing the inverse, this will severely help mute the drone - like noise cancelling headphones.....And then add a completely different but very small bands of frequencies to the mix, therefore interrupting the drone. Basically almost exactly what you said at the end of the video, which completely contradicts what you said at the start, lmfao. We get it though.......as others have mentioned, obvious ad is obvious.
So this video was basically just a really long ad...Got it.
What a fucking waste of time. Clickbait me once, never get my business again.

Sooo, how do you cancel the drone without upgrading to the 180 technology 🧐
yup basically this was a long, convincing sales pitch for buying the exhaust he mentioned.
im glad someone felt the same way. I was a little let down when he finally got to how to fix drone and its basically "buy our sponsers products"
Get an aftermarket resonator

waste of time, nothing more than an AWE commercial

was that hard to do ?

I literally came across this video while trying to find content to figure out how to get rid of drone on my AWE. How ironic.
lmao

All exhausts drone at highway speed
Invented a muffler and resonator GJ..
Dude 4 minutes to get to the point and it ended up being an advert. Poor form dude, poor form.
when it went halfway without any fix, i felt it
My 22 WRX drones, even with the stock exhaust 😂😂

Sales pitch about AWE , no answer for drone
It's all in the resonator.
Solo j pipe is the answer keep the noise but quiet inside
Reverse Uno for the win!
Took way too long to get to the point
I got so nervous when you closed that laptop
I would get their touring if they werent so damn loud. I really like those black diamond tips😢
Been looking at your stage 1+ package, live in MN so an OTS tune for a small amount of time from the same state seems smarter than a different. But my WRX is a 2021 and your packages say 15-20 :/
Unfortunately we do not have any tunes for the '21 WRX.

Just a sales pitch
Couldn’t you just put sound insulation in the trunk
Will they release one for the 8th gen civics? =(
3:45
Thank you
I have awe touring w test pipes and I have drone ..
A while damn ad, wtf maf
I'm pretty sure all I just watched was an AWE ad. Basically clickbait for AWE.
Learnt nothing

so the fix is change the exhaust?
Cancel culture exhaust drone 😂😂 loved that!
Or you can just install a j pipe. Same concept.
I think this is the first time in a long time I had to hit the thumbs down on a video. Just an Ad click bait.
So much repetitive talk I’m outta here
180 degree technology AKA “MUFFLERS”!!?????????????
This video reminds me why I chose to stop getting this channel recommended.
Waste of time, came here to get some DIY ideas to reduce drones, not a single point of how to reduce the drone. Just another marketing video
Thanks for wasting my time!
Hmmm...."180 degree technology"...also known as helmholtz.
What crap.
Doh. This is waste of my time. Ad only! Bloody hell.!!
clickbait title
Pointless video
