Some of the greatest authors have either had a monthly series from the start or have shifted from the weekly chapters to do a monthly series, to me that says a lot and the quality shows. Whatever Ishida decides to do I'm behind it, even if he doesn't want to write anymore, He's done enough for us as readers already.
    Love you.

He finished Tokyo Ghoul a year or so Before Re the man deserves a nicely earned break which is what he intends to do from what I recall he should take as long as he wants to since Re got pretty stressful for him nearing the end and so on I believe if he comes back it'll be a short weekly series but who knows

Connor Clifton he also explained a weekly nearly ruined his relationships with people and exhausted him to no end. So, yeah, monthly would be preferred, you can wait a bit for quality stories so the author isn’t constantly stressed out.

After reading his letter after the ending of Tokyo Ghoul, I don't think he'll be coming back. But then again, he did mention how he found creating manga to be really enjoyable aswell. He has to do a monthly series if he does come back though. Even if he never comes back, Tokyo ghoul will still be known as one of the greats, so he's done an amazing job.

I know for a fact that Sui Ishida absolutely loves drawing in general not necessarily for a manga. So, if he does do a monthly manga his art would be awesome.
Who knows he might change his art style in the next manga he writes but I want him to learn more about how to draw action scenes. Let's be honest he kind of sucks at drawing fights but I understand it was weekly manga. If he did write a monthly manga I would love to see his full potential of drawing fights.

I like the idea of a monthly series because that would definitely give more options to explore.Though I doubt he would go back to Tokyo ghoul unless there's a high demand for it from fans or his editors and a lot of money for Ishida in returning. Isayama, who writes Attack on Titan is on a month schedule aswell and seems to do pretty good. Just recently he was able to go on a vacation with his entire staff+family for a week or so. I do believe that a monthly schedule Puts less stress on you but it's diffrent for every person. Miura struggles to do 20 pages of Berserk a month and Isayama does 50-ish pages, with a huge difference in artwork quality of course.

What a incredible person to create such a masterpiece as Tokyo Ghoul for his 1st seinen. I started to watch the anime and before that, I said to myself that it just to entertain me, bcz I was bored of my holidays. But, I just fell in this huge universe, and it was very hard for me in the very last episode and moment of the anime to say goodbye to this story. Some people said that the last season was not as great as they expected, and others want also to see more. But I believe that Ishida ended his masterpiece well. Don't want to see more as the end satisfied me, but hope he will do other mangas as good as Tokyo ghoul !

Honestly I just really wish ishida took his time with the ending of tokyo ghoul. I really do think that he should have taken more breaks and *paced himself.* But then I remember that if he did take more breaks, WSJ would have probably cancelled publication of tg.
As painstaking as it would be for us readers to wait every month for the next chapter of tg, it would take such a weight off of sensei’s shoulders and he could truly focus on the story. Because the way tg ended seemed very out of context for an author like ishida, with all the empty plot holes.

    • @thetoptier700
      @thetoptier700 6 років тому +4

      Crazy Suit
Black Clover is a series that doesn't take itself too seriously. It knows it runs off cliches and strides in it. The secondary characters shine really nice(more so than the mains) and the character interactions honestly make the story. I remember times smiling ear to ear when certain characters would run into each other, and the interactions all feel unique and organic. The story also has some really interesting lore in my opinion, which adds some depth to the story that I didn't expect at all going in.
All in all I would say Black Clover is a pleasant surprise and that's why it's so enjoyable.

    • @thetoptier700
      @thetoptier700 6 років тому +1

Also the main character Asta just grows on you. He's still annoying but it's more so in a laughing "yeah that's Asta" vibe then an aggrivated one. And it's because Asta knows he's annoying that allows it to blend so well compared to similar MCs like Natsu who tries to be taken seriously all the time(no offense to Fairy Tail).

  • @jasminecruz7882

I think the series as a whole can be considered a tragedy. I mean, we once had this promising unknown manga with a mysterious author gaining more and more exposure. People really looked up to it, expected so much mindblowns and plot fuckery that they started creating blogs, channels and forums to share their wildest uncanny theories. Hashatags about the manga trended in tumblr and twitter. Debates erupted. But in the end, what did it matter though? The story lost its essence a very long time ago. The author burned out and dropped it completely. All those hypes were lost. We readers were truly let down. I think that was the real tragedy.

While Tokyo Ghoul was ongoing, I was blown away by Goodnight Punpun and inio asano.
Since tokyo ghoul has finished I have really started embracing and enjoying the pinnacle of seinen work.
I look forward to reading monster and flowers of evil next. But I just finished catching up to a trail of blood within a day or so because I was so investeded. And then I finished catching up to berserk a few weeks ago. Berserk, Goodnight Punpun, and A Trail of Blood all are phenomenal in their own right and I'm happy to have been recommended those series, by you, Dres, and others. I would definitely love to see what Ishida can do with a schedule and work flow more open like many of these God tier mangaka. I hope this happens at some point in the future. Tokyo Ghoul and Ishida's writing as a whole have been something that's touched me personally and honestly changed my life and mentality as well as help me in darker times in my life and I look forward and hope to see whatever he produces in the future.

The Tokyo ghoul prequel was so dope, it showed so many effed up ppl, many sides of evil, mysterious characters like owl, arima and his squad, the legend/myth behind kakujas (I liked how everyone feared them and believed their existence was a myth) , the clowns and organizations that hide in the shadows like v, clowns and made u wonder who the hell r they? Even the ghouls back then were so interesting as each one was unique in their own way whether it was their kagunes or their personalities, ghouls of aogiri especially were awesome. And of course the many elements and tropes like symbolism, foreshadowing, mind blowing plot twists just put this series on a whole other level.
What really made the story the best was the mc, he was so well written. He goes from one simple boy, to this bloodlusting crazy badass in the most effed up way possible, he knew the only thing he could do about it is find the cause of his situation and sure went thru so much trouble but always crawled out of it like a centipede, I always liked how he envisioned his strength to be like that evil insect, he was so hell bent in becoming the strongest it mentally effed him up and was prolly his biggest shortcoming, he reminds of darth Vader in a way, always angry, hungry for power. And at the end we’re reminded the series is a tragedy when we see how much trouble Kanekis gone thru just to see all his efforts go down the drain by one simple looking man who was basically death itself (such a poetic scene) that’s when his will really shattered into a million pieces and became suicidal thru the sequel re making him believe no matter what he does he can’t save everyone from dying and therefore become alone. but even then he still clings to the belief of others survived and goes all out to save himself only to be left with holes in his head, that scene rlly shocked me to see the main character die in the most crude way, and then the plot twists roll out and we learn about the culprit behind steel beams and owls id. Never dropped my jaw so hard on an ending.
Then there’s re, now re was dope up until post auction raid arc, that’s when takizawa comes back and we see an old character who leaves us with a big question mark (Uta) Haise should’ve got his memory back and put takizawa in his place but it never happened and lanekis return dragged on for way too long, I don’t think there was even a descent fight for Kaneki, (besides vs arima but even that felt so bland, you’d think it’d be the most epic fight but idk) he was losing to fodder and never went full kakuja. The level storytelling was only dropping after noro and the other aogiri guy die, kagune types didn’t matter anymore, everyone’s a one eye and the ending was obv rushed but ofc I still read it cuz it’s my fav series and I know the author could’ve done a lot better but I can imagine how stressful it can be to write and draw a manga for years

Ngl tho the one time I think that Tokyo Ghoul re was still good at the end (and overall the ending months were still good imo) was the Kaneki vs Furuta fight, it actually took its time and it is heavily focused on by just shoving the rest of the events out of the focus and it is very detailed.
    Artstyle went up tho ngl.

I know it's completely far-fetched and selfish but I would love it if Ishida decided somewhere years down the line to revisit and rewrite the ending of Tokyo Ghoul to give the story and all of it's characters the conclusion they deserved. I think you are so right in the regard that Ishida would thrive in a monthly vs. weekly basis and I feel like he really could have done the series a lot more justice at the end if he would have gone the route of taking a break and then finishing it on cadence such as Togashi with HxH instead of rushing and concluding it in a matter of months, but I like to think that he intentionally left the ending of :re (before the time skip) kind of ambiguous and open ended because he could so easily come back and write the time skip off as a hallucination of Kaneki's ideal ending to his story but then have him wake up and find himself in Rize's place as the core of Dragon. But again, that's just me being greedy :) I would be more than happy to get anything at all from Ishida in the future because he truly is one of a kind when it comes to storytelling

Dres-san your are talking about TG in an emotional way, no matter how deep TG's story is he Ishida CAN make it way better in the end, I don't care about One Piece or whatever, but he could take a break if he felt pressure, you CAN"T also compare TG to KINGDOM because in Kingdom it talked about historical matters the author is AMAZING he would take a 1 week break just to read history so he can make his manga similar to reality unlike TG which is a fictional story ... I'm still disappointed in th Ending of TG, and what he said in his Letter is not justified to me because as I said he can take even 1 month break I don't mind or made his manga on monthly basis instead of weekly so he can breath

The art style and the consistency blows one piece and naruto out. I kept questioning how he draws so many panels so well in a week. One piece is simplistic in comparison.Anyone can draw luffy it ain't that hard. I ain't taking a dump on one piece , I love it, but the art style alone is very demanding for one person.

Friendly reminder that shonen and seinen mean absolutely nothing. Bungou Stray Dogs is labeled seinen and The Promised Neverland and Hunter x Hunter are labeled shonen. Hell, even One Punch Man is technically seinen because it's published in Tonari no YOUNG Jump, despite being a dissection of shonen tropes. Shonen and seinen are not genres and they're barely even functional as age groups.

Either outcome is a good outcome.
Ishida never returns to the manga scene, or he does with a new series or rewrite of the TG:Re finale.
While the idea of him never coming back is unpleasant, as his work was the first manga I read and immediately fell in love with his work, he deserves his break from a nonstop assault of deadlines and backlash when he did what he did (burning Manga age). Without a doubt, he earned his indefinite time off, whether some people recognize it or not.
Now if he comes back with anything, rewrite or a new piece, we can be confident it will be a masterpiece ( as long as we go in without any expectations as to compare it TG, or simply get pissed at him writing what he wants to write ).

Sui Ishida really has some of the best art ive seen. I really hope he writes another manga but he keeps it monthly so he doesn't get burned out. I wouldn't even care if he wrote some Moe trash. I would still read as long as its Ishida drawing and writing the story.

I do quite enjoy his Penisman series. It's amusing and goofy, and it was created when he was moreso goofing off and trying different things/themes. I don't think he's contributed to it in a while, what with TG taking precedence. I'm hoping he starts a monthly series, so he can expand more with his storytelling without wearing himself out.

He will return to Hunter x Hunter after he is taking some time off. Ok ok I had to make a joke about the theory that he is Togashi. But let's be honest he probably will take his time to recover and probably come back with another series, just like all great Mangaka do cause most can't just life with the money they earned with 1 series even if it was a hit.

To be honest yea i think that a montly schedule will be much better for him , if he will write again hopefully he will , especially on the art bc lets be serious his art most fo the time expecially in the action/fight scenes wasn't all that great imo. In montly he can have a consistent really detailed art
Sucks to hear this but it was kinda expected figured it was something .
I know of those other seinens especially flowers of evil , watched from the anime a little and read more from the manga , not really my thing the slice of life genre, but i know it has really interesting story telling and some suspense, seinens usually are great at that if the best at it. Pyonpyon is the least i know of , i think i heard it only once. No doubt that those may be one of the best seinens out there and their best seinen authors.
