This time during Star Citizen's development CIG had released the hangar module, Arena Commander (racing and combat), the social module, Star Marine, and the baby PU. That year they released 3.0 after that long wait. They didn't buy a plugin to make planets off a store. They made the tech themselves. And it didn't look so bad that they had to preface it by saying their looking into alternatives. As slow as CIG was, these guys are further behind. They're still coasting on Unreal's amazing visuals. The 3.0 Gamescom demo had actual gameplay. Vehicles inside ships, seamless transitions from space to on foot, EVA, missions, mission givers, a real landing location, multi-crew, land vehicles, and carrying cargo. Nothing close to this is seen here. I don't even see a single mission. I don't think they have a 64 bit or 128 bit world coordinate system yet as they seem to be faking it? If they had EVA and seamlessly getting out on the ground it would be some proof. I've searched for actual gameplay beyond racing and I'm not seeing it. Nobody is playing this game. The latest videos are just the stress tests. So far, beyond Unreal's graphics, I'm not seeing anything I haven't made myself in Unreal. Except for the planet stuff, that is beyond me but I can definitely buy a plugin like they did. There's an SC content creator who made a better planet creator in Unreal back in 2017. Not bad. Definitely very talented concept artists and 3D modelers. But the tech screams, "we have a tiny development team" to me. It looks dated now, but 3.0 was amazing visually and from a gameplay perspective. This may wow some people. It's easy to do with Unreal (see the day before) but I'm still unimpressed.
One of the reasons I keep pounding the table that they need to mimic ISC or SC live is to know the teams get to know the company and be as transparent as CIG is. It's something they are just starting thanks to Dominic. Let's give them some time and see if they can continually up the bar shall we? Great seeing you Damon. Hope you're having a great weekend.
I sold out of Star Atlas in exchange for another promising Web 3 metaverse but I am still a big fan. I think the SA community is top notch and by that I mean it has a bunch of tech geeks, gamers and dev people. I could see myself coming back to SA in a heartbeat if they keep producing like they have in the past year. I hope it won't be too expensive if and when I comeback - probably best to wait for the next bear market. As far as gaming - I think they will deliver in time. Right now their focus is building the basic platforms that is a must to hold future potential games.
With Star Citizen, CIG is doing a truly open development of a game. I was always amazed that despite the deep insight into the development of the game, so many people doubted it. I think this year's development has shown some that the long time was really used to create something impressive.
I have been playing star citizen daily for the last 3 years…. I hope nothing but the best for star atlas… more competition will only make both games better! I love the space genre and want it to be more mainstream!
Hello sir I’m a star atlas player and our guild The Club has 5 million dollars worth of assets. If you would like to do a video or just check out star atlas inside the game I can give you a beta code and show u around. Our guild owns many capital and commander ships I can let u fly or check them out inside and out. Love star atlas because you can play for no investment and still play/earn with a near scholarship module. Great video sir
I like their flying Cadillac … not enough to get into Star Atlas, but if it was in SC then I would pledge for one, if only as an LTI token (for whatever those are worth). Big fan of flying cars ever since seeing Blade Runner and The Fifth Element. We have hover bikes and various wheeled cars, but I want a hover/flying car and an apartment in New Babbage, or a gritty slum flat like V’s place in Night City. … but not enough to buy into the crypto hell of Star Atlas.
Thank you again for a great video. ( By the way if you do ever talk to the 'ceo' you will realize and learn that he was not the one who gave the strike. Its always good to hear the other side before you make up your mind. :) Love the content!
My favorite developing game is SC but i do have SA stuff like an XS ship and space station/mine/power plant/beginer base/cargo storage that i got from doing escape velocity with a XXS ship collecting loot and selling it and i am still waiting for the memory NFTs to burn for my other items.
The thing that rubbed me wrong about SA is the financial incentives behind their funding model. With SC when you pledge for a ship, your money is gone for good, completely cycled into future development. And everyone that's buying ships know this. They either really wanna support the project, or they really love those ships. And they have that much disposable income. But with SA, people buying the ships might not just be thinking about supporting the project and such, they are very likely thinking they can get real money return on their investment. And the people making SA definitely know this as well, and they started when Web3/blockchain was still the hot tech trend, so they can lore a buncha people who think they can make some big money through this. With SC it's straight forward and honest: hey, we wanna make a great space game and the private investors don't wanna support our vision, so we turn to the community.
Yes SC did get a lot of hate in the early years because of the ambition and scope. But CR also had a reputation for actually making games. Star Atlas has no reputation to lean on , no past accomplishments. We’ll just have to see more of the project to make a more accurate comparison to the likes of Star Citizen. After this years CC , even the haters have been silenced. More space games are always good for the consumer, let’s wait and see what Star Atlas will or can bring.
Their persistence will ultimately win you and all the other skeptics over

Yup, I love those Lowbie vehicles. Wish we had somethig similar in Star Citizen.
Has Star Atlas got a 64-bit precision coordinate system yet?
Agree with you 100% and i am not a gamer , but fan and holder of few Atlas tokens.
Best of luck on your trade my dude 😎

It's definitely arcady, but at least it's not copying that other space game we often talk about.
The thing that rubbed me wrong about SA is the financial incentives behind their funding model.
