    More More moooreeee! I love how you tackle pretty much every issue all in and succeed to fix them every time. Fixing things is way more satisfying than replacing parts. Sadly nowadays manufacturers (not only those who make cars) don't like to give that opportunity. I drove an E65 LCI 730d from 05 to 08 and loved it every minute, those comfort seats are the best ever made never had back pain or whatever. I once had the driver side door mirror cap catching on a ledge in a tight parking spot when backing out of it (concrete pillar), it just flipped off. Later I realized BMW engineered tiny clips to break when this happens to keep the mirror cap itself in 1 piece. Buy couple of those tiny clips and the cap seats properly again.

      Well i'm pretty sure he would replace with brand new OEM parts as much as he can but in some cases the factory do not make any more particular parts, so obviously are becoming hard to find specially brand new (or too expensive because they come as a whole kit) so fixing the broken parts in such cases must be made because is the only available option (like in the case of the small plastic pin for soft close in side door-mechanism glued with super-glue)..

    • @pieterverboven4853
      @pieterverboven4853 Рік тому +6

      @@poplaurentiu4148 Sure. I only wanted to express I really appreciate the sort of in depth way of fixing broken things or making 1 functional example out of 2 things (like the RHD/LHD door mirror) OEM is always best for new parts obviously.

    Once had to replace that rear door small glass to '89 Corolla. It literally required you to loosen one screw on top of the doorframe to move the vertical bar away from the glass. After that, the glass just slid out. Talk about the contrast on the complexity of such operation compared to this! Great video as always.

    • @aserta
      @aserta Рік тому +2

      Yeah, but you can't compare the trim level between a Corolla and a modern BMW. You can't compare it even with an 89 BMW. That's the thing. Doesn't excuse absolute gobshite quality of materials and the fact that some of these assemblies are intentionally made complicated to make it difficult to repair them at an owner level, but that's the long and short of it.

I also really understand now why many people stay clear of oldish 7 series BMWs packed full of technology that goes wrong after some years. The amount of door/ mirror/ sensor faults you fixed on this one car is enough to sink the economy of a small nation if it had to be done by an actual garage. They would probably do bad repairs anyway as I’ve discovered watching your videos… 9 times out of 10 the old repairs on this cars are terrible.

I can’t wait to see Project Chicago finished finally finished so that you’re able to move on to the rest of your livery. On a side note, about the problem with your soft closing issues on your doors, those are usually caused by a limit switch going bad. They can get clogged or malfunction, so don’t throw the one you took out. You might be able to salvage them by doing a deep clean or replacing the limit switches, which are usually interchangeable with other models. Good luck, and see you again soon, mate. 👍🏻✌️🏻🥰

    Sreten man, watching you at work is soooo captivating and fun to observe... thanks a lot for all your hard work on the cars and also the top notch editing !! One little trick about cianoacrilate (superglue): it gets really hard and effective when there is no space in between the pieces to glue, i think it's because it reacts with lack of air or something. Try to fill the tiny gaps and extra residue with bicarbonate powder (the one used for cooking and bad digestions)..... it gets super hard and durable, and you can sand it later to make the piece even better.
    These modern cars with so many electronic unnecessary devices are mechanics and owners nightmare. Good that you fixed all that shit. Cheers and keep that garage running... we love it!!

    For the repair of the softclose mechanism one more tip. If the plastic can not be welded with a solvent-based adhesive, then use good adhesive for the plastic and additionally stabilize the parts with metal. Either melt a brass mesh from the outside over the repaired area or stabilize it with metal pins. For example single bolts from a paper stacker are suitable for this job. Drill holes on both sides of the break, slightly smaller than the object used for stabilizing, and then melt it in with a soldering iron. Use the same method for the mesh.

    It is such a high when you work with that kind of detail, "no one is going to know but we know"

    I don't even really care for cars that much, but love to see someone so confident in fixing stuff up. There is something special about taking pride in something even if it is old.

    How can you not "like" the episode? Most of the content involves personalities putting on an exhaust system and revving the engine. This is great!

    Hello Sir. Don't usually comment on UA-cam videos (one of yours was the latest) , but I can't help myself any longer. This is the only channel that makes me laughing out loud! I love the humor, the sarcasm and "dry british humor" (No offence to either the British (I Drive a MG) or you), I love it! Keep up the good work!!

    So surprised that the Alpina doesn't have EDC shocks. I've had all of those door issues on mine, except my driver's door rod had completely ripped through the base plate it attaches too. Great content as always. So helpful for the community and no click-bait!

    The best part was still when you reassembled the first engine after sleeving.
    That is when, in my mind, you gained GODMODE status.
    Long live the Turd, for it has elevated your skills.

    Sreten there is a reason thousands of us flock to your channel every time you post new content. We get the benefit of learning right along side you. You fix the soft close door and we learn what to look for and how to fix it. Same with the small glass in this episode. Now we ALL know we CAN do it

    The level of complexity is almost every subsystem in this car is amazing. The soft-close door mechanisms alone contain sophisticated engineering: but it depends on delicate plastic parts that can fail and ruin the whole experience. I'm just glad my car doesn't have them.
