      plenty blacks got arrested fro crimes they didn't commit and I thing having weed on you which plenty black people smoke shouldn't put you in prison where plenty are sitting for as well and whites don't make 70% of the population the hispanics are like a big population which is going to dominate over the white population in a few years

    • @tradgothmiku

I was just saying that it's refreshing to see the different point of view: These people are normal, loving people, their crime shouldn't define who they are.

      LaTripper I know people going through it, all of them I think need a reset button. A few hopping from jail to free back into jail. Its becoming their normal life, a prison with a program like this would allow them to see there is more to the world than the trouble they were getting into.

      There is no reset button after prison. As an Ex Convict the government pretty much only cares about you when its time for them to harass you or limit your choices, and finding work or a way back into society is very hard, even if you became a new person on prison.

      Unassigned You are completely correct in that poor behavior should not be rewarded. However, rehabilitation needs more than just negative reinforcement. Especially when many of the people coming out of the system could end up repeating their crimes. There needs to be a balance of correction and redirection.

    • @MatthewPettersen
      @MatthewPettersen 7 років тому +2

      It is more than negative reinforcement, Betty. They lay out facilities with educational materials, such as, Books for prisoners to use to make a better life for themselves when they are released. You can not get rid of prisons, that would result in anarchy.

    • @BettyAlexandriaPride
      @BettyAlexandriaPride 7 років тому +6

      Matthew Pettersen I don't want to get rid of prisons AT ALL. They are definitely needed. The literature that you're referring to is in the direction that I'm referring to. What I personally want to see is a blending of correction and education in the system that is often muddled with abuse of power.
      No system is perfect, and no system will have a 100℅ success rate, however I feel that some prisons implement a much more effective system for redirection than others.
      I do not believe in rewarding bad behavior. I believe in cause and effect. Yet, I also understand the fickleness of human nature. I'm aware that there will always be inmates unwilling to reform. There is only so much the prison can do.
      Please don't mistake my cry of fixing the system with removing the system. I simply want to see a more effective system.
      For example, when a person is sent to a mental facility they are divided into groups based on circumstance and issue. A group in mod A may only have issues with suicidal/homicidal thoughts, mod B may have planned out their actions, mod C has physical ailments that add to their mental state, and mod D is impulsive as well as unstable.
      The group's treatment plan is tailored generally for the majority of members. They won't have time to get to every individual patient if there is a large number, however, they can better tackle issues and facilitate each mod with the necessities in addition to customized material for rehabilitation.
      They are all made to realize that they are responsible for their actions and have control over their actions. They are reminded that it is OK to ask for help and are directed to programs that can alleviate some of the issues they may have. There is a quiet room for manic episodes or insubordinate patients. They provide coping skills. However, patients are stripped of any possible weapons, are required to wear a uniform, have schedules and strict visiting hours. The process for discharge is lengthy, but includes medication if needed, books of coping skills and resources to reintegrate into society, hotline numbers etc.
      They do not want to see their patients again, but sometimes they do have repeats. Some are tougher than others in their approach to clients, but none of them baby any of them.
      That's clearly an isolated and accelerated case, yet I feel as though a similar program with certain standards and expectations can be achieved in our prisons. I just want to see a more effective corrective system across the board. They're vital for our communities, and though we can't save everyone, having the compassion to try and continue to strive will be seen. Just as apathy will be seen.

      Sam Thompson The guys in the video (who all committed petty crimes): say they can't wait to start businesses and contribute to society in a positive way after having years and years to think about themselves and the things they did when they were younger (which were due to poor circumstances they were put in by the capitalist society we're in and the school-to-prison pipeline).
      You: THEY'RE THREATS TO SOCIETY! THEY'LL MURDER OUR CHILDREN AND PILLAGE OUR HOMES!

    Ping's story absolutely floored me 13 years for conspiracy is absurd. I just wanted to hug him when he was talking about the dehumanization of convicts💔. I can't even fathom the mental fortitude it takes to stay positive in that environment. may they all do big and better things in the future. ✊

There wasn't much but I found his LinkedIn account and that's what was written in his description! You can look it up yourself if you aren't sure : " Ping Lieu ".

      The original idea behind the prison system, as explained by rationalists like Jeremy Bentham, was for it to be a rehabilitation center for offenders...offenders get to see what it feels like to have their rights taken away and then they are provided with tools to help them reintegrate into society...so exactly like this.

      alZiiHardstylez these prisoners seem to be in transition. Meaning they have less than 2 years of their sentences left or are up for parole. Step down procedures vary depending on the facility.

    • @zellybrat1462
      @zellybrat1462 7 років тому +4

      It depends on the prison and the prisoner, yes I have had experience with people who have been in prison and one who is in prison right now. Most are pretty chill, mainly because they don't want to get sent to solitary or have an LOP (loss of privilege) put against them. Some prisoners can be like those you see in the movies and T.V. shows, but they have a tendency of always being locked in the hole (solitary) or they get transferred to a different facility because the guards: A. don't want to deal with them anymore. B. they've done something to get a longer sentence. or C. The person overseeing their case, whether that be the judge or their case-worker, has decided a transfer is necessary because the people they are around are not conducive to their rehabilitation.
