The 2025 Lucid Gravity Is The Long Range Family Hauler We've Been Waiting For
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 лис 2023
- The Lucid Motors Gravity looks like the 3-row EV SUV to beat! As long as you can afford the ~$80,000 starting price... If you have a Volvo EX90 or Rivian R1S on order, or you’re shopping for a Model X alternative, put your purchase on hold because you’ll want to check this SUV out. ✋
At first glance the numbers seem insane and impossible: 440+ miles of range, 3.5 seconds to 60, 200 miles of charging in 15 minutes, AND 7 seats. But that's exactly what Lucid is saying we'll get.
The 900V architecture doesn’t just charge rapidly, it’s also extremely efficient allowing over 500 miles of range in the Air sedan and it looks like all of that tech has been massaged into the boxier Gravity.
We don’t know horsepower, battery, or legroom/headroom numbers yet, but let’s talk about what we do know. We know it’ll have a somewhat “sport wagon” vibe thanks to the seemingly low roofline and long proportions. From some angles it seems boxy, from others it seems sleek. I think it’s handsome combo. The shapes also appear to belie the size of the Gravity which will offer 112 cubic feet cargo space (including frunk). That puts it 22 cubes OVER a BMW X7.
Seating capacity will be 7, at least for now, and Lucid has yet to send us any pictures of the third row but we know seating will be 2+3+2 with the third row always being a 2-seat setup. My guess is that like other luxury segment vehicles there will be a 6 seat version at some point.
The interior is largely similar to the Air sedan with a few tweaks. The biggest is the steering wheel which has been squared off rather than just flat bottomed like we see in the sedan. There’s still the enormous windshield/roof combination glass up front and a huge driver’s LCD. It’s 34 inches and will contain drivers controls, the instrument cluster and mapping. There’s also a dedicated infotainment display between the front seats. Not a fan of screen controlled air vents? Neither is Lucid, we get regular easy-to-adjust vents front and rear.
In the second row we have shoulder belts integrated into the seats which should make getting in and out of the third row easier and perhaps simplify access if you have a child seat belted into place. The floor is as flat as you’d expect and there is of course another pane of glass over the back seats.
#Lucid #LucidGravity #LucidAir
What do you think of the newest 3-row EV? Is this enough to get you to step away from a Rivian R1S order? It’s likely larger than an EX90, although again, we have almost no hard numbers on the dimensions. How about a Model X? I suspect if I had $80 large to drop on a new family hauler, this is the direction I’d lean…

Love what lucid air is doing they are really taking consideration of the driver and passengers.
Lucid is the company. The air is a sedan.
Beautiful. I want Lucid to succeed so bad.
Buy it then.
@@johnreed5056i will when they will be available in the Uk
It is really the ultimate EV SUV! I hope it puts Lucid in the green.
Awesome video recap, Alex. Love this vehicle and how thoughtful the overall design execution is (e.g., shoulder belts integrated in rear seats, those defog/defrost and other ancillary controls always available at the left part of the expansive driver's screen, the actual air vents, etc.)
Reminds me of the Chrysler Pacifica with the style.
Beautiful car, can’t afford it.
And another looker from Lucid! Hope you get a chance to see one on the auto show floor.
It’s Art on wheels, gorgeous! Another excellent review, thank you!
80k is a little steep for an average "family". The side profile looks more like an honda odyssey than a SUV, so that's interesting.
It’s aim for people that would look to buy an xc90, tx, mdx , x7, q7, gle etc. not sure how big that market is though
I agree, I just watched another yt video on it. It looked like the 3rd row folds like a minivan.
That massive windshield… god help you and your insurance premiums if you crack that thing 😭
Thank You for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth... Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste.. 🙏🏻 😊 🌈 ✌ ☮ ❤
They really know how to make beautiful cars without making it obvious how much work went into it.
Have they got heated sensors (radar/LiDAR) for winter ADAS functionality?
I look forward to your follow up video.
Looks like there's a lot to like about this one. I like the wagon-esque look and the squared off rear storage area. I'm still not thrilled by windshield wiper controls being on a touchscreen instead of a stalk, but at least they've got a full steering wheel and turn signals on a stalk.
Physical airvent control!! Amazing
It looks very attractive and yes, they appear to be focusing on what buyers want most: interior space and range. What I'm most disappointed about is the pricing. If Lucid doesn't figure out a way to scale their production and lower their prices, they will wind up being a boutique OEM for the wealthy (owned by the wealthy by the way since they are mostly owned by the Saudi Government). Full disclosure, I'm a LUCID stockholder so I'm not trying to poo-poo the brand...just giving my honest opinion.
The Air and Gravity aren’t the ‘affordable’ models they’re more EQS priced/ EQE, and they’re very competitive products in that category, the ‘affordable’ M3/Y competitor are supposed to come around 2026
They are undercutting the Mercedes EQS SUV by $24k and matching the price of the ancient Tesla Model X. You are smoking crack if you think the price was going to be way lower. The Model Y competitor will come in ~3 years. Like Tesla's first mass market vehicle, 5 years after the launch of the premium sedan.
They are a luxury brand. You could make the same criticism of Porsche and it would be equally misplaced
The folks sitting in the frunk look comfortable.
The minivan-like side profile looks pretty attractive honestly.
Please ask if they will make the third row optional. I'd much rather have the cargo space than the third row!
Yes it will be optional. This car will come in 5, 6 or 7 seats
You can bend it down
Excited for you to report on the third row for me!
What a beauty . Getting ready to place an order for myself and 4 of my employees 👍
Will a spare tire fit in the sub frunk like in the Air? If not how about the sub trunk?
Does the frunk have a physical button to open or do you need to use the key/app to open?
Will a sheet of 4'x8' plywood fit in it with the back closed?
Beautiful vehicle!!
Is it going to be manufactured with NACS next year?
Do you guys have faith in ~$80k starting price?
I'll buy if 440 mi are real at 80k - 7.5k tax credit
😂 no. I’d bet on at least 2 years of special editions at 150+ before anything sub-100 ships - if ever.
They’ve stated production begins in 2024. Pretty sure this one, with the 440mi range and a 80k price tag will be sold next year. We might actually get an even cheaper Pure version as well…
Great SUV!!
well done lucid
Looks like the third row seating is in the Frunk. 😂
I AM İN LOVE🔥🔥🔥
Looks like a newer generation Pacifica.
Which is a good thing the Pacifica is a good looking car
@@edgarbier7461Pacifica needs an update pronto.
@williamerazo3921 Which is why we're saying it's a good thing this looks like an UPDATED pacifica, because as you put it, it "needs an update pronto".
Mercedes Benz copied it also
This looks nothing like a Pacifica 🤷
The future is here😋
Amber indicators? And why did thet put the charging port behind the front wheel and not on a front or rear corner?? If they're going NACS it doesn't make sense having the port out of reach.
Will this vehicle have a NACS port right from the start?
No
This will help lucid, but I wonder if they can survive until they get the model 3/y competitor on sale in like 2026
Tesla survived on the model s and/or x for 5 years. Low volume can still be high profit.
@@emoney1231at the rate lucid is burning cash I think they’ll be out of it by the end of next year? they literally lost like 230K per car sold in Q3, If the Saudi’s don’t keep pouring money into them, (and let’s be honest they have money in them for green washing more then anything else), lucid goes belly up
@@emoney1231Yes but Tesla rose in an era when the economy was booming, interest rates were low, and there was literally little to no competition. Now Lucid is entering high interest rates, higher materials cost, a still resilient but not as booming economy, and tons of competition. I agree, I hope Lucid (and Rivian) pulls through and succeeds (I am more optimistic with Rivian), but I am not so optimistic with Lucid. I hope I am wrong. I really love the styling on the Lucids over the more conservative (and sometimes bland) Teslas. It would be nice to have more US-based startups than just Tesla so we can better compete with the Chinese and European brands.
Totally two different vehicle. The Model Y is a mid to low end vehicle with subpar range. The Gravity is a mid to upper end vehicle with much more range.
@@emoney1231 on the other hand, one positive thing to note that a Nasdaq article brought to my attention, is Lucid is heavily backed by Saudi money. If that holds long enough to see the sales of the Gravity they may have a fighting chance. I wasn’t too worried with Rivian because of Amazons backing and they are now closing in on their revenue gap.
Wondering what combined legroom is going to be. Curious how that 3rd row is.
Throttle House have actually done a thorough hands-on review of a pre-production example - leg & head room is very good, and the third row is also roomy. (but their 6'6 camera man didn't QUITE have enough head room in the third row)
Watch Kbb UA-cam gravity review will show interior details
@gregsullivan7408 i think it good , third row is usually for kids or people less than 6 feet
This thing looks awesome. If they can deliver, they will sell every one of their initial production. Alex, are you intimating that the Kia EV-9 is vaporware? It is noticeable that you didn’t list that vehicle as a potential competitor.
The EV9 will be a lot LESS vapor-ware than the Lucid! 😀
They are NOT in the same class IMO
@@macddsdimension-wise probably are in the same class. But all else is miles different: power, performance, efficiency, technology, probably comfort as well. That’s why the prices will be different as well! :)
SUV and minivan had a baby
It is probably the best EV with superb design, luxury, comfort, performance and most important range. Main wish list would be the ability to charge with Tesla Supercharger Network including its integration with Navigation. The Tesla SC is the only reliable charging system in USA. Will have to kiss Elon Ring and pay up. I own Model S, X.
1500lb payload in a 7 seater seems low
Besides its range, I wonder how efficient (kWh/mi) this is. I know that the Lucid Air (with the smaller aero wheel) can reach 4.0 kWh/mi, which is an impressive figure for such a big sedan.
Uhm, you probably meant 4mi/kWh, right? :) As for the Gravity, somewhere it was stated the efficiency will be 3.6mi/kWh for this version… :)
(2:25) … I agree… this is a wagon, not an SUV… kind of like the Volvo V90 Cross Country wagon… if they have an option for two rows of seats only, I’m interested, though there’s way too much overhead glass for my taste… This looks like competition for the Polestar 3…
Serious Question: Can the 12v battery charge off of the main propulsion battery?
Yes
That's how all EV'S maintain charge on the 12 volt system. If you mean, can you jump the 12v with the main battery if the 12v runs dead while the vehicle is off, then the answer is no, because the charge controller is managed by a computer, which requires the 12v power.
Hopefully there wont be uneven panel gaps unlike on the air
Love the car and Lucid... but is it just me or does the profile of the gravity looks like a kia Sorento... again also a good looking car
Rear hatch looks like it was lifted from a Lincoln Corsair
Beautyy
Does promo material say ‘Frunk seats two skinny models comfortably’ ?? 😂😂
The larger the rim the better, as long as the tire profile isn't too low. (the minimum I'd accept is 45)
Not sure if it’s the D pillar or the belt line but something looks off from the side. The front is much sexier than the Air
That 420 miles in AZ is more like 320 with AC and summer heat. Probably same in Michigan during winters
Still would be better than any other vehicle facing the same issue
@christopherswiney3873 Oh definitely, Lucid makes some solid cars. I'm sure this one will be just as good as the Air
The market is primed for automatic rail mounted seatbelts again!
Looks like Lucid designer have never driven outside of California, where there's real winter and roads are filled with rocks and windshield cracks is a common occurence
Model S/X have similar glass and it has been proven to be usable since 2012.
The only thing that matters is if it can live up to the advertised range.
If only Lucid had their supercharger stations as many as Tesla😮💨
Great for sunburn on my bald head
I'll be impressed when Lucid can make a profit and keep the price down. Seems like a cool car though
Finally an EV minivan!
I think this will make them more competetive and viable in the EV market !!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO LUCID "LCID"
Thanks for the news Alex!
This looks very promising.
The vehicle for sure, the company though still may be on shaky ground even with recent investments.
Sigh, $80,000 STARTING price... another rich person's toy... too bad, in green, its beautiful..
Looks incredible. $80k is attainable.
@@Slayer-33 um, the average salary for a US teacher if $40k... So I don't think 'attainable' is the right word...
@@iannealcole 'dirt heap' ha ha ha ha... it's a rich persons toy... useless...
I’m trading in my Ford F-150 limited for this ❤… This vehicle is GORGEOUS!!!!
Gravity is probably roughly ~10 inches longer then the air
No. Like 2 inches longer
440 miles is 150k?
Soo a Pacifica EV by Lucid..?
Thats one pricey spicey minivan
Most important for me: can full-sized adults fit in the 3rd row, as they can with the EV9?
Yes, definitely yes.
I hope the make a 3rd row delete to prioritize cargo capacity.
John Mayer has entered the chat
Cant wait to not afford.this as well.
Even sienna can be high as 60k
Kia Carnival 2.0
And most people can’t afford it. 🙄
No thanks. I’ll pay $20k less for the Kia EV9.😊
It's a 3 row electric vehicle, yes, but it's a very different experience and that's what Lucid is counting on people to pay for. -Travis
Tray table has always being a thing for minivans in other markets, there is no tray table in any of US versions of minivans, I thought it’s Illegal here in the United State because of some safety reasons, but is it now legal or is it just my misunderstanding of the law? If it’s legal, then how come none of the minivans or even luxury 3 row SUVs have them?
It’s not illegal, companies just don’t bother to give them to us. Chrysler used to have a table, and luxury cars have trays like these in a few models
I thought it was a crash safety issue. I thought the VW ID Buzz similar has trays in the European version but are removed for US
all they need to do is make th save car compact, midsize and large SUVs and they will dominate. Not sure why they wasted all that time with the Air
Let me know when there is a Lucid Ground. You know something in the $30K range that doesn't have to be extremely fast. 😅 This is nice for someone that doesn't want the boxy shape of the R1S. I still think the R1S looks nicer tho but this is cheaper so.
The Rivian has dual motor trims starting around the same price, $78K.
Not in your lifetime. It’s a luxury brand. Diluting it makes no sense.
nice presentation, ty
440 miles range??? I'll believe it when I see it in the real word. To me the R1S, looks better, nicer presence. Lucid have been called out on poor build quality, and durability of their vehicle, just watch YT, plenty of video. Plus, the way their financial situation is going, maybe Lucid won't be around for long.
Thank you Alex
To Each it's own, otherwise everybody will wear, eat, drive, and marry the same. To your eyes it may look ugly, to others it is marvelous. @@vickykennel7414
80K price is unlikely.
Should the word ‘we’ve’ been waiting for in the title be replaced with ‘wealthy people’ ??
Luv the vehicle though !!!
Nice car... for the rich and uber-rich.
The rich don’t Uber (kidding! 😅)
@@AAutoBuyersGuide No, but seriously, I'm an Uber driver and am seriously considering reserving one of these.
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO LUCID✨️ FAMILY❤️ KEEP ADDING ON TO YOUR LUCID✨️ POSITIONS EVERYONE STAY FOCUSED AND DISCIPLINE HARD WORK DEDICATION TOGETHER AS ONE LUCID✨️ FAMILY GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE!🙋♂️❤️🥳🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉🎉🕺🕺🕺😁💯😉👍
Can I get a real steering wheel, not only does it look stupid, I don’t need so much information while driving that the tiny part of that giant screen setup covered up by a wheel would hinder my ability to drive , it would be annoying every single time I turn the wheel
Great range and style, but it's a minivan.
Another SUV that could've been a (slightly) smaller minivan, RIP.
80 grand starting. The average family is definitely not waiting for this.
Sigh, another big ass vehicle on the road. Electric SUVs this large just dont make sense to me. At the same time tho, im impressed with the tech and range.
People have families and needs to carry cargo. Not everyone is you.
@@Aegisx5how did anyone get thru the 80s where vehicles were 1/2 the size and families were bigger?
Oh right it’s because we’re all 2x the size now.
@@Aegisx5 Didn't say everyone was me, don't put words in my comment. Sedans, stationwagons, small crossovers, fast hatchbacks and others have more than enough space to serve the average American family. These are made for people tricked to believe they need the biggest, heaviest dangerous road destroying vehicle on the market on the off chance your family of 4 and all their worldly possessions need to cross the country.
The gravity is so ugly wow. Why would they want it to look like a minivan? I have no doubt the motors / batteries are great. But my god. This thing got beat with the ugly stick
An $80k family car - when will UA-cam Influencers like Alex stop hyping over priced EVs? No wonder the EV market is slowing.
GIVE ME AN ELECTRIC MINIVAN why is this so difficult??
Mainly because regular minivans don’t sell well and I’m not sure how many would really pay $80k for an electric minivan. 🤷♂️
Isn’t that what the VW id buzz is?
LOL this is practically the honda odyssey. they just call it a SUV because calling it a SUV sells better.
@@AAutoBuyersGuide In China, this year, so many full electric minivan came out, they all look good while sell for around $60000, I wonder if you guys can cover some of them, really looking forward to see US reviewers' point of view
Other than sliding doors, is this not an electric minivan?
This is assuming Lucid survives into 2025.
Why is Tesla fan boys praying for lucid downfall so bad ? 🤔
@@rashiewonyene Nobody is praying Lucid to fail. Also Tesla needs competition.
It’s operating as a Tesla model X without a decent charging network.
You missed the part where it has NACS?
Stopped at $80k. Automakers are way out of touch with reality in America.
This was never going to be cheap but if they keep selling in the numbers they need to we'll keep seeing models like this. -Travis
@@AAutoBuyersGuideDepends on economic conditions and any subsidies the government will provide. For my part, I'll simply quit bothering to buy a car if we're tripling what was already pretty highly priced.
@@TechButlerthat's exactly what the government wants - the great unwashed to quit buying cars
This ain’t for everyone in America. It’s a luxury niche van. That’s a tiny market. They only need to sell like a few of these - plus they’re a tiny company with a small factory.
I don't believe that it will get 440 mile per charge. If it does, will it charge in 10 minutes? If not, it is not practical fir the average driver. I will never buy an EV. Not until the EPA Commies force me....😢
What is the point of a third row?
What a ridiculous question
@@gregsullivan7408 Please do tell why would somebody want a third row ? A luxury one at that
80k lol!
Why does everyone say Lucid is the best? It literally is the worst car company that exist. Nothing they do is right. They make very poor quality vehicles and they charge a lot of money. They never keep any of their promises. They can’t deliver on time and they’re quality is awful I just don’t understand why anyone likes this company
I ask the same about Tesla.
Everything great about this except it looks like a minivan.
It is a minivan, that’s the best thing about it.
It’s a lifted wagon not an SUV
22inch rims is overkill
