    Great video, I’m in the process of putting one together using two mini 100 AH batteries. That unit incorporated features I never considered. I need to find a RFI friendly 110 V inverter. The last one I tried completely shut down portions of the ham band during an outing.

    For a Ham channel, shouldn't you be leading with is it RF clean? What's the deal?

    • @dorvinion

      Inside its just a 12v battery - so plug into the 12v DC out port and it should be clean
      Whether or not its clean when its being charged or running the inverter dunno

      @@dorvinion Well, the whole point is to run your essential services along with the HF/VHF/UHF radio. During an emergency, you can't tell your family to suspend their needs just so you can conduct EMCOMM operations. They have to be able to coexist.

      Powering on the inverter caused no noticeable increase in my noise floor. I didn't check for RFI while charging it from the household AC though. It's been raining/cloudy since I received it so there was no chance for checking solar charge RFI.

    Nice! I've noticed that the price/watt hour math is getting better. I think I paid about $300 for a 300wh unit a couple of years ago. Twice. That's $1/wh on those, and this works out to around 50 cents/wh. Excellent review Jason, thanks!

    These units are a great idea. I purchased the Anker Solix version on sale during the Amazon prime day sale and love it.

    them are a must have. I have a few different ones now. Some not so RFI quit. one is pretty RFI QUIT. It very a lot from brand to brand and model to model. just have to test for that . This is something you can tell you partner how much I cost and we both get to use it and how much you can do with it. Then you realize you need to buy 2 . LOL 73

    I've got the Liciti. Its a DIY version. I put a 4500 watt hour battery diy in it. I added externally 15,360 watt hours more to it externally. It doesn't have as big of an inverter in it, but I could always add a large one to the bank. Its all charged with solar. I really love my set up. Oh, and the inverter , I think 2000 watt, is sine wave. But, I run my ham station directly on the huge Lithium battery bank. The liciti would be able to come with me into my truck and run a station from it, and, as I said, 4400 watt hours of battery inside the Liciti that I put in it. DIY all the way. Su[er reasonable cost. N6GRG

    Nice unit. Not available here in Canada. Blue Yeti version about $1500 ( little less ). but not expandable. There is one system out there that will go up to 7Kw with 3 expansion packs. But those are huge bucks. Planning on some sort of unit, but it will take some saving. There is a nice 2Kw setup with 2 200watt solar panels for around $2500 that I like. I'm looking at that one. There is a smaller 1024w unit for $899 that I may get in the mean time as a temp system until I can afford a better unit.

    That 1kw is entry level at best. Quite a few of us have had nice all-in-one units for several years already. Some of us have actually also built our own power stations for half the cost of those fancy ones (I have a fancy 4kw Bluetti and a custom homebuilt 4kw).

    • @KM4ACK
      @KM4ACK  Місяць тому +1

      Depends on your needs. The 1kw version isn't for powering an entire house but it's perfect for my application. Short outings where I need to power a few devices or recharge camera batteries and laptops.

  • @kaboom4679

    Prices are decent , and the feature set ilooks pretty good . Sure you can build your own version , but these kind of packaged units have the benefit of slick integration and use of propriety hardware and software that is difficult to achieve on a DIY build , at least to the same degree .
    A built in SCC and , current limiting on the charging is a big selling point . Lithium cells will take all the current you can throw at em , which can kill your alternator . So charging them from a vehicle usually means you want a DC - DC converter in line to keep that magic smoke inside the alternator .

    • @KM4ACK
      @KM4ACK  Місяць тому +1

      Agree. Just a 100Ah battery is ~$200 and then another $150-200 for the inverter in this unit. At that point we are already at $350-400 and still need more components and wiring. The price for this unit is fair at $499.

    It also eats itself.... drops the battery even with the inverters/converters turned off.....

    What's the 'scoop' on the solar cell recharging? Have you had a chance to test it? Will you announce an update to your email list? Thanks!!
