I don't understand how some people can say they don't like the way Dio sang the ozzy songs, He sang them with Guts, Depth, Power, Passion, Emotion and above all with a thunderous voice from the pits of Hell! Thank God he didn't sang them like ozzy, he was and will always be Ronnie James Dio🤘
100% Agree!
Different sounds
It's expected. There will always be comparisons of an original artist to the new guy. Either way, Sabbath Dio is the best. Children of the Sea, c'mon. Best song in music let alone Sabbath.
I agree 100% 👏👏 Rip DIO🤘
For sure !!!
Mob Rules is a great album. The Dio years were epic.
Yeah, I was 15 or so. I saw this show. I remember the first time I heard mob rules on the radio, I was thinking this good shit. It was bad ass rock. I listened to that album over and over. No pun intended.😊
You and me both! This brings back great memories.
Heaven and Hell reaffirmed my belief in Sabbath as the true innovators they have always been. Tony Iommi is a flippin' enigma.
Yeah I know
Live Evil on video
Dio brought Sabbath back to life. 🤘🏼
After coke killed them
That bass is on fire! Don't forget to give Geezer some love.
The best bassist ever
Yes, truly a delight. Too bad Vinny Appice was all over the place.
Geezer has always been a monster.
I saw them in Milwaukee '80. SABBATH barely started playing when some HOOLIGAN threw a bottle at Geezer, injuring him. DIO announced Show OVER!! A riot ensued. Very Intense ending for the band & the fans. I hope that fan got his Ass kicked!! At least I got to see Blue Oyster Cult play a full set, before Sabbath came on
@@tollboothwillie6192 That doesn't seem so bad. BOC was at their peak in those days, while Sabbath's was a bit far behind.
The real voice of heavy metal forever..One and only..Ronnie James Dio.
There were about ten, look up best top rock singers from the 80 ties my first show he was great live and kept going,,,,RIP DIO
Dio sits at the top. @@bruzza1

Vinny Appice is absolutely killing it. Terrifying.
^ what they said. Vinny's murdering that kit.
THIS is Vinny at his BEST ..🤘🤘
Oh my God what a voice and what a band

I´m 65 years old rocker and since 12 years old I´m a real Sabbath fanatic. For me, Dio is the greatest frontman in the Heavy Metal History and this video is really fantastic. Thank you so much for posting and remember........Keep on rollin!!!!. Greetings from Xalapa, Vearcruz in México.
I saw this tour at pine knobtheater ln Michigan.
saw it in Miami
@traphaelaugostolarrpalmersos. Hope I got that right. I'm 60 and Kiss 1st late 75.! Sabbath not long after. That was Sabbaths 1st album recorded on to a 8trk tape
! Yes they could do that. Had that and Dark side of the moon on recorded 8trk.! Was 12 yr old in 76.! 1st Kiss album given to me was Alive.! 1st one I bought was R n R over 76.! 1st Sabbath album vinyl given to me was Vol 4.! 1st one I bought was Sabotage.! Still fanatical for both.! Cheers from Daytona Beach Florida..
I am 50 years old. Should i be sad not be older? No, not really. But the truth is i missed lots and lots of concerts just because i've been too young in the late 70s and early 80s. And some things in life will never come back. Anyway, rock and roll on, guys!!
Dayton Ohio Hara arena
I love Ozzy but this version of Black Sabbath is still my favorite.
Difiero contigo la mejor versión de la canción Black Sabbath es con Ian Gillan
i saw this tour in Seattle and Ozzy the same year. Glad to see Ronnie fronting them it was an epic experience.
@@heavyercuadra3521That was a pretty good version.
You would have really liked the original sabbath
Yeah, I saw all of the versions of Sabbath and they were the best with Dio. Dio had the voice that allowed them to soar. Best voice in not only metal but all of rock.
My first ever concert. Unbelievable power. My ears rang the whole next day as I was 10 ft off the stage in front of Tony Iommi. I was 17 and absolutely Godsmacked! R.I.P Ronnie.
I was 15 and five feet from the stage but in front of the speakers on Tony's side. Mostly I watched dio and geezer . It was an epic event for sure. Loved those sabbath albums with dio. Still do.
I saw that tour and my ears rang as well. Great Concert
Vinny Appice and his hammers!!! The heaviest EVER!!! MONSTROUS!!!
I think he's about 22 years old here. He was real young when he scored the gig to sit in for Ward.
@@robwilson3749 Vinny would’ve turned 25 in September of ‘82

I saw him in a drum clinic he did in Maine in 1989. He was incredible. I think he broke 3 of the cymbals on the kit that night!

Any real musician appreciates this man's voice
The BEST Sabbath lineup EVER....Long Live Ronnie DIO...............
100%, bet
No. Dio was great and I love HnH and TMR, but Osbourne, Ward Butler, and Iommi were the best Sabbath lineup.
You're not wrong.
@@kristopherloviska9042
I think you bumped your head or your just Snowblind..
Not only the best Sabbath lineup but possibly the best lineup by any band.
Sabbath`s "Live Evil" possibly the most underrated live record ever.....
Agreed. Still amazed at 'Voodoo' and 'Black Sabbath' versions. This album gets very little love.
Only its not very live.... Ronnie called it a piece of shit lol....go to 1 min 30 secs. ua-cam.com/video/GGqz9CYXalQ/v-deo.htmlsi=r31eSVnJLG2eDG7N
I bought it at the time having seen the tour. The crowd mix was quiet. Still, great live versions.
Ozzysongs are not to Dio
Meh. it wasn't really "live" per se. As Ronnie had said in the past it was patchwork and overdubs and punch ins and he wanted nothing to do with it.
Saw Sabbath on this tour in Kansas City, as well as seeing Ozzy on the "Diary of a Madman" tour, around the same time...and yes, Randy Rhoads was incredible live. I enjoyed Ozzy's first few solo albums and the DIO Sabbath albums. It was a win-win situation for both the artists AND the fans! 👏
Blizzard of Oz was killer saw in Columbus ohio moterhead was opening act
Вам повезло видеть легенд в живую .
Ренди Роудс потрясающий гитарист .
Indeed, both Sabbath and Ozzy went on to even better things independently of each other. That's why I could never understand the constant clamor for a reunion that had already started by this point in '82.
saw this tour in Oakland Ca, and Ozzy same yr. Back in the day when you could see 8 to 10 great bands every yr, and not pay over 20.00 for a ticket.
this is 100% correct
Back when concerts were great. Best times ever.
Ozzy is Ozzy and Dio is Dio. Both delivers.
Vinne is a beast so fast and articulate but still heavy
Dio was a true force of nature. In all live recordings, his performance is majestic. I'd even say it's better than studio records. In my opinion, the best heavy rock vocalist of all time.
yes. yes!
Absolutely, and I love all the old school metal vocalists....Gillan,Coverdale,Ozzy,Meine,Halford, Dickinson etc. but Dio was in a class all his own.
Agreed 👏
@@StitselThat list of vocalist's is absolutely stunning .... Love them all 🌟
Dickinson and Halford came first to mind but all of them amazing.
Love Dio in Rainbow Black Sabbath and Dio ⚡⚡⚡
Children Of The Sea. One of their absolute best song in their whole catalogue. From Canada, Peace Out!!
So much better than with Ozzy. A professional, powerful performance from Dio. The very best version of Sabbath.
Omg, goosebumps all over when Ronnie starts singing Neon Nights. He is one of the best metal singers ever imo. Thanks for sharing this vid😊
Ronnie Dio, honestly, what a voice.
I love ozzy but ronnie is an accomplished vocalist in every sense of the word....RIP
This performance, in particular, is just so spot on! Ronnie was in rare form and the band was hot. Incredible sound on this whole recording as well!⚓️
My first concert ever, and I went alone as a junior in HS. The Outlaws opened up the show. It was a hell of a night.
I saw this tour in so fla in hs, but the outlaws didn't open. I did see Molly hatchet/ outlaws about the same time though. God bless brother.
Agreed! We saw this tour at the LA Forum....frying on "Goofy" blotter acid no less! We started to peak just as The Outlaws finished their set. Green Grass and High Tides FOREVEN, Man! 🤣 Then 'Sabbath came on and TOTALLY blew us away..... Requiescat In Pace, Dio, and my best friend Rob-Dog who I saw it with.
I cannot imagine this on lsd. I think I ate some mushrooms before a David Gilmore show. I did not eat that much but it was a freaky little concert. I drank and smoked so much b4 the mob rules show. I must have been 15. My friend was huffing helium or some shit and fell backwards in his seat during the show and puked all over himself. A real buzz kill. I was just watching or listening to an old audio of ozzy on blizzard of Oz tour. I saw ozzy with randy rhoades but maybe the next album, I am not sure. Anyways, it was a good show but the mob rules just sounds much better. Ozzy sounded kind of fucked up. Thanks for responding. Sorry for your friend passing away. God bless. Rob From South florida.
@@user-fp9qg3qm5b We lived out in the SoCal high desert between Mojave and Death Valley, and for us just getting to the Forum was a long drive. The 4 of us were smoking weed and drinking beer and JD the whole way to LA. There were a bunch of us party animals from town and we met a bunch of friends in the parking lot. We dropped the Goofy (so named because a lot of blotter acid in the '80's had Disney characters on the tabs, this batch was "Goofy" instead of Mickey Mouse...LOL) in the parking lot as we were partying, so we started frying at the start of the Outlaws set and peaked right as they finished. It was so intense, and when 'Sabbath came on... Wow, just....WOW! One of the most memorable concerts I've ever seen, and not just because of the acid. Me and Rob-Dog were huge Dio fans from before his time in Sabbath (we wore out Rainbow Kill The King, etc.) and this was our first time seeing him and with Sabbath it was just that much more awesome.
I went AWOL from artillery training in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma to catch their December 4th, 1981 show in Philly. No way was I gonna be stationed in Europe for a couple years without seeing Sabbath one final time! Round-trip airfare and all else totaled about $400 in 1981 dollars, but it was worth every penny.
His voice was better live than on the albums. There will never be another RJD. I’ve paid my respects at his grave in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in LA. Rest In Peace sir, you were one of the best ever.
I lived in Glendale in 2016 and went there a few times. I am now confused. Sabbath was playing their final show then but I chickened out. Anyways, I saw this tour in hs.
Every thing happens as meant to be Ozzy solo career Dio give new life to the band history is made for all of us to enjoy legends never die
For sure.

Absolutely
Geez and Tony were 34 years old here. Young and unstoppable.
And yet , they conspired against Ronnie on Live Evil . Bravo ..
Best Sabbath lineup ever....hands down.Dio.....God on vocals.Saw them in Syracuse for this tour.Homecoming celebration for Ronnie.Too bad this audio and video are not the same show. But whoever did a pretty good job meshing
On the Live Evil LP Dio says it was "being filmed." Too bad we never go to see the real video
Ronald James Padavona (Ronnie James DIO) The best of best, inconfundible timbre vocal, el mejor vocalista de Black Sabbath sin duda alguna😉🤟👏🙌
No way. It doesn't sound unique without ozzy. Sounds like so many other bands. It doesn't sound bad, he's a great singer, just not that great connection with the audience, it isn't Black Sabbath without ozzy.
@@galetinm you're the one person who feels that way
I was serving in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 82......Much to the annoyance of my fellow Squaddies in our Barracks....Mob Rules and Iron Maiden,s ''Number Of The Beast'' Albums were played 24/7.....I think everyone was converted to Rock Music after our 3 Month Tour !!.......To all who made the conversion, you are welcome ;)
Saw Sabbath with The Outlaws opening for them in Casper Wyoming in 82. Just graduated high school. Awesome concert they kicked ass. We went to Arbys before the show and the dink behind the counter looked at his coworkers and said “this is why you don’t want concerts like this playing here”. We just laughed, got our food, went outside and smoked some more, ate and then went watched Sabbath initiate the Events center to metal. Memories!
Lol
Cool story. So sorry you had to live in Wyoming but it's cool that Sabbath was able to bring an element of normalcy to it for a few hours at least.
Living in Wyoming in 1982 is as close to a description of hell you're going to find.
I'm glad you survived.
I saw same tour but in Portland. Outlaws were good but dio was awesome!

First concert I ever saw was Black Sabbath on the Mob Rules Tour in Denver at McNichol's Arena. As a 15-year-old, I was blown away. The Outlaws opened for Sabbath and both bands kicked major a$$. Still love and listen to Black Sabbath and Dio to this day.
You, too?!
I saw them at The Forum in 1982 ..( I was 15 as well- born August 66) it was the third concert I went to ( Rush Anaheim 81 and The Police LA 1982 were the previous two).
Was it just me or were these guys not the loudest spectacle imaginable?!
My ears rang for two and a half days after the Mob Rules show.
Just the E5150 bass intro at the beginning shook the walls.
Then they kicked into Neon Knights and it really got loud.

Wow - what a treasure. I saw them at Madison Square Garden on this tour when I was 17. A band called Doc Holiday opened. It was awesome, but I wish I had then the full appreciation for what I was witnessing that I now have for RJD era Black Sabbath. I did not really know who RJD was when I attended - all I knew was that I wanted to see Black Sabbath. Who could have known at the time how far music would fall over the next 4 decades.
I saw this tour at Long Beach with The Outlaws opening! Had front row lodge seats right by Geezer, my biggest bass influence…I was in awe!
I was there too buddy. My first concert and it was incredible. I was 17 living in Santa Ana and couldn't think of a better place or time to grow up. Great times
Hell Yaz.. I was there too. My 1st Concert partying with friends. The first 2 things I noticed were the Hot Girls and the Massive Volume 🤘 Grew up in the L.B.C. 💯
I also was in the loge by Geezer. Was going to CS Northridge, so a bit of a drive home. UA-cam has full audio of this show! Super loud show, RJD ruled that era hands down.

I saw them with Dio in 81 loudest show ever .Dio was really something to see and hear they were at their peek
Yeah, I was 2nd row in front of the speakers. There were a mountain of speakers. The guy was doing the sound check for the drums and it almost knocked me out of my seat. The only concert I remember being as loud was rainbow with that stone cold song. I could not hear for about a week. But it was beautiful noise. Rock and roll ain't noise pollution.😊
jesus, the sound is so good, how could they play so tight?? wonderful
YOUR tellin // Jesus about Lucyfurr, the song saying please take my hand. Heh, no /lucy the made one the devil will kneel and give up his short stint. Deuteronomy says Lucy's wings had embedded tabrets and pipes, music instruments. Yeah he makes music but he is a copy of the real truth, most realistic but a carbonize copy. Finally a concert i went to. I saw them in hollywood fl. Second row in front of the huge speakers. My mom picked me up after the concert and she looked like she was in a war zone. I was 15 but only got the tickets because some other guy overdosed on qualudes and sold me two tickets for 20 dollars. I have to say, it was weird watching duo do the old sabbath at the time. But i loved the dio years. I also ozzy with randy rhoades right before he died. Also saw sabbath with gillian which was an amazing concert. I really paid however for all the drinking and drugs i did. Very bittersweet. I am now a believer in the Lord through suffering. Praise the Lord. Good luck everybody.
This was my first show up close. 8th row. Hollywood Sportatorium. Saw them with Gillian also at Sunrise. Night Ranger opened.
That show with gillian was probably my favorite concert ever. I forgot night ranger opened. I may have missed them I cannot recall. I remember seeing deep purple at the sportatorium also. That was a good show. I saw rainbow in West Palm which had to be the loudest concert I ever saw. I couldn't hear for a week. Anyways, thanks for replying. I am still here in Hollywood Beach so life goes on. I could have went to sabbath final show in L.A. but I talked myself out of it. That happens when you get old.😊
I was a huge Sabbath fan as a kid in the 70's and went to see this tour in Houston at the Coliseum. I was in elementary school. Went with a couple of friends. No parents. Smoked some weed. Rocked out. Had a great time. Such a different world today. So much simpler back then. Would have much rather seen Sabbath with Ozzy... but I was just born a little too late for that.

Pretty good mix from a concert from what 40+ years….I saw Sabbath for The Mob Rules Tour at the Checkerdome in STL 81-82 and when the first note chimed out from EU13O, I thought the concrete stairs and seating rows were going to crumble around me. It was booming loud and impatiently intense….a show I will probably never forget! Dio’s voice was captivating with cuts-like-a-knife lead from Tony Iomi’s. Great show!

yeah - surprisingly excellent sound - just like I remember it - saw the 16 November 1981 show in Kitchener - amazing!
Can only imagine being there I was like 10 didn't really know what metal was about but I had this album got it through Columbia records in the mail along with Heaven and Hell and Van Halans Mean Street album probably a couple others those are the ones I remember old man sarcastically looked at them and said I did good being a ass he meant well but a hard ass about everything
I believe it was a few days from that show I saw them in Springfield Illinois at the Prairie Capital Convention Center.... a great show!......
Saw saw this show in Southern California. Long Beach, I think. The Outlaws opened. Just before Sabbath came out, two hippie groders behind us accidentally dropped a joint behind my seat. They smoked it with me and my little group for retrieving it, and I think it was laced with something, because by the time Sabbath started I was hallucinating. The sound of E5150 played so loud through the PA scared the shit out my tripping brain!

AWESOME BLAST FROM THE PAST. R.J.DIO WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED. ROCK IN PEACE OLD BOY.👍
One of the many reasons Dio is the finest Heavy Metal vocalist to grace the stage. Listen to this powerful on point voice live. No matter his age his voice always stayed strong and lives on forever 🤘🏼❤
Saw them on the Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules tours--amazing !
Lucky!!
Thank you so much, Doctor Jazz&Rock (I love Jazz too!)! Seen them in '92!!!
A teen this was my first exposure to Ronnie despite his past with Elf and Deep Purple. He was always fully committed to providing the best performance, the man had chops! The way he would deliver his vocals and his tone of voice were a powerful tool that he used to convey a wide range of emotions and mood in every song. Toni's guitar and solos also seemed so much better when playing with Ronnie.
Oh man I was only three years old in 1982. I will be forever grateful for UA-cam because I get to see this remarkable footage.
Saw the Mob Rules tour Greensboro Coliseum Feb 16th and Charlotte Coliseum NC Feb 26th 1982 they were amazing live with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Cheers 🍻
I was also in Charlotte on the 26th . It was snowing outside and Sabbath blew the roof off that place. Was about 20 ft from the stage. Like others have said my ears were ringing for days.
My first concert ever. 14years old with my 19 year old brother. Scalped floor seats right before the show in Bethlehem, PA. Lehigh University Stabler Arena. Wow. My favorite memory was wondering how a 3ft bong made it past security. I remember boxes filled with drug paraphernalia, booze, and weapons that security had confiscated at the doors. 🤟
Lmao
Weapons wtf ! I understand that kids get crazy but still....... get comfortably numb and enjoy being blown away by Sabbath, ffs..... 😮😮😮
I saw Sabbath only 2x, 1st was Mob Rules Tour second was their 2012 with Ozzy, both were great! Outlaws we’re on stage first for Mob Tour, Green Grass and High Tides!
I saw this line up as well as Dio solo may times. There will never be anyone like Ronnie again. And Tony Iommi - just a different level.
Two of my best concerts involved Dio. 1)Rainbow crushing REO 2) Dio and Live Evil
REO opening for Rainbow ? Lol ! 😮😮 I guess they really wanted to be blown off stage ! Wth
I must say Toni's level of soloing evolved a shit ton after ozz era
Go back and listen to the Ozzy era Sabbath and Toni's solos again. His phrasings were tremendous, powerful, unique and had meaning and purpose.
Tony
@MrJohnnyDistortion TE album alone is full with some of best solos in rock music

Indeed! Great album. 👍🏼
I just started to get into Metal/hardrock with the Heavy Metal soundtrack. I was in middle school and this tour hit the Bay Area on a Wednesday and wanted to go so bad. My parent wouldnt let me go and was crushed. Later that year was able to get to ACDC For Those About to Rock show at the Cow Palace and started me on over 40 years of love of Metal, rock and all things live music
Wow sheer power and energy superb
Excellent drums!
Everybody is talking about the singers and they are both great but aren’ t you forgetting Tony Iommi in my opinion perhaps the biggest reason for the Sabbath’s greatness
Saw them at Long Beach Arena in 82 with Outlaws. Saw a friend in beer line and we started talking and walked out on floor. Ended up next to sound mixer area for show. Dio made you listen as he took charge of the stage. Great show. Saw Ozzie at US festival about 7 months later. No doubt who is the better of the 2 - Dio
I saw Black Sabbath with Dio in 1980 (Heaven & Hell tour) ….and in 1982 (for the Mob Rules tour) both concerts were so bad-ass! First concert was in Springfield, Mass. second was in Hartford, Ct. 🙏❤️🤘
They were so powerful, strong and charismatic! Great audio on this video!!
