Yes, the metalness issue for C4D with Redshift has been a problem for a long time. The way I fix it is by manually linking the metalness texture for those materials that have one, and not using an arbitrary metalness value for anything with metal in the material name. So whenever I buy a kit, a spend 1 to 2 hours fixing all that stuff but then I have an "updated" source project from which I import the assets into a project of mine; if I used Cargo, I would have to redo the material fixes every time I import an asset into a new project; I'd rather do it just once. Also, I don't use the Cargo subscription because I already had many of the kits before they introduced Cargo and I did not feel like buying them again by way of a subscription. Besides, I don't like subscriptions as a matter of principle and try to use as few of them as possible. While there are a few "Cargo exclusive" assets I might be interested in, I don't want them badly enough to get a subscription just for those; I can usually find something similar on sites like cgtrader.
Derek, Love your videos. Incredibly helpful with C4d and Redshift and Kitbash 3d Cargo. This video totally saved me from canceling my Kitbash Cargo subscription. I could not get Cargo to import to C4d and Redshift with all of the materials. Could not find anywhere that I need to check "Use Redshift Shader Graph" while using Redshift standard material setting to get the materials to import. This was driving me nuts! Thanks so much for the video. Please keep up the great content! Thank you!!
biggest problem od cargo is it doest work 90% of the time. I have 3 PCs, using in in blender and C4D, and its always buggy as shit when connecting to software.
Thanx for video =) btw, the backlightning not gone, they just moved this feature to SSS in thin film mode. Just tick the thin film box, and playaround with sss slider, this is the same as balckight in legacy shader =)
I'm not sure what you mean. When you toggle use thin film it does not affect the SSS in that way, and if you use Thin Walled then SSS goes away. So what values are you changing to get the result? Maybe I'm doing something wrong
Oh wait. I do see it. You can still use textures and to drive the sss color and use the thin wall to get that same effect. Nice thanks for the tip! But with thin walled, not thin film.
You sold when you said they have modular kit... You do not know how many hours / months you just saved me. I can now focus on the game and just substance painter thise kits
The direct answer is no, you're not legally allowed to use any assets or files (static meshes included) in new projects/scenes after your subscription ends.

Thanks! Yeah the products are so cool but sadly redshift isn't the nicest to play with others sometimes. Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Derek, very concise and knowledgeable as always.
Thanks!
Appreciate the amount of information you’re providing to get these kitbash models looking their best! Yes please dive into the displacement next!
Will do!

Interesting. I swap between blender ue5 and c4d with it without issue.

Ok I have to try this asap!
Don't you mean the "Thin Walled" box under "GEOMETRY"?
AFAIK, "thin film" is something else.
@@C4DRS4U sorry, you right =) Its call Thin walled in geometry tab in shader
