Been living in Coronado for two years inside the gate. The clinic you mentioned is not open 24 hours but daytime hours during the week and closed on Sunday. The closest emergency services are in San Carlos. Most of the roads where there are houses are not paved and in poor repair. Electricity goes out frequently and those with public water sometimes lose it. Security is not what it seems. While they may monitor cars going in and out there are other ways to access Coronado on foot. There are frequent thefts and reports of squatters. Someone attempted to rob our house in the middle of the night last year and it took 2 hours for the police to arrive. The beachfront houses and condos may have fewer issues but Coronado is not utopia by any means.
Thanks for sharing your insight. Sorry to hear about the attempted break in and poor police response time. Your comment will help someone who is considering Coronado.
As a black guy myself Panama is my dream country to retire. Nothing makes me happier to see successful fellow black folks moving over there. Hopefully in the future I will join you guys. I'm really working hard to make it. I love Panama so much. Cheers

Hello. My family and i are interested in Panama 🇵🇦 and Costa Rica 🇨🇷. We will be also leaving North Carolina. How are you guys liking it so far ? We live seeing comments from North Carolinians that have or are moving abroad. 😊
@@MomofFivesandbox Heya, Hon! The area we moved to in the mountains is awesome! The diversity within the forests of Altos del Maria is beyond explanation - the most natural I've ever been immersed in. There's quite a few expats living here, and the temperatures 15-20°F cooler than the Playa (which is only 30 minutes away). El Valle is only 30 minutes as well, using a private road from the back gate.
This was some great information. We plan on visiting there because my brother-in-law lives there. As a matter of face he's the guy in your video dancing in the club with the white hat. Yes, we are coming there and thank you!💕

Another "Exclusive" video lol. We took a cruise earlier in the year that docked in Panama for a day. The cruise port area wasn't very impressive but once outside of the cruise port area we were able to see a totally different side. Playa Coronado looks interesting but the lack of sidewalks really takes away from all the beautiful things in the video. Why would they not build sidewalks to encourage people to get out? Not being able to get out and take a nice walk in the morning or after dinner makes it a deal breaker. Thanks again for another good video!
I LOL for real during the mosquito part 😂😂😂 Be careful to check the malaria maps during your travels. I speak from personal experience. Love your videos!
You guys make great content. What you cover is interesting but how you cover it is interesting. I'd watch you guys cover a time share. No joke about those mosquitos! I hate hate hate them but they love love love me.
Hi guys, sorry I couldn't watch your videos I was under the weather 🤒🤧🤕 for bit with this Chicago changing weather, but anyways, Panama it is beautiful I've been there before, I have friend whos from Panama took there Coronado it is beautiful and there beaches and their food is amazing as well. Thank you guys for this video stay safe 🙏🏽
Good video, I didn't know the difference between Playa Coronado and Coronado. As far as lack of sidewalks, well that's a feature of country living. I live in the country in California and we don't have sidewalks either. Typically sidewalks are a feature of city or urban living, where they tax the local residents for city services.
I've been watching videos of Panama and saw so many cities that are walkable to some of the things you mentioned. Why not try some other cities in Panama. Charlotte Van Horn of BEIP (Black Expats in Panama) has some great information. There are over 2,000 members.
No knock on Panama but we saw enough to know it wasn't for us. If there are only a couple of cities that we feel like we are thriving in then citizenship isn't worth the hassle for us. We think it's great for the right ppl just not us. Too many countries that we have been too that appreciate more.
Interesting. I was a member of a Live Virtual Tour Group. It was called Heygo but they closed down April 11. It was wonderful! That had Live tours all over the world, 24 hours a day! Now, all the guides and us Voyagers have come together and created a different group. "Heygoing! Voyagers and Guides from Heygo" I had already thought about a couple of places like Ecuador, New Zealand and Panama was on my list. Ecuador seems to be a beautiful place but it doesn't seem to have many African Americans there from what I saw on the Live tours, although, I could be wrong. New Zealand sparked my interest because of some UA-cam videos from African Americans who live there. It wasn't very convincing. Lol! I also, thought about Oaxaca, New Mexico. I saw this on the Live Virtual Tour. During a live virtual tour of Peru I didn't see many African Americans there either. Is there a large community of African Americans that live in Peru?
@@carollbrown7417 No, not very many in Peru but Ecuador has a growing group in Manta. If you are looking to connect w/ the community. You may want to look at the state of Bahia in Brazil and yes Oaxaca is very diverse as well. Happy hunting fellow traveler!
It’s not like you’re walking around Playa del Carmen. They just went to Picasso’s which is an expat hangout. There are lots of Panamanians in the area.
We will be exploring Panama in Feb. From afar, my thoughts on Coronado is an expensive part of the country to retire to. Not sure it would fit our budget or our desire for a more quiet living.
There are many towns here less exclusive and much less expensive than Coronado. Happy hunting. I am sure you will be able to find an affordable home if the country suits you!
Jajaja you went right to the exclusive area! 😂 Yeah there you are expected to own a car and in fact did you count how many pedestrians are around? Most likely none. But there are more places ask the locals. There are some communities in mountain areas that are more or less walking friendly with a more organized local community with fresh fruits a vegetables picked hours in the fields and stuff that you can get only on the countryside of Panama. Also try to visit Bocas del Toro, and Chiriquí! Ohhh about food ask for Quesos Chela!!! That is s must stop for locals going back and forth from the city to the countryside
Yeah we spent a few days in a nearby town and enjoyed the chill vibe...chickens running around everywhere, piles of mangoes all over the ground....its where we shot the mosquito skit.
I have a friend who is moving back to the states from there due to medical issues that just can’t be handled easily in Panama. Same thing happens here in the Marina area of Puerto Vallarta in MX (lots of Mexican nationals have vacation homes here as well) but no one checks the trunks of the cars!!

Hi! I watched your video about Playa Coronado in Panama and saw that you said it wasn’t really walkable. I was going to stay in Coronado this summer on the last leg of my Panama trip, but I really like an area that is more walkable. Do you have any suggestions on the pacific coast of Panama? Thanks! -Amy
Beautiful location but the one-way in the one way out would be a no for me. I love how people are living their best life and enjoying other humans after COVID it appears many in the US have become cold zombies
It makes sense when many of the owners of real estate there live in Panama City, and visit their homes on the weekend and the summer. They want their investment to be protected and not worry when they are not there. In Costa Rica, many beach homes that are vacant, get broken into and vandalized when they are not in use.
I’m living in Nueva Gorgona surrounded by Panamanian people, 3 minutes away from Coronado. If you like to leave your home country, no idea why you would surround yourself with - right - your own country men? I like to visit every couple of weeks a nice restaurant. Most customers are North Americans. Not my favorite places. But my girlfriend likes to visit this area. And no thank you to all this gated communities in Panama. As a young man, I got drafted into the military in Germany. Last time I lived in a “gated community “.
