Hi man, I'm from South african Thanks for the information about cartagena. Please give some contact information in Colombia, like a guide and so on Thanks
If you're raising your kids in Panama and they're not in a private school it's tantamount to child abuse. Public schools here are rated in the lowest 20% internationally by OECD, just behind Egypt. A high school grad's public education is equivalent to a 7th grade education in OECD countries. Anecdotally ..... I was at a neighbor's house while their daughter was doing her homework at the kitchen table. She had a map of Central America with a list of country names, each in a different color. She was using crayons to color in the map with the color corresponding to the list. She was in the EIGHTH EFFING GRADE! But, they're avery warm and welcoming people, blah, blah, blah
All those Central & S American countries need Spanish and aren't very 'comfortable' for us used to English ? Daily life would be a struggle dealing with the language barrier ! Perhaps the Philippines - or Belize would be a much better ''goodness of fit" for many of us ? If more of the locals spoke English it wouldn't be so bad - but they don't (!) - and - they don't want to either !!! Hispanics are more "at home" in those countries. Countries like Malaysia require English in school the past 30 years and many older locals 'want' to learn it - not so much in Panama I don't think.
I do not recommend anyone move to Panama. It is a very uncomfortable country to live in. You are going to have a house with a million problems (water leaks and gas leaks are very common in Panama). You are going to live without drinking water because the water system in Panama is very primitive and always damaged, the city runs out of water for several days. During the summer you will breathe the toxic smoke from the huge garbage dump in the middle of the city, there is always fire and that is terrible. If you buy an apartment on the beach, you will always live without drinking water and also without electricity. To that we must add the garbage in the streets, the supermarkets with a very limited variety of products.
