don't agree. Pokemon games don't need evil teams or a feeling of a danger every time. Team Star was cool and I feel sympathy for them. I don't believe SV suffered from this because they never intended to have an evil evil antagonist. We hadn't had an evil team since XY. Alola and Galar don't have an evil organization. They just have an antagonist leader character.
Hard disagree with everything except feeling sympathy for Team Star! Especially when you do have Aether Foundation and Macro Cosmos acting in evil ways - not just their leaders! 😁
Aether doesn't count? Macro Cosmos has a stranglehold on the Galar economy, do they not count? Then there's whatever the hell was going on with Kamado and Beni in PLA
@@BJGvideos Aether member and the macros cosmos are just loyal employees. They are nowhere close to actual evil teams like Rocket, Galactic and Plasma. Even Team Flare is more evil than Aether and Cosmos. For PLA, the only actual antagonist was Volo. But he was solo character with no team to lead.
@@BJGvideos considering the story of PLA, no i don't. But he did come across a bit antagonistic. Still wasn't the main/true antagonist of PLA. But to each their own.
Another thing to add to this is that Briar very well could have been the main villain of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. I mean she seemed to be obsessed with Terapagos, which would have been perfect for her being a villain.
Really thought she would have a better role in the whole thing... Also thought Heath would be involved somehow since you can kinda communicate with through time/dimensions/etc with Tera energy!
S/V definitely handled their 'villain' situation differently than the other games. As of right now, I love most of all the characters and the story arcs that take place for them. I can't be too mad at how they're handled. Team Star specifically are such a charming and loveable group of weirdos. I think it would be cool to see them or any other Paldea characters make a cameo appearance in Z-A or any future game.
I'm not mad at them or the story, like I said. I'm "mad" (that's not the word I would use) at the role they had in the overall story! I wouldn't want the game without them!
"you're going to say the AI professor was the villain" no i wouldn't because the human professor was the villain and the AI was trying to stop them. They got forcibly possessed by the professor's will. Notice how the dialogue indicator changes. The AI is no longer the one speaking. What they say is attributed to the professor. We also didn't give the professor anything because the one we talk to is from a different timeline. They even tell you this. And at the end they said they're going to go HOME. As in, home to Arven. Something the one from our world failed to do. Plus the one from our world never gave up their copy of Heath's book to get Briar's. Geeta being a villain would be amazing but if you ask the gym leaders she already is. Also it's funny that you go this whole video without mentioning the actual villain of the Star plot, Harrington and his unnamed deputy. And the administration that let rampant bullying continue for so long. I was really hoping we would get to track them down and fight them.
The professor in Kitakami implies they could be from a different timeline, they do not confirm it. They open up the possibility (which in a way explains Terapagos power a little more), but that's it. As for the AI Professor, I simply used that terminology since many people go "big final battle" = evil boss, I know it was the obsession that took over eventually. Or maybe it wasn't... I still find it strange how so many things are unexplained at this point and the overall Area Zero situation is one of them. As for the former administration, it wouldn't be relevant to mention them in this video as they would be Team Star's villains, not really the overal plot's villains 😅 Like I said, I'm fine with their story, just not with the lack of an actual "danger" throughout the game.
@@notsoAceTrainer The other things that don't add up tell us that they're from a different timeline. What they say doesn't match what the one from our timeline wrote in their journals, like how they know Arven is alone but they also haven't met the paradox dragon yet (the other parent didn't leave until after that according to the journals).
Team star is fine. The lack of any real villain is fine. The lack of urgency is 100% due to the unstructured open world format. Since there's no structure, there's no priority. You just have 20 or so unrelated objectives in different corners of the map. There's nothing blocking your path. Nothing that demands your attention first before you can progress. Nothing (or very little) that needs to be unlocked before you can progress again. Everything is equally (un)important. Which means nothing is really matters all that much. So why would there be any urgency?
I think urgency can be gameplay related but also plot related - gameplay-wise, you nailed it. Plot-wise, an actual mystery throughout the game being carried by an organization/evil team.
@@notsoAceTrainerthere is an issue of Pokemon game's story being copypaste of each other and this is why. An evil team just being evil for a linear reason and being stopped by the protagonist is such a stagnant concept that in story telling perspective, it feels too cliche and becoming too uninteresting. Yeah it works since again it is a tested and proven method, but it doesn't mean other methods shouldn't be tried. Lastly, Pokemon is a children's game, it isn't a webnovel that relies on storywriting to be interesting.
@@notsoAceTrainer In pokemon the things blocking your path are usually relevant both in terms of plot and gameplay. Purely mechanicly, they could just plunk down an invisible wall to stop your progress. But we usually get a sleeping snorlax and an NPC that tells you to go find a magic item that can wake him up, or a gym-leader that's busy fighting the evil team and doesn't have time to do the gymbattle with you until later. Giving you structure both gameplaywise storywise. S/V has none of that.
The unfounded expectation was kinda the last 25+ years of always having a major villain team by the end of the game, including in the two gens where they threw in a red herring 😅
@@tapuchris-cb9jy I've seen people theorize that, since Nemona has already gone on her journey, Raifort could be a defeated villain from that adventure.
The Paldean Pokemon League/Academy had to be a last second scrap. Everything was there! The accessibility to Area Zero, Geeta having the Indigo Disk, The Acculture books in the library, The compass logo on the E4’s gloves, and Geeta with this high social status as the “top champion” and also the chairwoman of the school. There had to be some sort of change of plans. I honestly refuse to acknowledge Team Star as an “evil team” and organization period.
They are not an evil team/organization, and that is exactly what I felt was lacking... They were a nice story that was told in a cool way but that didn't replace that feeling of "the bad guys are doing something". I really feel that all those evidences for the League might have just been red herrings by Gamefreak 😞 I feel this will be the last one about the topic!
Not every story needs a definite villain/evil team. That's not to say scarlet/violet and team star isn't flawed (it is very flawed) but I like the idea of a team that isn't really evil.
Different options, I guess! I don't mind having a non-evil team thrown into the mix, but I would've liked to then have some sort showing up like in Galar/Alola 😁
I had no issue with Team Star, I actually quite liked them, more then I did Team Yell or Team Skull. But I do miss actual Evil Teams and I hope we get them back in Gen 10.
Yeah man, I like Team Star but they felt more like a side quest than an actual antagonist team. Also, i really like the idea of getting Scarlet and Violet sequels with Geeta and some of the league/school staff as villians. Im on my Violet playthrough paying more attention to small details and im getting some subtle creepy vibes from the history teacher.
The solution was obvious. Each team star boss needed to have a paradox/ancient pokemon as his ace. Making this special pokemon an evil version of a normal pokemon. Then to eventually find out the professor was responsible for creation of these evil pokmon. Needing to stop the creation of these artifical pokemon.
That is such a great idea! And, since the lore tells us that they're not artifical ans the Professor did not create them, it could simply be because Penny had hacked the League, so she could have had access to the research about them and simply found a way to get them to her friends in order to help them!
Legends Arceus and Scarlet & Violet has excellent one person army villains but I’m definitely ready for actual evil teams to come back to the franchise. It doesn’t have to be Legends ZA soon but I would like it for Generation 10. Still love the AI professors and Volo though! 🙃
Honestly the issue isnt the lack of villains its the lack of a threat the proffesor doesn't become an issue till the end of the game its pretty much like if you took calamity ganon from botw and removed all mention of it till the player reaches hyrule castle Also off topic but sv should've been one game and you should've fought both proffesors in a 6v12
Having both games collide in the end would've been amazing! There is a bit of a messed up timeline anyway... You do have the symbols (past-like) and the metal plate (future-like) in the same area zero!
