Great video as usual.
I started with an OM5. It had trouble with the weight of my phone in a case, and the clamp didn't fit.
I moved up to the G6 Max and have been very happy. Calibrating and leveling are very fiddley, but it handles the weight with no problem, and I can put my compact super-zoom camera on it, too.
Weight and phone size when in a case seem two issues that trip up the cheaper gimbals.
Yes, the G6 Max is such a great gimbal and brilliant value for money. I have been saying the same for over 2 years now and rightly so. Congrats on your choice of gimbal!!

@@SamuelSotiega makes me realize what I need vs buying what they want us to have I do find the smooth 5s light very useful but other than that I think 🤔 it’s time to invest in one of the big boys because that scorp looks like my clients will be happy to see me flying around with that little boy

I just started a youtube channel. I ready bought DJI OM6 before I discovered your video. OM6 has good things and disadvantages. Mostly I used it for vblog. I often use a small rig for shoots

As always love your reviews. Got to sell my Smooth 5 since I need a hybrid now 😀. So might go for the Max 6 the Crane is a little to expensive right now ( just bought the DSLR) .

I own Zhuyin Smooth 5 Gimbal, but, it glitches out waaay to much if you tilt to far in any direction, I just bought the DJI OM 6, for vertical use, gonna try it out 👍🏻 Good Video !
Have you considered the Hohem M6?
At the moment I am not such a huge fan of the DJI OM6 and thinking about sending it back. The calibration doesn't work properly for my Pixel 6 and is always a little too off. :D I am currently thinking of getting a Zhiyun Crane M3... Can't wait to watch your video to the end. Haha...

Was looking to purchase either the hohem isteady mobile plus or the isteady X, which one would you recommend?
It depends on what you’re after. I would lean more on the mobile + but that is just me. Did you see my review of that particular gimbal?
@@SamuelSotiega I sure did and that is why I shortlisted the mobile + but both of these gimbals seem to be pretty close in what they offer, I use a 6.7 inch s10 lite so which would be better for my setup?
@@zeus_897 hard to say as this is all very subjective and my views or opinions might be different than yours. The X will give you portability the mobile + won’t, but the mobile + will operate with no restrictions of movement, which is something the X can’t do as you will be restricted on the tilt axis. It’s all down to you and what you value more for what you intent to use the gimbal for. I can’t really say buy this or that one because only you know the answer. But hopefully I am able to give you some perspective with yhe above that will help you…
Apart from my "bare" (not even a thin case) iPhone 13 Pro Max being exceedingly difficult to balance on the Crane M3,* the device was clearly struggling once balance had been achieved. Given that the alleged maximum payload is 1000 g, and the bare iPhone (1Gb version) weighs only 240 g, I was astounded.
My sole purpose in purchasing the Crane M3 was to have a gimbal that could easily handle the iPhone in a Sandmarc case with telephoto lens, so I returned it.
**The problem is that, when mounted in a phone clamp, it is impossible to move the phone far enough forward so that its center of gravity is not posterior to the tilt axis.
I am sorry you experienced those issues but I haven’t experienced those issues myself. I am able to move back and forth the phone and also up and down so you balance it correctly. Would you benefit you if i record a little video tomorrow and post it here as a reply so I show you how I do it?
Sorry to hear your having problems. I have the iPhone 13 Pro Max as well. I use the PolarPro case along with their VND filters..... No problem once so ever on my Crane M3.
Funny you should mention that. I purchased my M3 for the exact same thought in mind (as well as to expand later to mirrorless), and I'm having the exact same issue with balancing my Samsung NOTE20U.
Even when positioned fully forward on the arm, the horizontal axis will not balance and still flops down. I have no issues with the other axis.
If I don't find a solution soon, I will be returning mine as well. I though I was the only one since all of the reviewer use iPhones in their tests and not Android.
Wanted to write you in private, but didn't found 😅 I think I'll go with crane M2. On amazon I found a deal for 85usd, with 17usd of shipping and no import fees. For what I would use it I think it's enough. I might struggle a little bit with balancing as it requires quite some work, but I guess once you balance it, it's balanced for everytime... no need to rebalance it for every use

Very good overview - thank you. One question - when you say the Crane M3 works perfectly with "the app" on a smartphone, which app are you referring to? It actually doesn't work with Filmic Pro (yet) and it doesn't work with Zhiyun's own ZY Cami app or their much better Stacam app. It only works with the ZY Play app, and if you connect as the M3, it only gives you that remote control, NOT a filming app. It you connect as "Other" and then use Bluetooth to connect, it does work to some extent, but not even the Shutter/Record button on the gimbal works - you still have to tap the onscreen button on the smartphone. I've contacted Zhiyun (and Filmic Pro) to see if they can improve the app functionality, and also to ask Zhiyun to release the SDK for the M3 so that the guys at Filmic Pro can incorporate M3 compatibility. Any extra voices who could contact Zhiyun to release the M3 SDK would help the cause, especially influential voices such as yours, Samuel.
I give you credit for mentioning about the record button. I will raise this with Zhiyun in an email today. However, I am so used to press the phone’s record button on the screen that it is not a real issue for me. Yes, annoying, but when you consider the overall performance, I can live with it. But I agree with you, it would nice if it worked.
@@SamuelSotiega I have the Crane M3, hence my interest in whether or not it works with any apps. Great gimbal, but I really wish it worked with Filmic Pro, or even Zhiyun's own Stacam app which isn't bad. The record button working would be really good. But also, if the front wheel of the M3 could be used to do focus pulls or zooming, like the side wheel on the Smooth 5. If Zhiyun were to release the SDK (Software Development Kit) for the M3, I know that the team at Filmic Pro would jump on it! That would be perfect! Crane M3 running Filmic Pro on my iPhone 14 Pro Max...! :)
@@OriginalNightStalker i can totally agree with you, it wiuld be great that functionality for smartphones. You do get it if you link up a camera to it with the wireless adaptor, and it works really well, but it is not possible with smartphones. I will definitely raise this point with the devs today by email. Whether they do anything about it or not, thatMs a different story. But as you say, the more people raising these issues, the better.

Thanks so much for these vids. The part on which app is which though is a little confusing, if you had a text box showing what youre talking about every time would be helpful. Also, dropping the like share sub inserts so often gets annoying. You make great vids. People will notice and follow you. No need to push it so much imo.

I regret buying the Osmo 6 due to it’s limited axis’s and weight limits. Using an iPhone 14 Pro Max pushes it’s weight limits, even though they state on the website it’s compatible. I’m adding a LiteChaser Pro setup soon and know I’ve already outgrown the OM6 in 17 days. Sadly I can’t return it anymore
Can you not put it up for a sale on ebay or similar, recover most of the cost, and then buy something else? Like a zhiyun smooth 5S?

@@shashasaja I have a few videos recently about smartphone gimbals, dofferent prices ranges and specs. it is hard for me to say, it all depends on your style, what you do, accessories, etc. Watch the videos for the smooth 5S and thr Hohem M6 and then let me know what you feel about them...

For future videos, rather than referring to different gimbals as " *this gimbal* ", could you say the model name of the gimbal instead? It doesn't have to be the full model name because even a very shorthand version will suffice, anything to help match the gimbal currently on display with its name/purchase link. For example, even referring to them consistently as "gimbal 1" or "gimbal 2" will be good enough, so long as I can more easily distinguish between the models.

I hope they never sell a single unit of them because they are simply put, below standard, to be polite. You can buy the scorp mini from Feiyutech’s indiegogo page at a discount rate from the retail price when it goes on Amazon. Check link in the description, if interested. It really is a god gimbal…

Any 3rd party app that you feel comfortable with. They all have very different layouts and costs so you need to find something that works for you. Filmic pro, protake, stacam, mavis pro, etc, There are more, these are just a few...

All I can offer is that if you email me directly (email in my about page) and give me your details for the purchase, like order number, name, and date of purchase. Honestly you just made me return my OM6 that gimbal really is trash what the hell was I thinking , I’m going for the G6 Max I believe that’s what it’s called I already use a small gimbal mounted on my helmet for filming from Feiyu tech.. damn I feel ashamed of myself lol thank you for slapping some sense into me ☠️☠️

DJI OM6 is shit, but...
don't tell me zhiyun is good..
I am a service technician who repaired them and inside they are made of counterfeit stm32 chips, e.g. Geely APM32, and the way of opening is impertinent, because to get to the gimbal you have to peel off the screen.
After disconnecting the battery, it is not possible to properly calibrate PAN AXIS again
Well, all I can talk is about the operation. I have never tried nor ever will attempt to open any of them up. But thanks for sharing your views! It’s actually really interesting to read!
