It’s always fascinating to me about tony. I mean he seems like he still has a ounce of humanity left at the end with Chris but it’s tough to tell for sure.
It’s common for malignant narcissists to feign emotion to manipulate someone they feel they have total control over, and then act out violently physically, and emotionally, making themselves the most important person involved whenever that person makes them feel insulted, or unimportant, similar to how Tony treats Chris after Adriana’s death and after he goes through rehab, Carmela multiple times throughout the show, and Anthony Jr. Especially as he gets older, I think Tony becoming boss made him feel important enough to really dive in his disorder and pretty much lost the ability to develop and maintain a healthy relationship with anybody. It especially makes sense when you consider most people with it come from a Neglected childhood, where failure was met with severe punishment and taught failure is entirely unacceptable, from mostly emotionally absent parents
