Loved being here with you Jay - thanks for having me! The stigma associated with mental illness prevents many people from getting help; fewer than half of those who suffer from mental health problems ever seek help. People do not want to be seen as crazy, stupid, or defective, and they often don’t seek help until they (or their loved one) can no longer tolerate the pain (at work, in their relationships, or within themselves). Unfortunately, the stigma associated with mental illness is deep-seated and difficult to overcome. One strategy to decrease this stigma is to educate the public that mental disorders, rather than being character flaws or personal weakness, have a biological and neurological basis.
...Dr. Amen, can we sum up that mental (and biological) illness is somato-psycho rather then somato-psycho in origin? (With few exceptions i.e. when one's loved one does and one is "depressed" sad?)
My note for healthy brain Eat healthy Exercise(tennis, table tennis, dance) Take care of your brain, avoid the things that hurts it and do the things that helps it.thank very much doctor.
Just wanted to share something from Dr. Amen's last interview that has stuck with me: "Don't do it because you should, do it because you love yourself." PS. I really appreciate you writing his name in the title. =)
So great to see Dr. Amen back on the podcast. Being able to talk about mental illness and give people the knowledge and tools they need to improve their mental health is so important. Thanks Jay and Daniel
Hey Jay good job on the podcast..I have a feedback to share..when you have the focus on the guest please make sure your head doesn’t come up in the camera(It felt as though you have your head down and preparing for the next question rather than looking at the guest)..I noticed it quite a lot in this video..hope this helps:)
I'M a Retired Nurse & had a temporal brain tumor removed 7+ yrs ago...BEST MEDICINE for me WAS Taking my Dad OUT of A Retirement Home~6 months after my surg & bringing him back to Life...Helping Others is SO POWERFUL FOR THE MIND!! Wow!! Another awesome session with Dr. Daniel... Omg... So wonderful... What is self love... Its not just walking in the park or strolling on the seashore.... Its taking care of your own body... Taking care of your brain.... Wow!!!!!!!!
Your books are worth the purchase ,its like having therapy on your own with his books guidance ,aside from online church attendance and a supportive social circle of friends
Your thoughts, your mind, your brain... the most important part of your health. Something I plan to talk about a lot on my new channel. Thanks for the inspiration Jay!

How its important to have a healthy brain to lead a happy life 2. eat colorfull foods to maintain ur brain healthy 3.keep an eye on every thought that comes to ur mind n always check if the thought is healthy for u r not 4.u need not belive every thought that comes to ur brain. 5."prefrontal cortex" , a part of human brain responsible for reasoning, impuse control, creativity and problem solving. And this gets fully developed only at the age of 25 6.alcohol n other drugs damage brain 7.u should first know wat you want before considering some one as ur life partner 8.Always be patient while deciding a person as ur life partner , bcz new love always acts the same area where cocaine acts . 9. do not apply harmful chemicals on ur body 10.meditartion n excersie can improve blood flow n there by improve brain's health ....And many more....👏👏
really big fan of your work, Jay. I was thinking that it would be useful for everyone if Dr. Amen mentioned that a brain scan IS QUITE expensive and what he thought about the future of brain scans and how they could be more applicable for all. You are the new Oprah, keep shining.
Wonderful talk Jay, as always. So important to bring Dr. Amens' great BRAIN to other people, to get inspired, and start making a change to our lives by looking after and digging deeper into the knowledge on our brains. So grateful
Complete genius! Every psychiatrist should do imagining before diagnosing ( guessing). I do disagree on a few topics, such as shaming Jay about treating himself with dessert once a week. Shame is incredibly toxic to the brain and mental wellness. Both of these men are wonderful and are making huge differences in the world. Love yourself. ❤️
Thank you Sir Jay for having these conversations and listening as a result you ask questions I have as well. God's liberty healing and blessings for you and your family and for us all! Mercy Grace & Peace! AAAmen!
I LOVE listening to Dr. Amen! I am new to the podcast thing... I usually just listen to local radio... I have taken the brain quiz on Dr. Amen's site and will try to incorporate the things mentioned into my daily routine. Things I never really thought about.... Thanks to Jay's podcast for introducing me to Dr. Amen, I have now followed him on Insta, FB, and UA-cam. I loved this episode so much I listened twice!!
I just….dont….have….time for these long podcasts of golden information. Every time I see these on my rec videos I get frustrated I won’t be able to watch them the way I want to.
Jay, you are so creative and your purpose is so beautiful and pure. Thank you so much for the podcast 🙌👌Mental illness to Brain health 💯💯 Dr. Daniel - - thank you for sharing such valuable information and tips. Definitely needed them.
Psychiatrist dr amen talking about brain health and best game table tennis for brain watch full episode very helpful for everyone jay bro u are amazing 😉🤗
Question.....when he talked about spontaneous versus persistent brains. Can it change as you age? I feel like I was 1000% spontaneous until I hit 35, and then it switched to persistent. Everything has to be planned out and implemented or I feel stressed.
Wow! This was moving. You're right we always take care of our bodies but we never take care of our brains. Next time I want to see an Artist with you, it's a humble request. 😊 And Jay you're doing a great job. Whenever I'm down and out, I listen to you. The way you motivate people is pretty intriguing. I can see change in life. And finally I'm happy and content.😊
This is ground breaking. US has clinics, can we have some in new Zealand. I would 100 percent do my scan and for my brother and mother both of who are diagnosed with some brain illnesses
Hi Jay, one of the big fan of your podcast, that's why i think i needed to comment on this. You seemed distracted by the papers and not prepared for this interview. Not looking at your guest while you were making the introduction and him answering your questions seemed disrespectful.
Thank you so much for this. I've learned so much and will be coming back to this video for reference. This is incredible and now I feel like I have a guide to re-evaluate things and help myself. Wish Dr Amen can scan my brain haha. Thanks again.
Thanks for this so....interesting discussion which helps us to walk through to love ,respect & care the brain.(brain scanning for patner match seems bit spurious as few things must go natural but may be in coming times this artificialness will come up )
Jay Shetty is the best creator for self-improvement. Jay inspired me so much that I started my own UA-cam channel. My channel is also about self-improvement. I would love some support from you guys.
I agree on marijuana cause idk if that was only my imagination, but i really felt my brain was way slower to think for next couple days. And probably on long term ise it's actually dangerous.

Amazing. I wish I could get treated by him. My mind and my kids minds are such turmoil.
