Loved being here with you Jay - thanks for having me! The stigma associated with mental illness prevents many people from getting help; fewer than half of those who suffer from mental health problems ever seek help. People do not want to be seen as crazy, stupid, or defective, and they often don’t seek help until they (or their loved one) can no longer tolerate the pain (at work, in their relationships, or within themselves). Unfortunately, the stigma associated with mental illness is deep-seated and difficult to overcome. One strategy to decrease this stigma is to educate the public that mental disorders, rather than being character flaws or personal weakness, have a biological and neurological basis.

...Dr. Amen, can we sum up that mental (and biological) illness is somato-psycho rather then somato-psycho in origin? (With few exceptions i.e. when one's loved one does and one is "depressed" sad?)

Hey Jay good job on the podcast..I have a feedback to share..when you have the focus on the guest please make sure your head doesn’t come up in the camera(It felt as though you have your head down and preparing for the next question rather than looking at the guest)..I noticed it quite a lot in this video..hope this helps:)

I am now binge watching/listening to these podcast from Jay with Dr.Daniel Amen. All these podcast are greally awesome. I got to know many things like:
    1. How its important to have a healthy brain to lead a happy life
    2. eat colorfull foods to maintain ur brain healthy
3.keep an eye on every thought that comes to ur mind n always check if the thought is healthy for u r not
4.u need not belive every thought that comes to ur brain.
5."prefrontal cortex" , a part of human brain responsible for reasoning, impuse control, creativity and problem solving. And this gets fully developed only at the age of 25
6.alcohol n other drugs damage brain
7.u should first know wat you want before considering some one as ur life partner
8.Always be patient while deciding a person as ur life partner , bcz new love always acts the same area where cocaine acts .
    9. do not apply harmful chemicals on ur body
10.meditartion n excersie can improve blood flow n there by improve brain's health
    ....And many more....👏👏

Complete genius! Every psychiatrist should do imagining before diagnosing ( guessing). I do disagree on a few topics, such as shaming Jay about treating himself with dessert once a week. Shame is incredibly toxic to the brain and mental wellness. Both of these men are wonderful and are making huge differences in the world. Love yourself. ❤️
