There should be a precursor to school (or maybe a bi-annual course) that's a year long and teaches you the basics of being human and coping with human emotions in a healthy way.

@@ame-chan579 But colorblindness isn't something you develop, of course you're born with it. And just go to an eye doctor and ask them for a test. If you're diagnosed, it doesn't matter if people don't believe you.
The OP was talking about, for example, depression, hypertension, cancer, etc. Stuff your genes make a lot easier for you to develop, but your behavior is what ultimately determines if you develop them or not.

      @@isadora5826 I am diagnosed, yes.
My point was that the statement is not an axiom, an absolute statement due to the fact that a lot of conditions you have when you're born also makes your life harder and you didn't do nothing to have them.

@@ame-chan579 I understand! In the case of some diseases/disorders/abnormalities you're born with it and there's nothing you can do. But these are not acquirable. This reminds me of my grade 5 class when a speaker came in every week to teach the kids about mental health. We learned about breathing, different coping mechanisms, and even made our own "relaxation toys" which were water bottles with glitter in them. They were used to help us when we were feeling anxious, so whenever that happened we'd focus on the glitter and try to count the glitters in it. It helped!

But I would like to emphasize that end of mental illness is not just related to brain health, there's also a need to understand if there are any social, emotional personal issues and address them as well. The end of mental illness would be addressing and acknowledging these social-cultural issues, gender issues, and personal issues along with brain health.

You are so right about the mould. I lived in a mouldy apartment for months and when I tell you my depression became way stronger and more frequent (the episodes i mean) than before .. i started having very anxious responses to everything happening. I was constantly overwhelmed. And i couldn't breathe properly, always had the feeling i need to blow my nose but nothing would come out - all of those webt away when i moved out.

What helps me is going to bed at a specific time and actually trying to stay awake. So, say you go to at 10pm, make yourself physically get into bed at that time, even if you're not tired, and try and stay awake. Make a mental note of what you have to do tommorow, what went well today, pray, or just talk to yourself about something. Eventually I'll fall asleep without even realizing it. But theres a lot of different techniques. You gotta find one that works for you.

    • @annak.9483

idk if you're looking for advice, but what helped me was reading a study about how lying down in bed with your eyes closed, quiet, relaxing, even if you're not fully sleeping, is almost as healthy as sleep!! I used to be like "omg only 4 more hours of sleep time left!!!!!" and now I'm like "well at least I'm resting like this"... also, breathing exercises and guided meditations help a lot. I can also recommend the podcast "Sleep With Me", that one's helped me through some tough nights. Good luck 🍀

Hypnotherapy is like a self-healing modality, where you are completely in control and can pin point events of your past to relive and properly deal with. Also the 'bright mind' acronym talked about in the video is great to keep in mind to have all your bases covered. Believe in yourself! A huge part of it is beliving, knowing that you can help yourself and heal.

I don't know about a note pad but there are crayons & markers for the shower meant for kids that you could get. If you write it on the driest wall during your shower it should stay until you wipe it off. I figure you could copy it down or take a pic of it once you get done with your shower. I know Crayola makes a crayon bath set for sure, that will last a while, that is with a rabid 4 yr old smashing them into tile after soaking them in tub for ages to make 'rainbow goo.' Just be careful if your shower walls are porous because the red can leave a slight stain that is a pain to clean.

This was so refreshing to hear. I think a lot of doctors are so fast to prescribe drugs and not see the underlying issues. ESPECIALLY physical issues like diet, exercise, head trauma, etc… A healthy body can help so much, and I feel like there’s this trend going around of people saying that healthy diet and exercise is “fat-phobic”, which in turn causes more issues. Can cause this endless cycle of depression because of how you look, then when you try to change it you’re told it’s not good, which causes more depression, etc.
