I wish I could afford a SPECT scan… I’ve wanted one since I learned about them and dr Amen almost 20 years ago.
Dr. Amen was my son’s doctor in Fairfield, CA! He helped my child get off ADHD meds, got him through high school, college…he now has a 22 year successful marriage with 3 beautiful children. I can never thank him enough!! ❤
You thanked him by paying for his services and he probably thanked you for that.
hell yeah!!!!
What did he do? I'm taking adderall but I don't think it's healthy for me long term

I am too depressed to summon the necessary energy it would take me to express how much I enjoyed this podcast and the extent to which it resonated with me. It gave me the energy to get up from bed to brush my teeth which didn't happen in two weeks. Dr.Amen is a wizard and you're an excellent interviewer. You've asked every question that I was itching to hear the answer to. Thank you.
Clearly you had the strength…but for some reason, it took something OUTSIDE of you to take action. Perhaps your thinking is what needs to change. Joe Dispenza is another podcast you might enjoy.
It was you who made you get up. And it's been always you. Whatever happens, happens to you by you, through you; you are the creator, enjoyer and destroyer of all you perceive.
Take 15,000 iu Vit D3 daily plus K2 and magnesium .. your depression should fade dramatically .. also B vitamins .. eat liver ( contains all b vits) or nutritional yeast (1tablespoon daily)
Same depression is evil it weakens us on the daily 😢
Be well friend!!! Wishing you, peace, strength and love!
Hope you take steps to betterment

It always breaks my heart hearing how man have such grand problems to express their love to their sons. My husband never hears how proud his dad is, but when we are in his home town, we get so many information about US from the taxi driver, the waitress in the restaurant or random people talking to us on the street. He never tells my husband, but the whole town how proud he is, how good he thinks we do and how happy he is that he went his way.
OMG I could listen to Dr Amen for hours. His gentle style of explaining important topics is so soothing. Thanks for this interview, loved it and have shared it with my precious daughter. I know the information will help her improve her life and her children’s. BTW, I follow most of his advice and have had EMDR which melted away old painful memories and I now sleep like a content baby. (I am 73)✨🌵💙
Aw that's nice to hear :)
I cried watching this. As the mother of a son diagnosed with schizophrenia who committed suicide at 23, I know what Dr. Amen is absolutely true. I believe that this approach is world changing and should be used to try to cure addiction and other mental health behavior. God bless Dr. Amen.
Go to a church that casts out demons and have your son delivered!

Goodness, why something like this has to happen to anyone in this world??? I’m so sorry for you loss! As a mother I’m crying everyday for all the children that are suffering and I’m praying for every single one of them!
I'm so very sorry for your loss.
I struggle with chronic stress and depression and don't have the resources to get the help I need- I am so so absolutely grateful for these episodes as they point me in the direction of what working methods are available to me at lower costs. Thank you.
Pray to God for deliverance! You probably have a demon keeping you down. You can find how to do that here on UA-cam.
There's a wonderful book called "The Better Brain..." By Dr Julia Rucklidge PhD and Dr Bonnie Kaplan PhD they are incredible in terms of helping to fix the brain. They also have amazing videos on UA-cam and as student in the medical field I really appreciate the work they have and are doing. I mention it constantly as I don't agree with the current "treatment" system which isn't aimed at a cure just life long pill taking. Dr Julia and Dr Bonnie look at nutritional needs as the answer and the book even includes loads of affordable nutritionally dense recipes. It's a game changer and I wish the book existed a decade ago so that I would have been mentally well sooner.
Wishing you the best recovery ✨🫂👌
Eating healthy helps, but for me exercise was absolutely game changer
@@brendalee6867 Please, stop.
You can start eating healthier (Mediterranean diet is my suggestion along with gradual reduction of meals proportions always with medical consultation if you have health issues) and exercise at home (ex with apps) or outdoor with no cost…and search information and good ideas as a new hobby. U will soon find out u can do miracles with yourself on your own 😉
I need a brain scan, EMDR therapy, and to get off anti depressants. I wish there was free healthcare in the US because the thought of the costs alone seem so daunting. This has been one of the most valuable podcasts on this channel so far. Thank you.

Vitamin D is so vital, I helped someone who is biracial and has a darker skin. Over the years he looked so pale and wasn't feeling good and it got worse and worse. I knew about the problem with dark skin and beeing in a cold climate, where you cover your skin constanly, that you would have very low vitamin d levels. So I told him he started high dosis of vitamin d3 combined with magnesium, which if you have been depleted, you can't take high dosis of vitamin d3 in your body in a healty way. After 4 weeks he felt so much better, looked so much more vibrant it is so wonderful, he thanked me so much and I was just so happy to see him healthy and happy😊
I seriously thought something was always wrong with my brain. I'm almost 25 and since early teenage years I've always been moderately anxious, moderately depressed, somewhat anti-social, lethargic, brain fogged.
3 weeks ago I quit marijuana and switched from 3 large cups of coffee per day to 3 cups of green tea, and I finally feel like a normal human being with a healthy brain. I wake up refreshed and in a good mood, I no longer feel like a zombie after the work day, no more morning nausea, less mood fluctuations, and I no longer need to sedate myself to go to sleep.
Green tea gives you enough caffeine? I tried switching to green tea and I got headaches.
@@Sisterlisk you might need to switch a little slower. Let’s say you drink 3 cups of coffee per day. Maybe replace 1 of those with green tea for 2 weeks, then the second cup of coffee with green tea for the next two weeks, etc. It might take a second for your body to get used to it!
I like weed
@Rachel T. Its withdrawal. You just have to suck it up and it will pass. Just make sure you stay hydrated. Tea especially green has enough caffeine to help
You.
@Missy Curl I drink only one cup of coffee, in the morning. I tried switching to black tea on a work day, intense headache ensued later.
The interruption at 1:15:34 was hilarious! 🤣 This speaker is quite comedic in his delivery! This interview was super intriguing and insigthful. Having a brain scan is now high on my priority bucketlist. 🧠🔍👀
I laughed so hard at his dad not getting depressed he just caused depression. Just like my Dad. We were 7 children also.
These ppl are highly (passive-)aggressive maniacs. They thrive on sucking the life out of others (=cause depression).
New here-- It’s so hard to find a podcast that the interviewer truly allows their guests to speak without the “uh huh, yeah, laughing, or interrupting”. That’s why I’m now going to subscribe bc I really appreciate that. I like to get to know the actual person and it’s very hard to bc many times their cut off from what they were going to say bc the interviewer just tries too hard or can’t listen well….. you’re doing a great job and it’s definitely appreciated! I am so serious. I was watching another podcast earlier and it was so much talking and I wanted to know “what was Kelly Clarkson actually going to say at the end of that sentence” MANY TIMES! It was about her divorce. I just truly appreciate you allowing your guests to- have the floor! And you have great feedback and questions as well. Great interview!
Presenter is humble and a great interviewer. His intelligence is obvious as he knows and demonstrates the importance of having an open mind, having a teachable spirit, and being a critical thinker. These basic skills are lost on most people today
Me enjoying this with my morning coffee 😊

I really enjoy your interviewing skills! You inspire people to “go deep” and avoid useless chit chat. Loving the substance here!😊

omg - finally someone else says we are at war for our health and well being
Both my grandmothers drank coffee daily from their teenage years until their late nineties. They did not have any debilitated disease. One died of an accident in her nineties, and the other of a dog bite when she was 98 years old. My mother and father drank Ethiopian organic coffee daily from they were teenagers until they passed away in their eighties. I have their medical record, and they had no chronic disease. However, the coffee they drank was real organic Ethiopian COFFEE. As far as I know, my ancestors and family who drank coffee daily do not have any debilitating diseases, including brain disease. Drinking pure coffee on a daily basis has a lot of benefits.
I'm a nurse, not a doctor but I was taught that esteogen substitution comes with a significantly higher risk of developing cancer. Idk, maybe we women are cursed. 😢

Great video! Dr. Amen was spot on about the Insanity in the mental health industry of today. I'm very impressed he was so bold to say that. Good for him!
Totally agree. Integrity is rare!
He has no integrity. He is a snake oil salesman profiting off fear and misinformation. His SPECT scans have zero diagnostic value. May as well read palms or tea leaves.
You’re right. The man is a pioneer and a voice of reason for there’s so much going on with the rise of mental illnesses and people are given pils left and right without considering the emotional and spiritual side of things.
Accepting how our brains are wired is key to understanding the person instead of judging their “bad behaviour”, when they need help, love, support, care, and validation. ❤
I love how authentic he is as a doctor. I love how the conversation went. ❤

I have been with my neuro psychiatrist for over 10 years and I sat in awe throughout this session because it felt like I was sitting with her. (Saw a neuro psychologist for 5 years)
When Dr Amen said that we shouldn't be seen as our diagnosis, that warmed my heart because that's what my psychiatrist always tells me. She'll be like, "I know you so well Dieketseng, I'd be a best seller if I had to write about each of my patients because I know them even when they aren't sick" I can't wait to show her this.
From the moment Dr Amen spoke and till the end, it highlighted and reminded me of my mental health journey with my neuro psychiatrist, and how blessed I am to have her.
She "fixed" me - of course I had to put in my work too. I do believe if she didn't care and was a "typical" mental health professional, I wouldn't be here.
I am going to send her this episode to remind her what brilliant work she has been doing. Even on days she may think ots not enough, she can return to this episode and see that someone out there shares the same values when it comes to being a mental health professional. And I bet she will be happy to reiterate that she's been telling me to take care of my brain. The "I told you so" card is coming.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Amazing comment! How awesome your life is. I'll bet you help a lot of people.

He recommends getting our hormones checked every year. I have been fighting to have it tested ONCE and here I am 33 years old and still can't find a doc to do it because "everyone's hormone levels are different."
I had this problem also, and after eight years I found an independent woman’s hormone specialist. You have to pay out of pocket, but you’ll get answers.
The only hormone levels measured are usually vitamin D.
If everyone realized that vitamin D is actually a vital hormone, we'd all be better off.
I had to go private too and finally I'm treating my PCOS
I live in Mexico and I had the same problem…
Brenna Barkley. Find yourself a Bio-identical hormone MD. They are specifically trained for diagnosing and treating your hormones on a more natural level. I am blessed to have a bio-identical MD and she sends my script to a compound lab and they make my hormones specifically set for me. I get them tested now every 6 to 9 months, depending upon my levels at the time. Working with her, I have been able to drop over 70 lbs. I feel better than I felt at the age of 50. I am now 67. Look online and Google bio-identical doctors in your area. Many chiropractors are trained in this also, but unless they have an MD degree, they can not prescribe but can definitely direct u to someone who can.
I read his book Change Your Brain, Change Your Life about 10 years ago and it was amazing to read the stories of people with different life stories and how scanning their brains gave them so much information to work with and even in interpersonal relationships too.
Starting today/right now, I will definitely start this ritual before bed practice about going thru my day and trying to recall all the good things that happened and things that I liked....steering away from my deeply ingrained (Catholic) practices of going thru my mistakes and nonsense like that. As a holistic doctor who began in Western medicine, I didn't expect much of anything because Western doctors are incompetent when it comes to understanding health. It's refreshing to hear this guy speak about how to approach illness. He has also been attacked with malice intention by the establishment. This is par for course. He's one of us.
Incompetent? Mis informed, uneducated, brain washed by the AMA, the government, and the food cartels maybe. Let’s face it… they are running business that provides a product to sell. That product does not include solving the root of the problem only the symptoms. If you don’t want to buy what they sell then don’t shop there.
❤
Assure you tjese doctors are completely incompetent and in bad faith.
When they steal from 'bieber' who osnt the writer in the first place what is the doctors purpose here.....
“It tells you from 1-10 how quickly it’s killing you.” I laughed out loud at the bluntness. He is SO RIGHT. Thank God this awareness is becoming more mainstream. I love dr Amen. Have his books and he helped me a lot in my most depressive states. I stopped drinking coffee 2.5 months ago. I was drinking up to 5 coffees a day & one decided to stop completely. I'm shocked by how my focus has improved. I don't feel low during the afternoon. I have more energy. Even feel more confident, self-aware, intentional and present. I'm not going back to drinking coffee.
Thinking I’ll try quitting as well
Even if you wanted to still drink coffee, you know whatever but what I don’t understand was why you were drinking 5 to begin with thats way too much that’ll make you sick. I mean apparently it wasn’t making you sick in your stomach but you made it clear that it was in your head though. I only drink 1 coffee. Tbh I don’t even drink coffee everyday. But still you never should have more than 1 in a day that’s really really bad. Besides everyone’s knows coffee isn’t good for you to an extent anyway. Just like how people say 1 glass of alcohol can be healthy for you and helps with certain things but of course if we have too much we get intoxicated and get upset stomach and vomit. 1 glass can help with good health anymore than that then it’s poison to us. Coffee is literally the same thing.
A lot of people don’t realize how caffeine depletes B vitamins. That causes brain fog among other things.
I don't think it would surprise anyone that 5 coffees a day would make one sick. Doesn't say anything about whether coffee in moderate amounts is good or bad for us
@@amber.ren_1995 yes 5 coffees is like round about 600-800 mg caffeine, the recommended dosage of caffeine per day is max. 400 mg. I mean, caffeine is also a drug, and it's always better to not use any drugs. But at least don't over do them if you do them.
Steven slowly increasing our knowledge and awareness, one guest at a time 🧠🚀
…“but I am not caring more then he is caring!!“ I love that half sentence, it comes from selflove and being sure about your mission. ❤
Thank you SO much for this brilliant episode. An EMDR therapist, so pleased that he spoke about this and his brain imaging in this episode.
My aunt lived till 97 sharper than a tack. She started drinking coffee as a child cause her dad gave it to her. She drank it every day. Its been proven to prevent alz. and diabetes.I recommend organic only.
Inhabitants of the island near Greece, that have a very high life expectancy, perhaps longest in the world, have great community connection and drink a real coffee each day.
Everything has pros and cons and there are exceptions to every rule
Coffee has antioxidants which is good for anti ageing properties for skin and fights cancer but then it also dehydrates you which is bad for skin because its a diuretic.. everything has pros and cons (pretty much) it also is an appetite suppressant but it costs you in other ways
There are exceptions to every rule.. my granny was in perfect health until 96 and died at 97 -her lifestyle was a disaster -ate like a bird, was skeletal for half her life, heavy drinker, smoked until she was 90.. however she had many hobbies and an active social life all her life.. just because she bends statistics I wouldn't recommend her lifestyle.. Churchill lived to be old and his lifestyle was a disaster.. just coz some people get lucky doesn't mean you should take the gamble and model your lifestyle after them..
this conversation is amazing, so many "truths" that we all know but don't want to face or accept + so great to hear from a psychiatrist that isn't pushing pharmaceutical products.. I'm a therapist as well and this information is a Godsend ❤
Sam, think for a moment. If you met a man on the street who was telling you all the things you already knew, but don't like to say out loud, would you engage with that man like he was an expert, or shun that man like a hobo yelling at trash bins? Be honest.
Think about what that means, "so many 'truths' that we all know but don't want to face". That means he's using common information to build false reference. That's a pretty big red flag. As a therapist... you should probably be able to recognize this. Just sayin.

It would be nice if every time on the podcast say “ there have been studies showing “ to put a link of the official academic study in the description . Thank you .
The best podcast channel on UA-cam. A continuous list of outstanding experts, properly interviewed.
Be amazing to get Neuro-scientist, Andrew Huberman on this podcast.
So he can sell his suppliments and push his affiliate links.
Be unreal to have them on a podcast together
@@mind5403 how do you think people are able to make a career out of podcasting? It’s by advertisement. Huberman literally keeps the same few sponsors for years instead of pushing a new product on his audience every episode. That’s about as ethical as one could be navigating the podcast monetization space.
At least he likes coffee
Even better - getting Huberman and Dr amen interviewing each ither
One of the most insightful interviews I’ve ever seen. Thank you! ❤
I love Dr. Amen's work! It's SO cool to geek out on and it's empowering!
how to keep your brain healthy
- life-long learning
- don't eat red meat
- eat fish
- bad gum health
- no alcohol, drugs, smoking, vaping
- avoid head trauma
Bad gum health? Do we need to heal it? Does it have an impact on the brain?
What were the meds this doctor prescribed?
Thank you for typing this out.! On key. Helpful to read while hearing him speak on it. 🙏🏻
Less caffeine, less red meat
Oily fish
This interview was life changing, thank you doing doing the work!
Phenomenal interview. Can’t wait to read the book and dive into all of the different aspects discussed in this episode.
Love this episode and Dr. Amen’s work to disrupt the industry.
Healing my own cPSTD and understanding my own brain after all the traumatic experiences I’ve experienced in my childhood and got diagnosed with ADHD at 33 years old.
It all started my deep inner healing work which turned my life upside down for the better. Although, it was not fun at first.
Knowing what I know now.. I’m happy and grateful for my pain is a gift. It brought me back my joy, creativity, peace, freedom from negative emotions and it’s still a blessing to have my brain working hard to protect me all these years. 🧠❤️🎁
We need more of Dr. Amen in the world.
One of my doctors dismissed my experience and made me feel like crap when I told him about my trauma. He told me to move on. WTF! He’s so old school and judgmental. That was it for me. I had to use my brain to do my squirrel work and research the condition I am in and feel to heal the pain that manifested in chronic illness that affected everything in my life.
I'm curious how you healed your PTSD. Any treatment/therapy in particular?
That's so brave!)
How did you take those steps, I wonder.
Listening to this laying on the bench by the Zurich River in the sun kissed afternoon, smells river, thinking to myself. Its time to change my life for better 😊
Sounds like a lovely spot to enjoy your day.
Wonderful episode as always. Thank you both ❤
I recently started listening to your podcast and I love it! Thank you!!
I love the way you are pulling back the curtain to show this info to the people who cant afford private help Steven and to those who don't know and rely on the wrong kind of 'support'....Not everyone reads the 1000000's of books out there .To know this man and his work exists, will change peoples lives and give them hope peace and empowerment ..Hx
Wow what a powerful testimony of a son and his dads journey to validation, love, healthy minds giving us all encouragement with loved ones. Fantastic brain health!
I didnt have a great time with my dad growing up either , it got a bit better but not much until he was 95 and needed, but didnt want to go into a care home.
I looked after him until he died at home aged 100. It was no Hollywood ending but
I will always feel lucky for the opportunity to be closer to him , and l think I would have also had a hole inside me if it hadnt been that way
I think this is the most informative episode of this podcast ive listened to so far. Definitely bookmarking it so i can refer back to it later.
This was very comforting to me to watch. 3 years ago the accumulation of not prioritizing myself peaked in a disasterous way. Since then i have made positive changes for myself which has resulted in losing people, they don't align with the person i now love the most which is me. Listening to Dr Amen, i now have more goals to achieve and a renewed focus that im on the right path for my own mental health. Loved this video. An extremely important conversation.
My favorite episode thus far!!! I now have so much more clarity about things I can do to be happier and healthier inside and out. Thank you!!!
This was one of the best ones I’ve watched! And there’s been so many I’ve thought were amazing on this channel. As someone who’s been on antidepressants from the age of 16- 23 I’m due to start ADD meds this month and it made so many things make sense for me!
Thank you ! I would never call you a "content creator" YOU are a genuine truth seeker
I'm going through a rough period of my life & I really wish Dr. Amen had a practice in the Netherlands. I would immediately go there for help. On top of that, if someone in my family had these great skills and knowledge, I would immediately ask for their help. I truthfully wish your brother realises that. ❤
Do you happen to know Anastasia?
EFT (emotional freedom technique) is excellent and gets incredible results just like EMDR . You can do video call sessions with an EFT therapist. There are lots of UA-cam videos too (Brad Yates is fantastic) but it’s best to have some sessions with a qualified Therapist to begin with (or do an EFT seminar to learn it - I did training with Karl Dawson who is based in the UK and he is brilliant)
Love Daniel Amen. Thank you so much, Steven, for bringing such amazing people onto this podcast so we can all benefit from their wisdom xx
Excellent podcast!! Appreciate your having Dr. Daniel on - thank you for sharing this content.
Instant follow. This has been one of the best thought provoking and interesting videos I’ve ever seen. It’s so informative and something I deeply needed to find. Thank you so much. I’m so lucky to be close to one of his offices and I’m really hoping to been at his clinic.
This was great, thank you! I’ll def have to listen again for it to stick but I’m excited to incorporate some of what I’ve learned from this episode!
Another profound episode on just so many levels. Thank you.
This podcast has taught so much that I can’t even afford if I was to pay the amazing guest Steve interviews. This particular episode is a game changer. I wish I can meet Dr Amen to scan my brain. Thank you once Steven for this amazing interview. I feel so blessed I came across this podcast ❤
one of the best podcasts ever. so insightful. so many tips. Thanks for making brain health more of a conversation than mental illness
One of the best ones thank you so much for an amazing interview. I’ve learned so much and I so appreciate this one!
This is one of the most insightful conversations I've ever heard! I'm going to listen to this again and take notes! Thank you for having this conversation!
So much depth and meaning. Thank you.
Thanks for your contribution! And for changed the intro of your episodes 🙌
I am officially hooked on your podcast videos! Hello from Kansas! Thank you so much for providing such amazing people and excellent, thought provoking conversations where I learn so much! I've stopped watching TV since 2020 and have turned to UA-cam to enhance my knowledge of many new ideas and subjects that I never was interested in until recently. I keep watching and then putting others in the queue to watch next time I have 2 hours to get educated. I'm intrigued and enlightened by your podcasts! Thank you.
I love the way you do interviews, you really let your guest communicate. You make it about them. Thanks very much.
Love this discussion and your show! Thank you for having Dr. Amen on your show! He’s such a lovely sensitive man!😊🌺 I learned a lot tonight!
Just the best of the bests episodes for me!!!! You cant imagine how much I am thankful for watching this!
Awesome episode and doctor! The title on the cover about caffeine discouraged me from starting to watch it. Ended up enjoying the guest and getting insights
This was very helpful. Thanks to both of you for a great interview! ❤
This is my favorite episode so far. Thanks for sharing this interview ❤
This is incredible! Thank you for getting this man on your podcast! Highly valuable and informative! Learned so much and alot of things makes much more sense.
So many light bulb moments, throughout. I follow both your works and the dynamic didn't dissapoint! One of my favourite episodes ❤️
Thanks for this. I read one of Dr Amen’s books years ago “change your brain, change your life” so was good to see him in the flesh. Happily subscribed and glad I found this channel!
These episodes are so crucial I always watch them more than once! I love Dr Amen! ❤💯🤙🏼💪🏼
One of my top favorite channels, you are killing it with this Information and high quality preparation for these amazing guests! Please please keep them coming you’re saving lives believe it or not
I subscribed! Only recently have I been led to your channel and found that your guests have been people that I'm already familiar with and enjoy seeing them interacting with different hosts & formats. At 70 yrs old, I'm realizing how much better my time on this earth could've been had I been aware of the 'tools to overcome' a disastrous childhood. Lol....And I find your voice quite calming & lovely.
