    - I didn’t think that this would need to be said, as I hoped most folks would have enough common sense to realise for themselves. My wife and I shared the cooking, I did not force my wife to cook because I am some chauvinistic beast. We shared it because we share things. Including the food. My son did not eat any because he did not want any. As you will hear in the video, our battery was dying so we quickly closed and signed off, my wife holding the camera. Then we sat and ate. I did not eat it all myself and deny my wife food. The fact people would even think that blows my mind. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤯

    I gotta say, I'm born and raised in a land-locked state and I'm not into eating seafood of any kind but there's something so peaceful about watching these foraging videos. It's almost comforting to see humans just doing human things. Foraging and collecting, preparing food and sharing with your family, teaching valuable skills to the younger generations...this is what being a human's about.
    Edit: I wanna correct my words. I think the idea conveyed is that humans are a lot of things, which is what makes us the top of our food chain, but I feel like we've been missing these simple things that used to carry us and our generations which makes us desire them more. Living inside and only concerning yourself with material things makes you miss the freedom of the wild, but living a life where survival is the only goal makes humans yearn for more. A balance between our roots and the future would bring us peace, I think.

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  9 місяців тому +1

      I agree. These are skills passed down by generations. Sadly these are skills that you cannot learn and they do not teach in a classroom

Anyone that has anything negative to say or are making assumptions should move on and don't watch. I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I grew up and live on Long Island, New York which is surrounded by water. This reminds me so much of my younger days when I would walk down the street to the Great South Bay and go crabbing for Blue Claw Crabs, clamming, fishing, etc. You can't live on Long Island without having an affinity for the water and the sustenance it provides. I don't know how UA-cam brought me here but I'm incredibly grateful. This was so relaxing and educational.
    I live in a small seaside village in Belgium, but sadly our coastal zone is too artificial for treasures like these. My husband and I are going on our honeymoon next week to the south of England, we're driving from Dover to Eastbourne, Brighton, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight, every place we want to see in between and back. We'll keep in mind all your tips for our seaside outings ☺️ !

    As others have said, I don't know how this turned up. Sometimes UA-cam just throws something different at you. I found it quite delightful. Watching a family outing combined with learning things. I used to live on the West coast of Canada and this really made me miss it, even though the beach was quite rocky where I lived.
    Those crazy people accusing you of "making your wife cook" and not sharing the food need to re-evaluate their life LOL I figured that your wife got some, but thought maybe the lad wasn't fond of seafood. Many of us don't acquire a taste for it till we get older. PS I don't like oysters, either. Unless they are smoked. Always a couple of tins in my pantry.

    I have no idea why UA-cam recommended your video to me. But I'm glad it did. You gained a new subscriber. Purely out of curiosity and your ability to keep me engaged and wanting to see what happens next. I live on the east coast of The United States of America and can tell you from the catch, to the preparation, to the cooking, we do things incredibly different here than you do where you live. I dont say that one is right and one is wrong. Its just very different. The state I live in is Maryland. We are notorious for Fishing and The Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab. We also have oysters, clams, etc. Nothing the tube thing you caught with salt. That was crazy! We have to go "clam digging". We cook crabs whole.! One other thing that we do is make certain to either keep all of our catches in water from the time we catch them until we are ready to prepare them. If we aren't going to keep them in water, we keep them on ice. Any fresh catch that perishes before we are ready to prepare, gets tossed. We don't cook or eat it.

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  5 років тому +1

      Rachel Lynn - Hi Rachel, Thankyou for your comment and welcome to our channel. That is really interesting about the differences between over there and here. Generally anything that is found inside the tidal zone can be kept in a dry bucket. It is lighter to carry and the animals are perfectly alive breathing air for a short period so long as they are kept cool. Anything that needs to breathe water constantly ( like a fish ) is kept in water obv. 😉 The only other time we keep collected animals in water is to allow them to purge out any sand and dirt prior to eating. 😊👍🏻🎣🦀🐚
