I'm Glad that Thompson/ Center Arms is back, and I love that the CEO of the company is in the field shooting and learning to be a better shooter. You don't see that often in the gun community. I know what brand my next rifle will be. Please continue doing these videos. God Bless you and God Bless America 🇺🇲
Agree, bring back one budget, one high end or medium high end, and the dimension. Offer cerakote options, threaded barrels (lots of people want to run a brake or suppressed)
That surely was a great shooting experience. Excellent bullet selection too. 168 will hold up stable all the way out. One really good thing I noticed is that you and your classmates were not choking the gun. Position and trigger control demonstrated nicely. So, that content was really impressive and informative.
I would love to see the icon come back. They’re truly some nice rifles that are slept on. Im looking forward to seeing what’s coming down the pike with tc.
There are 4 things a modern rifle needs: 1) Reliable feeding from a detactable Magazine. 2) Modular 3 lug Bolt with Interchangable bolt heads and knobs. 3) Adjustable trigger. 4) Replaceable Scope rail. If TC brings out a bolt action it needs to bring something to the market the other companies don't. Having a modular bolt the end user can setup for a niche cartridge with a custom knob is the optimum scenario. Having an octogon bottom receiver will give a more consistant bedding area for mounting in a stock or chassis. Then design a one piece floorplate / trigger guard that locks into the bottom of the receiver so the magazines are aligned correctly for reliable feeding independent of the stock the action is in.
TC should still bring at least one regular hunting bolt rifle back too. Modern PRS type rifles might be more than somebody needs or wants in the deer woods. Western hunting / Alaska? yeah sure.
@@joshyoder4076 If its integrated into the receiver you can't choose why size scope tube you want. With a 30mm integrated mount, a 34mm optic is off the table.
I hope Thompson brings back the Hawken, Renegade and maybe one of the others (Cherokee?) traditional side-lock moderately priced muzzle loaders. We don't need another in-line but bringing back the classics would be most welcome.
An old trick prior to mounting any scope is to "zero the reticle". Place the scopes objective lens against a large mirror with a strong light behind you. Looking into the eyepiece you will see the reticle and its shadow. Simply adjust the turrets until the two images become one. This ensures the reticle is in the exact center of the tube. If using two-piece bases/rings check the two sets alignment with one another with a correct size metal bar (1-inch, 30mm, 35mm) and lap the rings if out of alignment. this will prevent damage the scope tube ruining the scope.
I have not heard that mirror old trick, it sounds good, great for a second hand scope, can you explain it better? If I point the objective at a mirror, ok shine a light thru the scope from the eyepiece, how do you look thru eyepiece then without moving the light? Im missing something there? If the light or your eye is at any angle it would throw things off, yes? I ask because I would like to understand this? Thanks Don
@@mrdinme.4768 No problem Don, Place the objective end of the scope firmly against the mirrors face. Look into the eyepiece and align the two images until one. The light, it simply is refracted laterally though the mirrors surface. The brighter rooms light the better.
@@ditzydoo4378 ok, I got it now! This sounds good, I have several scopes, that have been on one or another rifle at one time or another. A great starting point. THANK YOU very much for taking the time to explain that!
Yeah I didn’t believe this trick actually worked when I first read about it years ago but I’ll be darned once you get it set up (the room must be *well lit* however) it works like a charm to mechanically center the scope.
Good video. Glad you guys shot 10 shots to check zero. That tells you a lot more than a 3 shot group will. When the Leupold guy was talking wind holds, he should have brought up mirage, because that is wind in "real time'. With A good scope with good glass, you'll be able to see mirage. I would have been using my pack as well. That's what I use, for shots like these during hunting. Longest shot on a buck, down in the Deschutes canyons was 700 yards DRT.. Good stuff here though.
Awesome 🇺🇲 job from both American brands . Out east hunters myself we are lucky to shoot a 100 yards . My last deer i shoot was less than 30 on the ground with 06
I’m really glad you’re bringing t/c back. I wouldn’t buy one while smith had ownership. I haven’t spent a dime on a smith since the late 90’s. I will be buying at least a muzzle loader and a bolt gun when you release them. Mainly because of your passion to bring back the company to its original roots and many original people. God bless.
I have a bit to add. I love the basic approach. Initial zero should be set in a neutral environment removing exteranl forces on the projectile after it leaves the muzzel. Then teach reading your environment and compensation. Then practice and natural gift bring in your shot. Just my opinion.
Thanks for bringing back a great brand! Everyone want you guys to resurrect their pet gun. My want would be the Omega. Best inline design at the price point that they were offered!
Would like to hear more about the gun. What is the stock you have on the barrel action? I love Thompson Center and hope to see the icon and encore, along with the rest of the models back in production.
my goodness. Dave Petzal once said in a review. the T/C Warlord was the gun all others strive to be. The Warlord was just before its time. in this day and age of long range shooting it will thrive. I hunted with an Icon ultra wood for a long time. Prettiest hunting rifle imo. I still love it and man is it accurate. Sub .5 MOA rifle all day in .308. if you bring that back, please just upgrade the magazine. the mag feels cheap compared to the rest of the rifle
Keep to the basics at first, Contender pistol, Encore rifle/muzzle loader/shotgun and 1 bolt gun, then slowly branch out after the company is re-established.
Wish Leupold would take a small portion of their marketing budget and put it in quality assurance… Things lose zero sitting in safes and riding down the highway.
When do you think I will be able to buy a Encore Pro Hun 7mm Rem Mag barrel? I am looking on Gunbroker and ebay and they are there but would like to give Co business
What happened to TC? They used to have some of the best muzzleloaders, now they're just okay. Their TC contenders where fantastic and people still buy used ones like hotcakes. Their TC Hawken/Renegades were really well made "traditional" style muzzleloaders (still sought after by many). Bring back the TC we all knew and loved from the 90s. Classic example of a larger company buying them out and killing quality and innovation and only focus on profit margins. That might be a short term solution but long term doesn't work..... Look at Remington or winchester. They are just a shell of their former selves because they stopped trying to innovate. Use Ruger, Hornady, Weatherby as examples of how to run a business in this industry. CVA is only a slippery slope down as well, they still have some brand loyalty but they aren't innovating or truly listening to their customers. They'll be next down the road to failure if they dont change their ways
Dude outside of my Thompson center in at 50 yards and at 250 it's dead on cutting the same hole I guess you think you're an expert about siding a rifle In not
Im just happy to see T/C coming back!
It will not be anywhere close to the original.
You need to bring back the Warlord, was such a cool gun.
Yes, with a threaded muzzle, M-Lok forend, and 6.5 Creedmoor.
Arca rail > M lok
T/C please bring your Falling Blocks back! Ruger and Winchester doesn't do justice to the historic design!
Time to bring back the Icon and Warlord!
Total Confidence is why I've owned TC Since the 70s.. 👍
I'm having my Tc since the 70s too.Well someone I bought later

Thompson/Center Arms should bring back the Icon rifle and the Compass and the Venture
After this, I bet they will.

The Icon seri3s was seriously a great rifle. Please make great rifles and make left hand models as well.
