Definitely is a nice looking truck bud.. As far as the 3s lipo. Seems to be very similar esc to the Ae-5 axial which can take 3s... Thanks for sharing bud.. Great review.. :)

Yes 2s is 7.4v vs 8.4v nimh of course nimh will be faster. The lipo will allow more current draw and add some accel. However the weak brushed motor is not demanding more then the nimh can deliver.

I think you'll have to size the pinion up a ways before you'll see the LiPo provide a higher top speed than the NiMH in this truck on pavement if you see any different result at all. I don't think the 2s is really going to be noticeably better until you add a larger pinion and compare takeoff speeds which require high amperage versus top speeds on pavement that doesn't draw nearly as much amperage. Amperage draw creates a greater voltage drop on NiMH batteries than LiPo, so eventually the LiPo could win in a backyard bash trying to go through grass instead of over pavement. Also, from what I understand, a high capacity NiMH should have less voltage drop than a lower capacity NiMH of the same brand/line when under load. If you do find a scenario (in this truck) where the 2s does outperform the 8.4v NiMH, you might consider trying a 5000mAH 8.4v NiMH of the same brand to see if you notice the difference between 5000mAh and 2300mAh 8.4v NiMH. In an 1/8th scale MT bashing off road, I think you'd definitely see the 2s LiPo outperform the 8.4v NiMh.

NiMh batteries just don't perform like lipo.i was getting a solid 15 to 30 minutes of drive time on 2s 5000mah 50c batteries...as an FYI, if you decide to go up beyond 2s you'll need to get rid of the stock deans connectors and put on some xt60's or 90's (I used the bigger ones) or you'll bottleneck everything, even if everything else is cherry ;)

I have the 27t on my senton mega and it did 26 mph with stock NiMh battery. Worried that i would kill the esc, i removed it. Now i put the 27t on my GoolRC brushless 4300kv setup and I'm still getting 26mph! Wth, i thought i can go much faster. Must be the NiMh holding it back

@@subietech2019 yeah the nimh is at its amp max at that point and cannot deliver any more power fast enough. Stick a 2s lipo in it and it will do close to 40mph on a 27t pinion with that 4300kv motor . But keep an eye on the motor temps.

I think you work for traxxas or there something wrong with that truck. Because I can’t keep the front tires down on mine🤣

You probably have the brushless version. This was the original brushed truck. My 3s BLX ones are hard to control at full speed because they are so powerful and the tires balloon a little. Those are super impressive for $300. This one is like $220 with a NiMH battery and fully RTR.

A bit slower on 2s and I think it's a little low geared.

      Definitely feels and sounds undergeared

You are always testing uphill. Test where it’s more appropriate. All your tests I have seen so far are all slower than other people’s posts. No wonder it’s an uphill. It’s not a good comparison.

The ground is pretty flat. Not sure what hill you see. At the end it falls off to the drain, but the run area is flat.
