I remember hearing that speech at the end for the first time when i was a teenager, i can't even describe the impact of a message like that on a yuong mind, the world needs more movie like this. Now more than ever.
The speech at the end is something else. Pacino got an Oscar for this, and some people said it was a consolation prize for all the times he didn't get one, but I say the performance was oscar-worthy by itself.
I also think he earned the Oscar on the merits of this performance. But I think Al got it into his head that they gave him Best Actor for all the yelling he did in this one. He started yelling a lot more after Scent of a Woman. 😆
Truth is, Pacino, great actor that he is and was, had a giant slump in his career for a long while. This was his comeback movie. If you don't believe me, listen to the natural raspiness in his voice, as opposed to his earlier works. Michael Corlenone versus Ricky Roma in Glengarry Glen Ross, even when he's speaking calmly.
No, the ending of the Italian original is a thousand times better. In the original film, the blind man tries to keep the woman away throughout the film, but in the final scene he falls and asks for help, and she goes to help him, and there's an incredible dialogue there. The American version is the classic exaggeration, with Ferraris and other bullshit. ps: yes, this is a remake.
One of my favouite movies. I seen it in the cinema when it came out. As it went on, I wasn't sure what to make of it, but by the end, I was sold!! Still love it to this day, 32 years later!!! Yeah, I know! A very young Chris O'Donnell. and a completely unknown, and young Gabrielle Anwar. Pacino's monologue at the end was amazing, of course. (His whole performance was incredible). And there were many other touching moments in this awesome movie. However for me, the most emotional moment was when Slade reaches out and touches/sees Charlies face. He does it off his own back. All his other aides/assistants (whether he was blind or not) were faceless. He chose to see, and remember what Charlie looked like. Also, you look amazing. Dressing like this really suits you (again, just my opinion), and I'm glad you enjoyed the movie.
Blue, always looks beautiful but this is absolutely next level and so elegant! Thank you for the lovely reaction! Hope you had a fun and Happy Birthday!
After so many years, this movie is as good as gold. This movie teaches you one thing, that every once in a while people need to be given a pat in the back and told, that "your doing okay and you are loved" cause it's true. Hands down to this day my most cherished movie. Loved your reaction and the outfit.. Cheers.. 🥂
HOO-ah. I so love this movie. Everyone in it is just perfect in their roles, and it's my absolute favourite Pacino performance EVER. Such a powerful story, too.
Casual with blue hair, or elegant for a ball, you're a beauty in any generation, babe. Love your femininity & sensitivity too. Have a great birthday & stay happy.
One of your best reviews. And you look absolutely elegant in your outfit. A friend of mine insisted I watch this film, and I'm glad I stopped resisting.
This was a great reaction Trixy, I enjoyed your insights and thoughts. I also like how beautiful you look when yOu got dressed up p this film. Thank you for the great content .
This is a movie I recall seeing way back when in the 90s, and several times since. Some great actors doing great work here, and the writing is excellent. Based on the 1974 Italian film Profumo di donna, based in turn on an Italian novel. Profumo di donna was nominated for Best Foreign Film and Best Adapted Screenplay at the 48th Academy Awards. Scent of a Woman was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay at the 65th Academy Awards, with Pacino taking home the gold. And well deserved...this performance really hit me. Still does. The headmaster is played by James Rebhorn, a ubiquitous character actor who seemed to show up in everything, particularly in the 90s. I always liked to see him, whether as a good guy, a bad guy, or a neutral third party. A prime example of a great That Guy. You'll see him in movie after movie, and you'll always be like 'Hey, it's that guy!' 😆 RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman 😞
You are precious and I am glad you understood the film as deeply as you did. Excellent reaction! You are one of the good ones, as it were. Beautiful and full of heart and intelligence!
Your look is very much appreciated. Classing things up is always the way to go. Just hope we don't all get used to it or expect it more often. Be yourself, which ever form that may take.
First things first, Trixie Blue, I would like to say how stunningly elegantly beautiful you are in your dress and make-up! Your efforts did not go to waste. Next, love your reaction! In fact, the moment you described your expectations about this movie, I instantly began to smile from ear to ear. I got hooked and excited about how you would react to this Classic. I am impressed by how you remained composed and invested, knowing it's going against your assumptions. Still, you did very well. I loved your reaction because I had the same experience when I watched it 32 years ago. Especially during that time, all the trailers would highlight the tango scene! But thank goodness it also focuses on Al Pacino, with whom I am familiar. So, at least, I was also expecting some stellar performance from Pacino. This movie never gets old. A bitter, mean, blind man meets an honest young man both undergoing a crisis of their life and how their friendship saved each other. Again great job, Trixie Blue, and best wishes!
Hooah Trixy, having been a subscriber for a while now, it’s been a pleasure to see you evolve to a beautiful, well spoken young lady. Your reactions are always amazing and you look fantastic dressed up to the nines, which makes you look like a ten.👍💯🇦🇺
The outfit looks great! Very elegant. Kind of goth chic! I love it! This obviously wasn't what you remembered it as. There's probably a few movies that could be what you were describing. Made me think of Francois Truffaut's "The Man Who Loved Women". Truffaut is probably not on your radar yet. Very famous French Filmmaker, that had been a writer and film critic, and then went on to be one of the main directors that lead the French New Wave of film in the 50s and 60s. Stephen Spielberg put him in "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" as an actor in the 70s, as a tribute to him, but not used to being just an actor, apparently he got bored not having as much to do, so sitting around in his down time while shooting, he wrote "The Man Who Loved Women". Honestly, it's been so long since I've seen it, but it sounds like the kind of thing you were talking about. As much as I can remember anyways. "The 400 Blows" was Truffaut's directorial debut though, and a pretty iconic movie, might want to check it out.
Thanks dear, this is one of my very favorite movies.the tango scene and the monologue at the end are simply incredible .you did a fantastic job,as always.and if I may say so you look absolutely stunning❤❤❤
I saw this in the theater. The whole theater was leaning forward in their seats with “oh I’m just getting warmed up.” The midnight showing of return of the King was less intense
A very similar film to this and a great one too is Finding Forrester. The relationship developed out of oddness has a wholesome result as well. Uniquely stunning reaction Trixy
Trixy, you are STUNNING! I try my best to look and dress like you are every day. Whether it is for men or other women in my life or just for myself, I strive to look good all the time. I have felt this way ever since I was in high school and I changed from an athletic Tomboy to a full in Girly girl! I kind of HAD to change because my high school didn't have competitive sports for girls so I had no choice but to become the best Cheerleader they ever had. I stayed head cheerleader through all of high school and College.! He could get ME too if he wanted me! 😉😉👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠❤❤
0:52 it's not original, it's a remake of the italian "Profumo di donna" (guess what that means), year 1974, But, even being italian, I like this Hollywood version more
Nicely done. One comment: you said that university students should know better. They aren't in university. It's a high school level boarding school. College prep. Some trivia: For the inquest scene, they hired a lot of extras to be the students in the audience. My nephew answered a casting call and he's somewhere in there. If you ever see 'True Lies', Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tia Carrere dance a tango to the same song. Gabrielle Anwar (Donna) had a leading role in the TV series 'Burn Notice'.
I just watched this the first time. Wow what a movie. Also wow Trixy, you look like a million bucks :) I guess watching this a second time being older, it must be something special!
One of my all-time favorite Al Pacino performances....... the man is an acting genius..... and....... I agree with the other commenters that you're transformation here is stunning Blue.... mature , beautiful, and classy
I am so glad you watched this, it's one of my favorite movies and, may I say, you look stunning in this reaction video. In fact you kinda look like Donna from the Tango scene, but prettier... okay, enough of that. I'm just really happy to see someone give this film the attention it deserves so, thank you for picking this. It was fun to watch it with you, sort of.
There are some services, like the Marines where you have to be able to field-strip a sidearm and put it back together while blindfolded under a certain amount of time. So Slade is just proving to himself that he's still the man he was before he lost his sight.
Lookin fancy! The professor was fantastic as the dad in, The Talented Mr Ripley! Also the snitch was in talented mr ripley and Almost famous and Magnolia!😮😮😮 RIP to Phillip Seymour Hoffman!
My goodness, Ms. Trixy, you're dressed so elegantly, you look like a million bucks, even though I think you're worth a hundred times that! 🙂 It was great watching this with you! Happy Easter!
Loved your take on this. Odd that you liked the Colonel from the start, most don't, I didn't . . . but the fact that you did made your take all the more fascinating. I also loved your take on One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which was the first time I saw you. If you read this stuff, a suggestion for you . . . The Sting. It was also made in the 1970s, but takes place in the 30s during the Great Depression. Arguably, the best con movie ever. It may open a whole new genre for you, Blue. Be well.
@UC9RqYdVGPEMW51kjCnf6aPQ I'd love to too, sounds fun. Pick a topic, ask me anything. Btw, I just watched you watch A Few Good Men. Don't know if you realized it but Colonel Jessup, the bad guy, was the same actor you loved, the hero, in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, albeit 20 years later. Be well, Blue
Thank you Trixy Blue for dressing up for this reaction video. Men & Women complement each other , isn't that great? I am much younger than the Colonel, but had a short military career , to include a war. So this movie meant alot to me around the time it came out. Looking super cute by the way.

Dang, Trixy. I noticed in your thumbnail that you looked especially great for this video. Very elegant and classy. The effort was definitely worth it.
Your outfit really made this movie classy in a beautiful way thanks for the reaction Blue.
Trixy's face during the Tango scene was a picture. She just lit up and you could tell she was loving it.
That's the power of Tango. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

One of the positive films about positive masculinity, about how a man can improve himself regardless of challenges and mistanke in his life.
Masculinity is always positive. And this is an amazing movie about masculinity and coming of age, you're right.

You look stunning. Effort is more than appreciated. Great reaction as well.

The Tango is Por una Cabeza a most recognizable with Volver by the mitical Gardel.

Time well spent, Blue, you look stunning!✌️❤️
To quote Billy Crystal (in Fernando Lamas accent) "Dahling, may I say you look absolutely fabulous!!"
Fernando said marvelous
Your hair like that is awesome!
It's a classic, and what a spectacular film, I saw it years ago and it is still moving.
During the dance, the song the band plays is "Por Una Cabeza" - by a head - that's how much the horse lost the race by - by a head.
