- On Thursday, June 27th, 2024, at an airfield in Örebro, Sweden, a Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut driven by factory test driver, Markus Lundh, completed several new world records for a fully homologated production vehicle.
In one acceleration, from stand still, up to 412.72 km/h and back down again, the Jesko Absolut managed to take the following production car records:
0-400-0 km/h in 27.83 seconds. That's 0.98 seconds faster than the 28.81sec record for the same run set in 2023 by the Koenigsegg Regera at the same airfield. The Jesko Absolut's minimal downforce design (Cd of just 0.278) helped the car achieve the 0-400 km/h sprint section of the run in a mere 18.82 seconds (vs. 20.68s for Regera).
0-250-0 mph in 28.27 seconds. That´s 1.33 seconds faster than the Regera's 2023 record. The 0-250 mph sprint was achieved in 19.20 seconds.
The Jesko Absolut was driven in standard, as-delivered form except for a roll cage fitted for driver protection, plus a One:1 seat favoured by the driver. It was running on E85 fuel and shod with Michelin Cup2 R tires. Times were recorded and verified using industry-standard timing equipment from Racelogic with verification of the data by Racelogic Ltd HQ.

Exactly! 3 days ago ( it's available on UA-cam) a recent interview was posted by a Spanish UA-camr with CvK where he was asked when he will be doing TOP SPEED RUN...he replied "everything is according to our expectations...just waiting for the confirmation from the TYRE MANUFACTURERS" ( Means tyres somehow are the weak points and yet waiting for their testing )

In 1989, I had a Ford Tempo as my first car. It took 18 seconds to do 0-60. This car is almost at 250mph in that time 🤯

@@eamh2002 Oh I know, you should see Konigseggs recent WR runs with no apparent Aero. Just saying this one needs a bit more downforce in the back to break the track record. You can see that tail end all over the place because of the weight distribution.
I'd bet another 2.5ft of wing would do it, extenders on the existing even, but wider tires wouldn't.
The fact that the jesko absolut is RWD, non-hybrid and without any active aero and still beats everything, makes this even more impressive
Because it weighs 1420 kg.
Awd, hybrid system and active aero are great, but people forget the importance of weight.
1- RWD is better for acceleration after 200-250 km/h than AWD.
2- It only weighs 1.4 tons. The advantage of not having hybrid & AWD.
3-The whole cars body designed to lower the drag (which slows the car both when accelerating and top speed) so thats pretty normal.
Now imagine it with an active aero which will help the braking. I don't think hydraulics will be an issue but you will have to get front and rear active aero working together underbraking and top speed

@@davidherene6365Bugatti is also one of the oldest continuous car companies in the world with backing of Volkswagen which owns a stake in majority of the car brands in Europe now lol Christian is one guy who started the company like 30 years ago. 300 mph is an amazing top speed but if Koenigsegg eventually goes to do the top speed record it should be able to do it in roughly half the time as the video represents.
@@davidherene6365 May I remind you that it was a pre-production prototype with modifications that are not part of the production model (lightweight and lowered seats, different ride height, roll-cage). And since it was a single uni-directional run, it can't be officialized. Plus, the production model is electronically limited to 440 km/h (273,4 mph).
With Koenigsegg, what you see is what you get. The Agera RS still holds the title of faster production car officially (447,19 km/h or 277,87 mph).

The noise from the engine fooled me into not even noticing it get to 400kph, unreal. The way it pulled up to 400 is insane, I firmly believe 500 is not far away and I hope Koenigsegg get there first.

That's because they know they're going to lose to an EV or hybrid soon.
It's the exact same as ICE guys that cry about 0-60. It used to be a go-to metric, now that their precious muscle car is 1-2 seconds slower than a regular dual motor Model 3, they cannot use it.

Many youtubers have said that there is no confirmed speed record for Jesco, but now koenigsegg has given an answer. 0-400 in 18.82 is absolutely amazing acceleration. This record can break the records of many currently confirmed hypercars. Nice to see koenigsegg break their own record too!!

Well that what made it faster actually not having a wing helped in having less drag but it also is a disadvantage in breaking . Jesko still breaker in 9s which is impressive. Not having active aero definitely was an advantage rather than a disadvantage.

@@farve23 The 278 mph Agera Vegas road was good enough for a lot more speed - So could be there.
Note the 0-412 above only took 1500-1600 meters and the breaking took just 500m more.
Add a parachute for the top speed run to help out (not illegal iirc) breaking faster and they could get to 300mph in less than 4000 meters.
@@barath4545 While not illegal, it would definitely mess with the aero. Not to mention that it would negate any room for error which doesn’t sound too swell when you’re plowing across a desert road at half the speed of sound.

It got straight to the point with a beautifully choreographed video of the record, and right when I started to think, "well, I want to see the raw uncut footage", they show the raw uncut footage. Then the second half of the video has Christian geeking out about the details. Couldn't ask for more, as always Koenigsegg does it right.

The only thing missing from the video is the BMW M5 E39 filming the Koenigsegg
You could hear how smooth the transmission was. One of the heaviest setbacks in a race between a petrol and electric vehicle is the interruptions the transmission causes but the Jeso's was only a faint whisper, a soft blip. It came came in as quickly as it left, such a beautiful thing. It's like the engine never had any interruptions at all.

The engineering and "out-of-the-box" thinking at Koenigsegg is inspiring. They are not limited by what others have done. Their new transmission is revolutionary - and must have other manufacturers tossing in their sleep.
@@whateverittakes5580 That's why I love the 9 speed LST unit in the Jesko. Yeah, Dual Clutches can be predictable in track driving (heck, it's the reason why Porsche's PDK is my favorite among the dual clutch transmissions), but the 9 speed unit in the Jesko looks to be in another dimension by itself. Man, the way it even operates is pretty telepathic.
The multi clutch gearbox is really "thinking outside the box". Brilliant. If it wasnt for electric cars, every car maker would have used that gearbox.
Mr. Koenigsegg has said before. It never shifts into any gear. All the gears are already engaged. It's only clutching and de-clutching.

400-0: 8.13s (0.88 faster)
250-0: 8.25s (0.82 faster)
As stated in the video, the gap in braking has to do with the regera being able to deploy an air brake with bled speed quickly. But damn watching the two videos side by side I would say the Jesko Absolut had at least a 10 kph advantage on reaching 400 kph.

Well think of this - Jesko engine + 1 Dark matter motor on the rear drive + 1 quark motor on the crank. 2735 HP total. Just need cooling and a battery that can handle that. Even without the quark it's still 2400 HP in a Regera body with 2 motors and inverters less. Think of this, Koenigsegg already has all they need for the Regera successor to be the most powerful production car ever. They just didn't release it yet.

Quarter mile at 173 mph (278 kmph)! Half mile at 220 mph (354 kmph)! 250 mph smashed in under 1350m! Standing mile 255 mph (412 kmph) even though he has left off the throttle at this point! Best launch by a non electric Koenigsegg!

This particular Jesko looks like its doing 400KPH standing still. One of the most beautiful looking supercar/hypercar designs I've seen. Koenigsegg really is in a league of its own in many ways, not just outrighf speed of their cars but from a design and engineering perspective. They design and engineer more of the parts in-house than anyone else and their designs are very clever and practical solutions that clearly work very well. Kudos fo everything they've achieved and will continue to achieve.
