@@chabweezy9905 yeah, that being said, you strap 2 jet engines to anything, it will be fast. The McLaren F1 was so fast, because it was light and aerodynamic. I tried telling people 5k hp is not streetable in any way years ago when it showed up. Between heat, it's thirsty engine, the fact it would only be able to carry enough fuel to drive conservatively maybe 90 miles. This wasn't hard to figure out. 😂
That is why methanol is the most common fuel for engines like what Steve Morris builds. Some people run alcohol, e85, and some race gas, but methanol cools the best and allows smaller radiators for street driving on pump gas where they only make a few psi of boost. A hypercar is certainly not the same as a purpose built drag and drive car. A 5000 hp drag and drive car is purely about function to go fast and then drive to the next track and while they can look nice, they are not wrapped up to look like the devil sixteen with no hardware showing.....more like a semitruck where you can see what actually gets the work done at that level. It isn't easy to hide all that stuff.
Dam for a Car Community a lot of people hating on a company that was pushing boundaries. Car had a physical design and an engine that made the acclaimed hp/tq, even minus the transmission this car could have came to market legit if the same Car Culture, Car enthusiasts & whatever they claim themselves to be weren’t bashing it every step of the way. Shitting on the car for doing the same things the car manufacturers we still like continue to do.
To be fair to the Vector, the early test cars weren’t ready & were released early with stipulations to deal with that. McEnroe, the famous tennis player, took one of them to show off to his friends & Vector warned him about not pushing it too hard before they could complete final assembly. What’d he do? Completely destroyed it, doing everything they told him not to, & prompting him to pull out of the deal very publicly, which severely impacted Vector’s reputation. It might have had its share of problems anyways, but due to them wanting to get them in the public eye early, they caused their own downfall. Still a badass car that managed to do ~220 which was crazy for the time.
One of the coolest looking Fiero V6 rare kit cars was the Scorpion. I almost bought a nearly completed one about 10 years ago. Man, did that thing look good! And if you turbo'd the stock v6, it would move out pretty good too.
The logistics of a 5000 hp street car would be pretty amusing if they did build one. Imagine finding a straight & empty enough road & doing your 300 mph pull, then you immediately run out of gas & are due for a $100k tire change, if you can get it stopped in one piece
you see i prefer to say it took the bugatti over 20 years to beat the mclaren f1. shows the legendarity better than the 7 years it took them to build the veyron. the f1 is an absolute monster. nothing like it. no idea how it did all that with such low hp(for 240mph), with 3 FUCKING SEATS. and 90s tech.
And F1 also dubbed the "most reliable" supercar Bcs someone drove it 190+ on the autobahn (i believe it's a doctor) fron his house to the workplace, every day and didn't even break down, just a slight trouble that flashes the check engine light😅
I wish this car was real, it doesn't even need to go the insane 350 mph target It just needed to go fast and look good doing it and it would've been good in my book
Never even heard of that. They definitely should make it for real, because then it wouldn't just be a competition between Koenigsegg and Bugatti, there'd be a third member of the hyper car party. The body looks like a cross between a Batmobile and a LeMans racer. It just looks absurdly fast. 2:39 that's a proper funny way of describing the obsession with top speed 😅😆 Thing is though, most high performance cars lose a shit load of power from exhaust heat. The Veyron for example, had something like 4000HP, but loses 3000 because of the exhaust, ridiculous... Wonderful video again fella. Surprised Devel didn't name the car Billet - A throwback to the iconic film, and due to those engine parts being manufactured mostly from those processes.
If I remember correctly the v16 that they built was two ls motors that were fused together the engine itself would have been promising but at the end of the day the car and engine were both vaporware
I used to follow the Devel 16 story for a bit, from my limited knowledge this video right here is the most in depth video on the Devel 16, my only criticisim is that the cars interior wasn't mentioned (it's literally just a C8 Corvette interior)
It's always a great refleif to see a video from this guy, seem to always learn something new. I always rembering being obsessed with this car as a kid and I'm glad it's still being tought about
This car always looked to me like a SL-C. They added some body work, but overall SL-C. Now it makes more sense. An SL-C with a C8 drivetrain makes it fairly easy to build.
My neighbor has the white W8 vector. Been 220mph in it. Lost a hot water coolant line at 180mph, couldn’t touch the brakes bc of the boiling water pumping at your feet 😂 Badass whip.
The McLaren F1 held the top speed record for well over a decade, not just seven years as you mistakenly claimed. The F1’s record of 221 mph was set in 1993 and wasn’t broken by a different production car until 2005 when the Bugatti Veyron pushed the record up to 253 mph.
@@NinjaRunningWild 221 mph was the speed it set when it originally took the production car top speed record from the Jaguar XJ220 (217 mph) in 1993. Over the next several years the McLaren F1 broke its own record several times, first pushing the record up to 231 mph, then later up to 241 - 243 mph. So it held the production car top speed record for 12 years, from 1993 to 2005. And it still holds the record to this day for fastest naturally aspirated production car. Incredible feat of engineering!
The car may not have been, but Steve Morse actually built the fully functional V16 engine for this thing. And it did indeed push 5,000 horsepower under boost. What a legend.
The whole marketing was based on the hype of being the first car to easily go over 300 mph but they and a lot of other car companies went hush hush when Bugatti and Koenigsegg actually took one of their production cars and went over 300 mph.
That engine is amazing. But yeah, that's it. They can't build anything else, and no one will make them parts, especially a transmission, withstanding those forces. Great video!

I had the pleasure of running into Steve Morris at the Meijer In Norton Shores MI. At the time, I had no clue who he was. I just heard and then saw the wagon, which is out of control. I ended up in his video by accident.
I hate it when stuff like this happens like the Vectors, i love the look of the body style but it is a shame that only like 12 were made, and their performance didn't quite live up to the hype. However creating something with such extreme performance is very difficult, so of course there will be failures and flops.
Atleast vectors are real right? But the poor management and insufficient money stops them all to build the supercar And the other reason why they stopped is because they were new manufacturer and W8 is 2X the price of countach, while people are preferred that piece of italian box dubbed "legend of 80s"
You forget one thing that the Devel Sixteen lacks if we are to compare it to the Bugatti Chiron or the newest Tourbillon. The V16/W16 with quad turbos needs tons of cooling. The car has like 10 radiators and the cooling system has 1 main and 2 aux radiators and the pump is pumping 800 litres of water every min. So much cooing just for 1600 bhp. But the sleek body of the Devel dont look like it has enough cooling to cool the 5000 bhp engine. Also Bugatti just unveiled the new Chiron replacement and it has a new V16 producing close to 1000bhp with 3 electric motors and its even faster than the outgoing Chiron. Madness!!!

If I had the money I would’ve invested 100%. Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Ferrari, Hennessy etc. All had to start somewhere.
Same people who say they love cars hated on this creation.
I tried telling people 5k hp is not streetable in any way years ago when it showed up. Between heat, it's thirsty engine, the fact it would only be able to carry enough fuel to drive conservatively maybe 90 miles. This wasn't hard to figure out. 😂
Remember, common sense isn't common
The drag n drive guys will tell you why you're wrong
An engine that produces that much power also produces a lot of heat. Keeping it cool would be a massive engineering challenge all by itself.
The difference between vector and devel is that vector actually sold a few cars unlike devel
Remember when the steering wheel looked like a toy??
11:37 i think the rear view mirrors are identical, the shape of the glass seems similar, dang it is just a C8 based kit car
One of the coolest looking Fiero V6 rare kit cars was the Scorpion. I almost bought a nearly completed one about 10 years ago. Man, did that thing look good! And if you turbo'd the stock v6, it would move out pretty good too.
Next video should be on W Motors Lykan Hypersport 😅

*Babe, wake up! A new 337 Speed video dropped.*
Haha yez!
The logistics of a 5000 hp street car would be pretty amusing if they did build one. Imagine finding a straight & empty enough road & doing your 300 mph pull, then you immediately run out of gas & are due for a $100k tire change, if you can get it stopped in one piece
Love your channel! Always has amazing content ❤thank you for what you do 💪
The torque on that engine is unbelievable
video on time for the Bugatti Tourbillon
The video of the engine on the dyno is still a thing to behold tho
you see i prefer to say it took the bugatti over 20 years to beat the mclaren f1. shows the legendarity better than the 7 years it took them to build the veyron. the f1 is an absolute monster. nothing like it. no idea how it did all that with such low hp(for 240mph), with 3 FUCKING SEATS. and 90s tech.
And F1 also dubbed the "most reliable" supercar
Bcs someone drove it 190+ on the autobahn (i believe it's a doctor) fron his house to the workplace, every day and didn't even break down, just a slight trouble that flashes the check engine light😅
@@yoslauda4714 which is even more insane considering the powerplant is a BMW engine hahahaha
@@yoslauda4714 He basically had a bullet train that he owned
I wish this car was real, it doesn't even need to go the insane 350 mph target
It just needed to go fast and look good doing it and it would've been good in my book
I’ll honest the top speed and acceleration war is over. Has been for years. I’d say the last 4 years.
Never even heard of that. They definitely should make it for real, because then it wouldn't just be a competition between Koenigsegg and Bugatti, there'd be a third member of the hyper car party. The body looks like a cross between a Batmobile and a LeMans racer. It just looks absurdly fast.
2:39 that's a proper funny way of describing the obsession with top speed 😅😆
Thing is though, most high performance cars lose a shit load of power from exhaust heat. The Veyron for example, had something like 4000HP, but loses 3000 because of the exhaust, ridiculous...
Wonderful video again fella. Surprised Devel didn't name the car Billet - A throwback to the iconic film, and due to those engine parts being manufactured mostly from those processes.
dam never been 46 seconds early
You're such a fantastic narrator. Great voice, perfect pacing, and a good script. Getting better with every video too.
And it was basically 2 LS’s put together by the GOAT STEVE MORRIS💀 my 13 year old self had no idea.
The car looks like if Ferrari Pagani and Lamborghini all had a baby
If I remember correctly the v16 that they built was two ls motors that were fused together the engine itself would have been promising but at the end of the day the car and engine were both vaporware
I used to follow the Devel 16 story for a bit, from my limited knowledge this video right here is the most in depth video on the Devel 16, my only criticisim is that the cars interior wasn't mentioned (it's literally just a C8 Corvette interior)
😊Facts, Facts backed up with experience that no one can take away from you 337. Represent ✌🏾
2:17 Why is everybody always forgetting about the Dauer 962 Le Mans?
It's all made up pipe dreams. No car that has that poor quality and engineering is gonna beat the likes of Bugatti and McLaren.
The quality of these videos are unmatched!!
This kind of crap happens when marketing decides without asking engineers about it.
What is the point of driving a car at that speed?
If you have a death wish, then I guess it’s a good purchase.
It's always a great refleif to see a video from this guy, seem to always learn something new. I always rembering being obsessed with this car as a kid and I'm glad it's still being tought about
Great video and incredible editing.
It wasn't the Vector W8 which should have 1200hp and being capable of doing ~400km/h. It was the Vector AWX-3.
Had no clue the Legend Steve Morris had hands in the power plant for this project!
A new 337 video came up… today is a good day!
Bro the production of this vid is amazing, keep it up!
"Believe nothing that you hear and half of what you see"
Thats a nice quote
God damn dude, I just love your videos so much. Thanks for posting.
Thank SM for allowing this to have any traction of lore.
I remember reading that vector had like 600 horses in the late eighties, which was a lot up to the mid-90s.
I been watching and subbed for a lil min now. Just gotta say this easily some of the best car content on the platform.
I’ve had a madmore stressful day, souped I found this to calm my lard ass down thank you my dude always killin it with info
This car always looked to me like a SL-C. They added some body work, but overall SL-C. Now it makes more sense. An SL-C with a C8 drivetrain makes it fairly easy to build.
My neighbor has the white W8 vector. Been 220mph in it. Lost a hot water coolant line at 180mph, couldn’t touch the brakes bc of the boiling water pumping at your feet 😂
Badass whip.
The McLaren F1 held the top speed record for well over a decade, not just seven years as you mistakenly claimed. The F1’s record of 221 mph was set in 1993 and wasn’t broken by a different production car until 2005 when the Bugatti Veyron pushed the record up to 253 mph.
241*
Man, props for making this understandable for the less knowledgeable car guys. I've learned a lot from your videos. 👏
Your videos always make my day! Thanks so much for all the hard work!
That engine has to make it into something special someday. It’s epic.
Exceptional information as always. Keep up the great work.
The whole marketing was based on the hype of being the first car to easily go over 300 mph but they and a lot of other car companies went hush hush when Bugatti and Koenigsegg actually took one of their production cars and went over 300 mph.
There's plenty of pro mods making 3000+ ft lbs running a 2 and 3 speed trans, you don't need a top fuel style trans for something like this.
That engine is amazing. But yeah, that's it. They can't build anything else, and no one will make them parts, especially a transmission, withstanding those forces.
Great video!
Hats off to you, sir.
I really enjoy watching your videos. They're informative, entertaining, well edited and your commentary ties everything together. It shows you have a passion and a knack for video essay/documentaries.
Amazing content. So we'll put together.
Thank you.
I had the pleasure of running into Steve Morris at the Meijer In Norton Shores MI. At the time, I had no clue who he was. I just heard and then saw the wagon, which is out of control. I ended up in his video by accident.
i never knew steve morris was tied into this, no wonder the rumors of this thing never died if the engine was real
I was wondering the same question, when they introduced the new Bugatti.
I hate it when stuff like this happens
like the Vectors, i love the look of the body style but it is a shame that only like 12 were made, and their performance didn't quite live up to the hype.
However creating something with such extreme performance is very difficult, so of course there will be failures and flops.
Atleast vectors are real right? But the poor management and insufficient money stops them all to build the supercar
And the other reason why they stopped is because they were new manufacturer and W8 is 2X the price of countach, while people are preferred that piece of italian box dubbed "legend of 80s"
Anytime 337 drop its like Wayne with a lighter flick on the beginning of a song.
that explains why it sounds like a crossplane v8
Madness!!!
Man....all they need is tht friggin transmission and a better chassis...
