I agree that the WWE bumped up safety because they kind of had to. WWE wrestlers tend to work a lot more dates than people do in other promotions do and that's hard on the body no matter what. Throw in anabolic steroids, booze and other drugs and you have recipe for disaster. An issue that doesn't get discussed a lot is how much a negative influence all those 1990s AJPW classics had on the way wrestlers worked. I decided to rewatch the entire calendar year of WWE in 2006 and...boy its January and idk if I can. My point is WWE has been bad for a very long time, with moments of excellence sprinkled in, its just bad differently now. Back then there was a charming sincerity to its trashness, now it's too polished and clean so it doesn't work anymore.
Wrestling is always going to be seen as low-brow entertainment so I don't know the WWE is working so hard to convince everyone that it's all sanitized and corporate. I _like_ pro wrestling because it's kind of low brow and more than a little bit silly. It's the same reason I love superhero comics.
For real lol the Ruthless Aggression era is old enough to be seen through rose tinted glasses now. There was some really good stuff but my god there was a lot of trash.
@@orionthomas967 That's the thing about wrestling: you watch a bunch of trash that's boring and/insults your intelligence to get to the good stuff because the good stuff is so very good. Absolutely love your videos, they always make my Sundays better! And for me one of the biggest improvements was WWE actually acknowledging another company recently by bringing in Mickie James and acknowledging impact and that she's their champion
There's genuinely a lot of good in modern day WWE, that's why it sucks so much when they make moves behind the scenes to only make things worse in the long run.

With the negative news that has been coming from Wwe it’s easy to forget that they have done things right even if it feels like one outweighs the other but that’s difficult to do sometimes.
While I LOVE the two-night WrestleManias, let’s not forget that they can only exist because WWE killed the NXT TakeOver WrestleMania event. I’d rather have the two nights of Mania than give NXT 2.0 a PPV the night before a 5-hour Mania, but I’m not sure I’d be so excited to trade NXT TakeOver New Orleans for a split WM34 card (for example).
@Bryan Hoyte Ah, that’s a fair point. Forgot about that… feels like forever ago. Haha At the same time, given how limited attendance was for that event, WWE still never did 3 nights of PPV-like events between NXT and Mania. The first two-night Mania absorbed TakeOver Tampa’s timeslot for the first night, and the second one was also split in the small venue. Not that they couldn’t have worked it out (would’ve been tricky given WWE’s TV schedule, mixed with the HOF), but I guess we’ll never know. It certainly feels like a trade.
just wanna point out that Adam, one of Brock's more staunch defenders in the IWC, is standing against Brock winning against Roman and his win over Big E... just making a note of it
NGL, some of the points are a bit dodgy, but fair is fair: WWE did improve in some areas with time. Do not let the fact that they started this year with ANOTHER round of multiple firings distract you

As much fun as it is to bash them if we’re comparing WWE to itself they have come leaps and bounds in the last 10 years especially the women’s division let’s just be honest and as much crap as we give triple H about his behavior and attitude when he was a talent what he did with the women’s division at NXT was revolutionary for that entire company and brought them into the modern times where women are concerned. I also have to say I do appreciate the fact that they take the health of their wrestlers a lot more seriously than they did five or even 10 years ago I know that works against them in certain situations like with Bryan where he wanted to do more than they would allow but I truly believe it is for the best long-term for our favorites sometimes to be protected from themselves so I appreciate their updated wellness policies.
I agree about Triple H but let´s be honest the Women´s division is not something to be proud of they are still years behind what they should and could be, at least under Vince, NXT was so legit and now... sigh
Others have said it already here, but wwe has done some great things in with all the dumb stuff. There are many times we can complain about wwe and the things that we as fans disagree with but wwe has improved in many ways and for that, we do have to give them credit.
Brock Lesnar beating Big E at Day One is what happens when fans rally behind the legend during their new babyface run. You told WWE "Yes we love this Lesnar, we want more" and then pretended to be shocked when they put the belt on him.
Women's division is pretty much night and day with its past comparisons 10 years or more in the past. While all these things are true and much needed improvements to the product, some of it feels like it was forced and they wouldn't have bothered if they had their own way. The women's division is light years ahead of where it was as little as 10 years ago, and is so enjoyable to watch now (pies to the face excluded) but it was due to TNA/Impact making huge statements with their knockouts that forced wwe's hand. And while there is improvement the new policy of young attractive women ahead of actual talent and experience is a step backwards that has been overlooked here in order to show the company in a positive light.
Agreed. Most of these are things they were forced to do, or things that should have been done in the first place. You don't congratulate someone for not killing people, you assume they wouldn't even have the thought.
100% everything here is just a cold corporate move. I get that bottom line it is a company and money's king, you can argue that's fine but to give them credit for forced change rather then social conscious seems a bit damning with faint praise
I'm just glad that we've finally reached the age where pandering to people like me is more profitable for corporations than telling me I should be miserable and die.
@@catisreckless4647 This is the dumbest critique I've ever heard lol So being "forced" to change doesn't make the change valid? EVERY time there's a change in wwe, it was forced. The Attitude Era, what many say was the best time for WWE, was a FORCED change because wcw and ecw were taking all the headlines for themselves, and wwe would not have survived if they didn't adapt. Give them credit where it's due.
Do you know what's sad about what the Undertaker said about the locker room? Go to the Rogan's video where he says that and the comment section is FILLED with people agreeing with Taker, obviously people stuck in the past era who don't watch wrestling these days anymore and think that everything was better back in the day, including wrestlers carrying guns, taking drugs and fighting a lot backstage...
To see how much better everything is for the wrestlers all you have to do is compare how 40 year old guys looked back in the 1980s to 40 year old guys now. The wrestlers are just healthier looking and can preform at a top level for years longer than they used to.
All you need is for someone, in this case The Undertaker, to say "... when men were men" and it will serve as an INSTANT summoning of the 'alpha male', red pill swallowing, patriarchy loving frat boys to the comment section. Not surprised in the least...
WWE has plenty of problems, but it has improved a lot since its inception. Here's hoping it keeps improving before Triple H comes back like Patrick Star with his shopping and yells "WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!"
I knew it LOL. Undertakers comments really got to you guys, like really bad. First, if you know now is better, why do you care what some old guy thinks? And second, someday you'll be that old guy exactly because you think now is better and younger people will come a long and tell you your way wasn't as good as how they do it. This always happens, one generation looking down on another, thinking their way is the best way. And don't say it won't happen, it always does, what's seen as good today is wrong tomorrow.
Kinda weird that they bring it up all the time lmao. And you're absolutely right. Let Taker reminisce on the old days ffs, we don't need to be reminded every Sunday that "video games > guns" lol
We're not concerned with what he said. We just enjoy laughing about how wrong he is. We also enjoy laughing at how wrong his fans are. But hey, if you want to die young from drugs and brain damage, feel free to do so as soon as possible.
Taker just meant guys back then were Men's men. They looked like wrestlers and were tough. When people looked at them, they knew they had they had to be a tough guy of some sort, cause they looked like a biker, foot ball player, arm wrestler, bouncer, weight lifter or bar room fighter. The average wrestler these days looks like an average fan. If they told someone they were a wrestler, they'd so "Oh. Okay". The guys back then had more of an outstanding, commanding presence. Would you'd rather have a guy who looks like Animal and Hawk protecting you or guy like Kofi or the Bucks?
Most of the criticism towards WWE today is toward their creative output and decison-making. When it comes to the health and safety of their talent and progression with the times (no matter how late they were to do so), they've been exceptional.
I know I'm in the minority, but I'm really not into two-night Wrestlemania. I'm a fairly casual fan, but it was always fun to get together with a group of mates (who are also casual fans) to watch Mania, but convincing a bunch of casuals to give up two consecutive nights to watch a product they aren't that passionate about? It's a tough sell. And Mania has always been a key event for drawing back lapsed fans so it would be a shame to lose that element. I think the two-night thing only really benefits the live crowd and the online content creators who need a bit of a breather.
Also a very hardcore wrestling fan. Love the 2 night Manias. Just gives everyhing so much more room to breathe. I like it becsuse it allows all the stories to develop more and there less if a chance that i forget a match was even on the card.
I don’t think I’m the only one who thinks this way, but my frustration with WWE is in how much I love it and how far it has fallen in terms of what it could be. This list kinda shows how much of a force for good the WWE could be if it weren’t so bloody cynical about its fans, its wrestlers and the entire business side of this industry.
I know that some stereotypes are offensive but sometimes the most stereotypical characters are the best like Cryme Tyme who were typical black gangsters who were hustling to make it through tough times and make a load of money while chasing Tag team gold (which they never got) and although these types of characters can be offensive its fine if the performers themselves are okay with it other examples are sheamus (irish brawler/celtic warrior) Hirnswoggle (a leprechaun/Finleys little bastard) Samoa Joe (a cutthroat Samoan bad ass) Sgt Slaughter and of course Hulk Hogan (captain America) I know that u can't just build a wrestling promotion around Mexicans with tequila and ponchos fighting english people with a crown and good old cuppa but some if these characters can be the most entertaining parts of the show and when you think of legends of wrestling they usually have a distinct character and if you can blend that character with real life stereotypes it makes them more believable and therefore entertaining IMO
Not trying to play favorites or anything but when Steiner joined MEM in TNA and made a Crack about wrestlers playing video games I feel like this wasn't nearly as reviled as when Taker made a comment on it.
Just a quick reminder, the term "better than" doesn't necessarily mean it is "good" or "great", in this case means, not as bad as once it was, but still far from reaching the "good" label threshold, at least there's less chair shots to the head I guess.
There you go Adam. As much as we mock WWE for very good reasons sometimes looking on the bright side is necessary to avoid becoming unable to see anything in a positive light.
1 i would include booker T, sheldon benjamin and bobby lashley as african american champions during the ruthless agression era, it wasnt just the rock, also giving someone a tittle just because of their skin color is just as bad as vince obsession with having a blonde caricature being "the guy", give me someone with charisma and ring skills,i couldnt care less about how they look, we didnt like the rock because of his skin color, we liked him because of his attitude and selling on the ring, mick foley and stone cold were iconic despite not being pretty boys, people remember booker T time in wwe because of his cocky king booker character and he was great at it. 2 i guess women wrestling is better but i still dont care for it, i find it mostly boring, i couldnt care less about the mudfights or the lesbian\bikinis momments of the past, just like i couldnt care less about the so called "progressive" modern wrestling, its so squeaky clean it evokes no emotion, i still find more entertaining watching lita and trish during the atittute era than modern female wrestling stuff. Does that mean that female wrestling sucks? no. is just that i dont like female wrestling in wwe, japan has done it better. 3 jeez, undertaker really hurt some feeling and rustle some feathers on the internet, eh? the guy said he still liked some stuff of the modern product, he just find the modern product soft, and i have to agree with him, i dont want the wrestlers to get adictive to drugs or carrying knives but the downhill in quality and intensity since vince wanted to go full PG cannot be negated, just because its new it doesnt mean i have to liked or that i am some boomer stuck in the past, the attitude era was far from perfect, but it was fun to watch, modern wwe biggest sin is that it just boring, for some reason all the male wrestler feel the same, there is barely any characters anymore, the internet ruined some of the mistyque wrestling still had and wwe lack of competition made vince complacent over time, they are stuck in their own fictional bubble. Go ahead and flame all you want for not being "PC" in the way modern wwe marketing wants, or not liking the new thing, or not disagreeing entirely with an old legend of the business in his divisive opinion, i am just being honest here. there is more nuance in this topic than adam is letting on, its not "either you agree with me or you are wrong!!!"
I’d like the WWE to push Caesaro. They built him up last year only to smash him down. They need to build him up again. Have wins over Drew, Sheamus, and whoever else they can. Have him squash job guys. Make him look like a Swiss Superman. Then have him wrestle each Uso and win. Then have him beat RR.
They're not called Pay Per Views anymore because unless you have DirecTV we don't pay to view it anymore really, it's a streaming service that we pay to view, but that's for everything, the event is a free addition so premium live event makes more sense than pay per view
I agree with all but one, 7. Arguably the reason why wrestling has become a niche interest. You're never going to get the same level of investment from the average person by selling something as predetermined choreography and written stories as you will with people actually thinking Freddy Blassie was eating people and The Shiek was setting people on fire. The attitude Era made it work because it substituted legitimacy for bring cool, but WWE writers aren't in touch enough to keep that up. Yes, they do things like fix booking based on our response sometimes, but then we didn't need to tell them to tell you who we liked because they typically correlated anyway because we thought it was real.
I can think of at least 30 ways it's changed for the worst. I've barely watched it now for 2 years and every time I give it another try they pretty quickly remind me why I stopped.
3] The Woman's revolution happened. Then died. Now we have a tournament (Adams favourite thing ever) in which none of the matches could even be used as a piss break, because they weren't long enough.
I would argue that WWE is reversing course on their women’s division. Look at their average TV match length, which coincidentally happened once Bruce Pritchard and John Laurinaitis became more in power. They’re super short now and meaningless, like they were in the early 2010s
A lot of these things are just looking at them on paper without seeing context. Women's matches are kind of pointless if all of an entire tournament added up lasted less time than one match of the men's tournament.
Yep. Lauranitis and Pritchard (and Dunn) (and Vince) don't care about women's wrestling at all. God forbid they create compelling characters (that happen to be women) and interesting stories (about said women) to fill up any of the hours upon boring hours of their TV show.
Also, I can put believe Lauranitis still has a job. Years ago he let the Undertaker go out and work with a bloody Bob Orton when he knew damn well Orton had hepatitis. Exposing your workers to an almost incurable and potential fatal disease isn't what I'd want out of my "head of talent relations", but Vince seems to think that's perfectly all right.
100% agree definitely noticeable with the womens Queen tournament, complete lack of investment and waste of time that didn’t fall on the performers, at least they get a decent amount of time on marquee “Premium Live Events” for their important matches which is still better than what they got before
I don't know about Nr. 3... the queens crown tournament, the battle royal at WM... they aren't really given any major storylines recently and well - poor bianca Belair. Crying at WM because she won the title, then curbstomped by becky and now seemingly forgotten.

Now you have a joke of a tag division, 2 joke colored title toys, and even jokes out of 1st time events such as the queens of the ring tourney they did.
I wish I could agree but in the course of a few months they've really messed up the nxt women's division
No womens wrestling is trash
@@Mujoman101 oh someone is sad and pathetic
I couldn't agree with Adam more that it CAN'T be Lesnar to beat Reigns. It just can't.
All the camera cuts kinda take me out of suspension of disbelief. Reminds me I'm watching sports entertainment
When everything in pro wrestling clicks it's absolutely amazing in a way that's hard for any other kind of entertainment to beat.
@@bdo333 the godawful camera in the Royal Rumble, my god what a piece of sht

Absolutely love your videos, they always make my Sundays better! And for me one of the biggest improvements was WWE actually acknowledging another company recently by bringing in Mickie James and acknowledging impact and that she's their champion
That us nice but I think it may also point to another problem: they don't have enough women on the roster to fill a Royal Rumble.
Kinda hoping that Triple H gives Vince a pedigree for ruining his masterpiece

There's genuinely a lot of good in modern day WWE, that's why it sucks so much when they make moves behind the scenes to only make things worse in the long run.
Jinder Mahal getting a WWE title run kind of make the "Wellness Policy" look like a joke. You expect us to believe _that_ guy isn't on anabolic steroids? He started growing breasts for crying out loud!
Yeah but shh keep that on the DL, kayfabe indian champion make big money!
They test who they want when they want. Like everything vince does is self serving, shady, and without accountability
@@standardofexcellence That's absolutely true, but I do without them trumpeting the policy in general and Mahal pretending he looks like he does because of diet and workout. We all know you're on steroids, dude. You don't show up out of nowhere totally jacked with incredible vascularity, sporting acne all over your chest and back, and having suddenly developed gynecomastia without being on steroids. It's like they're all insulting our intelligence.
Then again WWE's boring product also insults everyone's intelligence so I shouldn't be surprised.
i do also appreciate the lack of blading you see on wwe tbh. no real issue with AEW doing it every once in a while (for christ sake i hope they're testing folks for hepatitis before executing at the very least), but i'm fine with not seeing any blade jobs as bad as guerrero in 2004 or michaels in 2008 for the rest of my life
WWE never doing it just kills the product for me.
@@trevonburtch4014 why
With the negative news that has been coming from Wwe it’s easy to forget that they have done things right even if it feels like one outweighs the other but that’s difficult to do sometimes.
While I LOVE the two-night WrestleManias, let’s not forget that they can only exist because WWE killed the NXT TakeOver WrestleMania event. I’d rather have the two nights of Mania than give NXT 2.0 a PPV the night before a 5-hour Mania, but I’m not sure I’d be so excited to trade NXT TakeOver New Orleans for a split WM34 card (for example).
Once Vince heard the "better than Mania" chants at NXT shows, you knew the Takeovers were on the chopping block.
@Bryan Hoyte Ah, that’s a fair point. Forgot about that… feels like forever ago. Haha
At the same time, given how limited attendance was for that event, WWE still never did 3 nights of PPV-like events between NXT and Mania.
Don’t think that you can get away with that Danhausen pause screen, Adam.
just wanna point out that Adam, one of Brock's more staunch defenders in the IWC, is standing against Brock winning against Roman and his win over Big E...
just making a note of it
Big E’s reign was bad and didn’t draw. He needed to lose the belt
It's that brock doesn't need that to elevate him you'd be much better off giving it to a young talent who's going to be the future of the company
Wow, I never made the connection with the whole New Day losing at Day 1...
NGL, some of the points are a bit dodgy, but fair is fair: WWE did improve in some areas with time. Do not let the fact that they started this year with ANOTHER round of multiple firings distract you
Yeah it's hard to see the good when they are firing people left and right, when they fix things that aren't broken, when they go back to old habits even if for a Little bit
Honestly never forget is a good policy cause otherwise they get comfortable
Imo
Yeah firing people like a publicly traded company does from time to time

The Good: WWE has some of the world's best wrestlers.
The Bad: WWE HATES Wrestling.
Brock Lesnar beating Big E at Day One is what happens when fans rally behind the legend during their new babyface run.

@@KoolKeithProductions Sorry you're too stupid to grasp something pretty simple. Now go bother someone else, child.
Do you know what's sad about what the Undertaker said about the locker room? Go to the Rogan's video where he says that and the comment section is FILLED with people agreeing with Taker, obviously people stuck in the past era who don't watch wrestling these days anymore and think that everything was better back in the day, including wrestlers carrying guns, taking drugs and fighting a lot backstage...
the first mistake you made was reading Joe Rogans comment section
True but lmao that’s bc it’s the joe rogan comment section
To see how much better everything is for the wrestlers all you have to do is compare how 40 year old guys looked back in the 1980s to 40 year old guys now. The wrestlers are just healthier looking and can preform at a top level for years longer than they used to.
All you need is for someone, in this case The Undertaker, to say "... when men were men" and it will serve as an INSTANT summoning of the 'alpha male', red pill swallowing, patriarchy loving frat boys to the comment section. Not surprised in the least...
@@Nintendofan4000 you had me until the red pill and patriarchy comments.

I love all of partsfunknown but I opened this video praying it was a blampied video 🙌🏽
@0:28 in and I've already lost it. class Adam!
Great List!!
It was nice to have some positivity.
When it comes to the health and safety of their talent and progression with the times (no matter how late they were to do so), they've been exceptional.
writing this must have been hard. good job :D
now when does the other video drop?
This is an interesting video to revisit today.
Im a hardcore fan. Watch wrestling religiously through many different companies. I also hate the 2 night WrestleManias :/
Also a very hardcore wrestling fan. Love the 2 night Manias. Just gives everyhing so much more room to breathe. I like it becsuse it allows all the stories to develop more and there less if a chance that i forget a match was even on the card.
@@austinsmith7731 That's fair. You and I have different perspective and I respect your opinion.
Ah yes, the weezer of wrestling companies
Great list 👍
I know that some stereotypes are offensive but sometimes the most stereotypical characters are the best like Cryme Tyme who were typical black gangsters who were hustling to make it through tough times and make a load of money while chasing Tag team gold (which they never got) and although these types of characters can be offensive its fine if the performers themselves are okay with it other examples are sheamus (irish brawler/celtic warrior) Hirnswoggle (a leprechaun/Finleys little bastard) Samoa Joe (a cutthroat Samoan bad ass) Sgt Slaughter and of course Hulk Hogan (captain America)
I know that u can't just build a wrestling promotion around Mexicans with tequila and ponchos fighting english people with a crown and good old cuppa but some if these characters can be the most entertaining parts of the show and when you think of legends of wrestling they usually have a distinct character and if you can blend that character with real life stereotypes it makes them more believable and therefore entertaining IMO
3:36 that's just brilliant.
I would watch a video that was just 10 mins of Adam listing WWE stereotypes
There you go Adam. As much as we mock WWE for very good reasons sometimes looking on the bright side is necessary to avoid becoming unable to see anything in a positive light.

I cant even imagine what WWE would've been without NXT

Could not agree more about 2 night Wrestlemanias. Sooo much better.
Hardly disagree with the 2 days Mania. Just make Mania shorter there are always matches on the card nobody needs to see.
Don’t forget Tozawa being a ninja for the stereotypes
A lot of these feel somewhat "god the bar IS that low, huh" but at the same time, god the bar IS that low, huh
Point 10 - clean finishes but no one is over vs everyone's over and no clean finishes... I know which I choose.
"Makes supporting it sincerely tricky"
Sums it all up huh?
Shout-out to the editor, the Bobby Heenan to Adam's Mr. Perfect.

Can't argue with a lot there in fairness
Hearing the opposite of this for another video would be hilarious. Make it happen Adam
They made it, it's called 10 ways WWE hates its fans.
They're not called Pay Per Views anymore because unless you have DirecTV we don't pay to view it anymore really, it's a streaming service that we pay to view, but that's for everything, the event is a free addition so premium live event makes more sense than pay per view
Why Adam didn’t go for the easier and more obvious joke “Improve your subscription feed by subscribing to PartsFunKnown”, I will never know
I agree with all but one, 7.
The most impressive thing about this list is that you actually found 10 improvements.

3] The Woman's revolution happened. Then died. Now we have a tournament (Adams favourite thing ever) in which none of the matches could even be used as a piss break, because they weren't long enough.
A _positive_ WWE video? HERESY!
Because Bruce Pritchard has never done anything good when he is in charge of creative. It's as true for 1995 WWF as it was for post-Russo TNA.
