Little known fact: Luke Owen enjoyed mid-'00s TNA Wrestling.
Does he? He should mention that in one of these videos.
On his gravestone will read : Luke Owen: Liked TNA from the mid 2000s
I'll believe that when I hear him say it.

"THIS ONE HAD CUPBOARDS IN THE MATCH!" Is possibly the greatest line is TLC history.
Oh that broke me so hard 😂
Agreed that was amazing.
My stomach hurts I’ve been laughing for an hour straight. I go into these with a try not to laugh mindset and fail every single time
Between this and his comment of “you know when I have a great dinner and I don’t fancy a sweet dessert, I go into Bri Mode” Sully just has unmatched comedic timing
The way that Pete laughed killed me
I love how some of these episodes can best be summed up as "Luke teaches Sullivan about TNA and its wrestlebollocks."
Imagine if Luke showing Sully old TNA nonsense becomes a new series; would be a treat
@@diabeticman2194That would be so funny! Luke laughing his ass off, Sully losing his mind asking “WHY?! WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS?! IT’S SO STUPID!”
I'd be totally into a show that is just Luke explaining the insanity of mid-2000s TNA gimmick matches to Sullivan
@@Veggieman87 I can see Sully now. 'Wait, so those ninjas just kidnapped Samoa Joe?'
Sullivan's reaction to the Monster's Ball match is correct. Lol
"NO LUKE! LUKE NO!" 😂
Best is obviously Judy Bagwell on a Forklift Match
Hey, that was best match on that card :P
@@SESauvie Jesus wept
Tables,Lists and Chairs and SULLIVAN!
And ladders
And STAIRS
In pairs
And lairs
And, stares
This video was very fun, the accidential running gag of luke having tna weird stuff on it and having to explain it to sullivan was great
I love every time Sullivan is on something Wrestletalk related, because I always end up laughing harder at him than I have to anything else that week. :)
Fantastic vid guys, and yea - the reaction to the Monster's Ball match was incredible.
He is the embodiment of infectious laughter
It's not going to be here, but one of my favourite stipulations atm is the Iron Survivor Challenge; only 4 matches with that stipulation and they're all bangers! Up the NXT!
Edit: never mind, Luke had it and that's why he's the best
yeah it’s like a Championship Scramble King of the Mountain it’s absolutely 🔥🔥
Did you know that Luke actually really likes TNA from the mid 2000s?
@@DD_Vandal oh really?? I had no idea
Thats why math > pipebomb
Sullivan just becoming unglued at "Monsters Ball," match is gold.
the casino gauntlet match is creeping its way into being one of my favorite match types, and we’ve only had two
hoping it always includes Osprey everytime & he wins as he’s been the best thing & won both so far
Yeah, Luke was saying that if they filmed this vid after the match a couple weeks ago it probably would have been added.
Those matches have quickly become one of my favorite stips!!!
Sullivan would probably love World War Three. Three rings!
Coming from someone who was at the first one live... it SUCKED. You had no clue what to follow in the ring. A good portion of the audience, myself included, didn't even see Hogan get pulled UNDER the ropes so we thought we had missed the elimination and he was just a sore loser like in 92. That entire PPV was a tragedy to watch live. If people don't remember, this was during Hogan's tease of a darker character wearing all black and there was a promo segment where he was supposed to remove the black and go back to yellow and red.... problem was no one could hear a word he said because the audio wasn't going out to the crowd so we didn't cheer and it was just crickets.
Watching Royal Rumble matches on UA-cam was what got me interested in watching wrestling a few years back.
I absolutely love this trio for tlc, they always have the funniest chats with each pick. 💜
I think my first iron man match was Angle/Lesnar, so I have a very positive association with them. I really love the psychology of using submissions in iron man matches. The choice between struggling to try to break the submission, but risk being injured throughout the rest of the match, versus immediately tapping, giving up a fall, but preserving yourself can create great storytelling.
One of my favorite shows of all time was Lucha Underground and they had so many awesome match stips. Most of them were riffs on classics but had so much flair. Grave Consequences is a casket match where the opponent actually "dies," Hell of War was 3 stages of hell on steroids, and Aztec Warfare is my favorite ever riff on the Royal Rumble.
Also it had the funniest stipulation of all time: The Believers Backlash. A lumberjack match where the crowd was the lumberjacks with weapons, and everyone hated Hernandez so much that the whole crowd just kind of beat the hell out of him 😂
Yes! I was shocked at the lack of Lucha Underground stipulations. Grave Consequences is the best coffin match stipulation and had the absolute best coffin matches. Believer's Backlash was insanely entertaining and I loved old school lumber jack matches. Controversial but here's my take: Aztec Warfare>Royal Rumble
Luke not having Raven's Rules is the biggest shocker of any of these list shows
Or Ravens Clockwork Orange House of Fun from EARLY TNA
Yes I kept waiting for that! Even if it was a fake joke as #1 before saying the Rumble
@@wbcwinnipegbeltcollectorwas expecting that as his number 1 tbh 😂 it ticks all of his boxes. Early 2000's TNA and Raven
@MegaBroski12 explaining that to Sullivan might have broke the whole episode
"See Sullivan there is a Panel of cage on one side and chains are hung with weapons"
I was surprised he didn't have Lethal Lockdown in there.
Maaaan was number 8 hilarious. Sully was dying hearing the description of peak TNA
EDIT: okay seeing as it kept going, I propose a series where Luke takes people through the various gimmick matches TNA invented throughout the years. Or just Sully, that would do wonders 😂
EDIT: Again…Sully is the best. THIS ONE HAS CUPBOARDS IN THE MATCH. I’m so dead 🤣
One of my favorite things about TLC is how it's invention felt so organic. Having the three teams, each with their specialty object, going head to head in a match meant to show off all of their strengths was such a good and cool idea (even if it is just essentially a ladder match with more weapons) and then it translated so well into a match others could do and put their own spins on it.
If the Royal Rumble isn’t 1 on Pete and Sullivan’s list then this whole video is rigged.
Luke is obviously picking king of the mountain 😂
Nah steel asylum all the way 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Reverse Battle Royal. So much easier to create a famous iron man run. "Dude, Consequences Creed spent a whole 3.8475 minutes outside the ring!"
The show-long bit from Luke was incredible.
Love that they got Luke on the show for 10 Best TNA Match Stipulations! ❤
Videos like this are great bc so much about wrestling has been discussed already, so refreshing hearing some topics that are off the beaten path
9:43 I can name every monster's ball match that had took place in tna in reverse chronological order. They are that good. I remember each and every one of them.
I want to see Sullivan watch an Ultimate X compilation video now.
Edit: no King of The Mountain????? I thought Luke was a TNA fan. I have doubts now.
Now we just need a series just of Sullivan watching TNA for the first time with Luke
9:43 monster's ball matches are great. They should see trey miguel vs crazzy steve, bram vs abyss, matt hardy vs abyss or the most recent one pco vs kon to see how good monster's ball matches are. It's one of my favourite stipulation too.
My list, for those who might care.
10. Hell in a Cell
9. No DQ (and any other way to call it)
8. Barbed wire (of any kind)
7. Submission
6. Last Man Standing
5. Royal Rumble
4. Monsters Ball (I too am a 2000s TNA nerd)
3. Lethal Lockdown (see previous entry)
2. War Games (thanks to my talk with Paul Ellering)
1. TLC (TLC 2 got me into wrestling)
Also, I think instead of I Quit it should be submit or surrender
No royal rumble match?
@@seanblake7554yeah, just made it to the end of the video. Didn’t really think of it as a stipulation match. Going to edit
Solid list
Pete's quote about the Rumble and how it's a time capsule is so true. When I watch them back that's exactly how I feel.
Intriguing Concept, and Equally Fun Results!
My all-time favorite Iron Survivor moment was 2022 with Grayson Waller entering, immediately hitting his finish on both Axiom and JD McDonaugh and pinning them both, racing into the lead.
That match might be my favourite Iron Survivor match tbh, so many great moments
Cant forget the bron breaker one bro. He CLEANED HOUSE! (That was an iron survivor wasnt it?
@@arthurwallis2788 that sure was; three spears and three eliminations in 20 seconds (or something like that) in last year's iteration
Texas Death has quickly rocketed up my list of things that make me excited for a feud. Casino gauntlet match has the potential to be a top 5 for me because we're 2 for 2 of being so much fun to watch.
Im almost surprised Luke didn't put King of the Mountain on his list...
I suggested this back on the best finishers video, so I'm taking credit whether you saw my comment or not! Great video as always and fingers crossed for a worst match stipulations video to come!
The look of disbelief on Pete's face after Luke called him an e-drone was hilarious. A laugh out loud moment on my lunch break. People looked at me like I was crazy.
"Reverse Inferno Match" had me rolling. :D
Triple H winning the 3 stages of hell made sense in the storyline especially 2-0 as it brought up Austin's self doubt that would lead him to siding with the Devil himself at Mania and the "I need to beat you Rock" interview.
Sullivan losing it about the Monster's Ball match put a smile on my face
8:20 WrestleTalk with the F bombs this week 😍
I did this myself as a thought exercise and wound up putting 2-out-of-3 falls in third place. maybe that paints me as boring, but I have a thing for stipulations that add more of a real sports feel instead of plunder and gimmicks, and while I also love iron man matches, I think 2-out-of-3 falls strikes a great balance between those and a regular match.
plus, I mean. okada-omega IV. that's a pretty big point in their favor.
2:09
You really do learn new things every day 😂
Luke Owen DOES NOT look close to 40 Years Old!! 🤯
now i just want a video where luke describes a seemingly random/weird stipulation, and the other guys need to guess whether this actually was a tna match or not (bonus points if they can come up with the correct name)
a lil honorable to the AR fox vs. KIllshot under the "three stages of hell" type match, coz goddamn that might be my fave one from that archtype
That match was insane. A legit five star classic.
these TLC videos are legit the best. You guys look like youre having so much fun! These always get me laughing right along with you. Cant wait for the worst stips video
Agreed, I always look forward to them and have a great time!
Hardcore match is just a falls count anywhere match which is different than no DQ/ Extreme Rules/ Street Fight/ No Holds Barred etc matches where the win has to happen in the ring.
I would love to see Sullivan's reaction as Luke explains the King of the Mountain Match.
Before watching, I hope Aztec warfare gets some love in this episode
Dog Collar Match between Piper and Valentine was insane.
Monster’s Ball is so dope, I bought the Bound for Glory DVD
TNA has some of the full matches on their UA-cam channel
Yeah I love those Monster's ball matches too. My gateway to hardcore wrestling.
Sullivan is literally the best I love him ❤️keep that man as a permanent fixture on here bc his wit is A+
The Piper/Valentine Dog Collar match is an all-time classic and still so watchable today.
Before watching: I’m gonna be so annoyed if they don’t have Royal Rumble for the top answer
Me too
Luke Owen: "a reverse inferno match"
....
....
AEW somewhere in Canada: "write that down!"
9:55 Sullivan, this is the guy who said Steiner Maths was the best promo of all time. Don't try to reason with him
More Sullivan please! Just seeing him make Pete break is so much fun!
So much fun watching this, couldn't stop 😂. Thanks
My fantasy match stip: 6-way elimination ladder match, where you have 5 contracts hanging above the ring, and the last one without the contract loses their job. I actually think this was already done, but I want it again with real stakes.
I expect the worst stipulations soon, although certain match stipulation need some fine tuning. Take Hair vs Hair for example, they have a match then a chase to cut the losers hair who almost cuts the winners hair. What they should do is treat it like an ambulance match where they have to lock the person in the chair similar to the chair in the WM Holly v Victoria match.
It's a good day when a new TLC video is out
This might be a hot take, but the firefly fun house match was a top 10 match stipulation. I know it's arguably not a "wrestling match", but it was probably the most unique and insanely well choreographed match of all. It was one of the best ways to take advantage of the no audience pandemic era wrestling.
I thought Luke was joking when he was saying they were locked in cupboards without food or water. Then I just watched a review of the first Monster's ball match and that was literally the gimmick. Good thing they scrapped that concept of the gimmick for later iterations. I saw one at a TNA house show in 2006. There was a Monster's Ball match between Rhino and Abyss. I was sitting front row next to 2 guys. One was an avid TNA guy and the other hadn't even heard of TNA. I'm pretty sure he was asked "you wanna go see TNA" and thought his friend was taking him to a strip club. Anyhow the entire match is pretty much this one guy trying to explain a Monsters Ball match to the other. "It looks just like a Hardcore match. Are they going to be dancing at the ball?" Then cue midway through the match both men are on the floor not even 3 feet from us both looking under the ring in the same spot for some reason and we can audibly hear them talking to each other "ok, so you grab that cane and I'm gonna grab the table, don't forget to hit me soon as we stand up" and cue the non-TNA guy next to me "HEY GUYS, DON'T FORGET TO LOOK FOR YOUR DRESSES FOR THE BALL. YOU'LL BE SO PRETTY" and you can see Abyss and Rhino trying not to laugh.
Is Luke a big fan of TNA in the mid 2000s?
I believe so, that's his bread and butter after not watching wwe during that time period.
Surprised he didn’t have Lethal Lockdown.
I am not really sure. He kinda dances around the topic all the time. He just needs to start being honest with himself.🤣
There's just no way to tell, really.
I don't know, we should ask him.
All the TLCs should be these 3. This is the best trio for this series. Not even halfway and I'm in tears laughing
Might sound weird, I bloody love a Tornado Tag match. I don’t think we see them as much as we should.
Luke's love for a certain era of Wrestling and Sullys need to grill him on it is fantastic viewing haha
I love how Pete had Ladder Match, MitB AND TLC in his list. This man does love himself some ladders
Every party needs a pooper and thats why sullivan was brought onto the episode where Luke talked alot about his love of mid 2000s TNA related things. 😂
Toni Storm (c) vs Mina Shirakawa for the custody of Mariah May >>>>>
Yay!!!! Love this series. Along with 3 count. 😂😂😂 such good laughs. This should be great
Been waiting for this one 😂❤
It only happened once to my knowledge but a best of seven series is also a good one.
That trios feud between Death Triangle and The Elite was amazing.
Surprised Pete didn’t bring up in his ‘guy with submission vs guy without submission’ is how we got John Cena’s Shut The F*** Up finisher 🤣
Here I go:-
10. Street Fight (when the wrestlers are actually wearing street clothes)
9. Hell In A Cell
8. Unsanctioned/Lights Out Match
7. Elimination Chamber Match
6. Iron Man Match
5. Three Stages Of Hell
4. Grave Consequences Match (shoutout to Lucha Underground)
3. WOAH GAYMES!!
2. Ladder Match (includes MITB and TLC)
1. Royal Rumble
0. Aztec Warfare (yes it's just Royal Rumble with pins but still, if you wanna improve on a classic formula, this is how you do it)
Easiest number one pick ever. Nothing beats the Rumble stipulation, and even when it is below expectations it's still pretty enjoyable.
We need to have a watch along where Luke shows Sully various TNA gimmick matches.
My favourites
Hell in a cell
Last man standing
TLC
I quit
Ladder match
It was cool how they all had the same year’s Royal rumble event! That was pretty cool!
I don't believe Luke is a 2000s TNA fan at all. I didnt hear one mention of King of the Mountain.
My list in no particular order is
1: ultimate x
2: elimination chamber
3: royal rumble
4: war games/lethal lockdown
5: three degrees of pain
6: blindfold match
7: a real Texas death match
8: casket match
9: survivors series
10: dog collar match
Forget Worst Match Ever season 2…
Give us a series with Luke and Sullivan where Luke shows him the “best” of TNA and Sully loses his mind with what he sees.
Pete: “I put no-DQ matches on here twice, sue me!”
Also Pete: **puts TLC as a 3rd**
Sullivan calling out Monster's ball, lol
Sullivan's laugh is a representation of my childhood
I grew up watching TNA more often than WWE in the 2000s, so it’s always amusing to me when Luke picks some weird TNA stipulation and my reaction is like “oh yeah, sure” and I remember not everyone is acclimated to the TNA-ness of some of their stuff lol
Would love to see best promo/video packages as a future topic. Personally I love the mania 26 shawn vs taker one.
The discussion around the Monster's Ball had me dying
Except for that one Ultimate X where the X fell down, and nobody knew what to do.
I can imagine that hanging out with Sullivan would be a hoot!!!
Disappointed that Luke didn’t have the clockwork house of fun in his list as it was raven’s signature match in tna
This may be a bit of a stretch but I believe that Luke was a fan of Tna in the mid 2000’s.
I was also wondering if Royal Rumble would make the list, because I was thinking the same way. Glad to see it in its rightful place though.
A two outta three falls match, where every fall changes the match type is actually great. We need to revive that stipulation.
Royal Rumbles are great, but I think early on they ran the risk of getting stale. Adding the world title to 1992 and then title shots every year after turned an okay gimmick into a must-watch, must-win event.
Don't judge me, but my number 1 is actually Money in the Bank... 2020. Specifically the 2020 version. I actually loved the match, and appreciate the effort.
10. Strap / Dog Collar
9. Iron Survivor
8. Submission / I Quit
7. Gauntlet
6. Ultimate X
5. Last Man Standing
4. Elimination Chamber
3. Ironman
2. Triple Threat
1. Rumble
HMs: Hell in a Cell, regular Extreme Rules, Tables
Just in case no one realises... Luke was a massive fan of TNA in the early 2000's 😂😂😂😂
I feel like Cody be Seth was the last Hell in a Cell? And the one before that I remember was Seth vs Edge at Crown Jewell which was also great. Then Roman vs Jey wasn’t long before that which was also great.
10) Two out of Three Falls - I'll admit, I only put it at #10 because of two matches. Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan at Extreme Rules 2012 and The Usos vs The Wyatt Family at Battleground 2014. But they are so good. Normally, the babyface(s) lose(s) the first fall, but even so, there is fun to be had. Like Daniel Bryan getting himself DQed in the first fall so that Sheamus was in bad shape for the rest of the match. Genius. Oops, I forgot about Cole vs Gargano. I think WWE should bring this stip back. With HHH in charge, they could get some mileage out of it.
9) Survivor Series Elimination - Fun stuff here. You can tell very interesting stories. You can do the classic "babyface is outnumbered 3 to 1" schtick and either have them come back or valiantly fall short. You can have someone like Roman Reigns kill everyone in 2013. You can give Dolph an amazing moment in 2014. You can have Keith Lee stand up to Roman Reigns. Some of the matches are long, but they don't always feel that long.
8) HIAC - Yes, it's been diluted. HIAC 2019 is a travesty (apart from the opener). And yes, it's basically a cage match with more room, but the rate at which people show out for this match is higher than expected. The first HIAC is incredible. The second one with Taker vs Mankind is also amazing. The 6-man, Batista vs HHH, Edge vs Taker, both Taker vs Brock matches, Sasha vs anyone, Usos vs New Day, Seth vs Cody. Holy heck. Even with all the crap matches, the overall batting average of this stip is pretty high. Here's hoping CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre culminates with a HIAC.
7) Street Fight - Sure, it's easy to have a good match when you can use weapons and such, but wow can these matches deliver. The pinnacle is probably HHH vs Cactus Jack, but there are so many good ones. Bad Bunny vs Damian Priest was an incredibly fun match, because you can do anything. You can involve anyone. Heck, even the tag team street fight at Backlash France was so good. Also, not sure if it counts, but the match between Randy Orton and Cactus Jack at Backlash 2004 is incredible. Randy taking the thumbtack spot is just, oof.
6) Triple Threat - Does this count? Some of my favourite matches are triple threat. Which makes sense, because you have an extra person, and with an extra person, you have extra star power, extra potential for spots, but also a higher than normal workrate, since people can take a breath when it's their turn to get tossed out of the match. If I had to name my 25 favourite matches, there would be multiple triple threats. The WM XX main event. Brock vs Cena vs Seth at RR 2015. Taker vs Rock vs Angle at Vengeance 2002. Heck, even in the last little while, we've gotten bangers. Gunther vs Drew vs Sheamus, Logan vs Orton vs KO, Bayley vs Naomi vs Tiffy Time. That's not even counting other promotions, like TNA, which put together maybe the best triple threat in wrestling history with Daniels vs AJ vs Samoa Joe in 2005. Good for TNA.
5) Elimination Chamber - So much fun to be had. The timed entrances. The structure itself, which can lead to awesome spots (like John Morrison climbing like Spider-Man and killing Sheamus). Six people (or sometimes seven. Or sometimes twelve). You can tell so many stories here. Edge being eliminated in 3 minutes in 2009 and losing the WWE title, before worming his way into the other chamber match and winning the world title. HBK screwing the Undertaker and inadvertently helping his former blood feud rival in Jericho. Santino coming within millimetres of winning the World Heavyweight Championship in 2012. Strowman killing everyone. Apart from the ECW one, the 2015 IC match and the Saudi matches, it's almost impossible to have a bad chamber match. Remember when Johnny Gargano went ham in the US chamber match last year?
4) Ladder Match - There are SO MANY good ones. HBK vs Razor (x2), HHH vs The Rock, Benoit vs Jericho, Harper vs Ziggler, the IC matches at WM 31 & 32, Cody vs Sammy. Lots of spots and something is on the line. Easy peasy.
3) TLC - TLCs 0 through 4 are absolute bangers (TLC 0 = Triangle Ladder at WM 2000) and perfect examples in the "matches to show to non-fans to get them hooked" category. Heck, arguably TLC 5 with Edge vs Cena was great. Plus some of the recent ones have also been good. I also love the genesis of the match. The Dudleyz loved tables. The Hardys loved ladders. E&C loved (braining people with) chairs. Genius to put it all together. RIP Lefteye.
2) MITB - You make a new star and give other people an opportunity to showcase their skills. It started at Wrestlemania, but then WWE realized that the match type was so good that it was possible to build a PPV around it. So many awesome spots permeate this stipulation. Sheldon running up the ladder. Jeff Hardy killing Edge. Sin Cara murdered through a ladder. Iyo Sky handcuffing Becky and Bayley. It's a testament to the stipulation that this is the only recent-ish match stipulation whose PPV/PLE isn't met with groans and shrugs. It also doesn't hurt that the best PPV of the 2010s was Money in the Bank.
1) Royal Rumble - Obviously. There are so many classic Rumble matches. Even an average Royal Rumble is a fun time. The possibilities are endless. You can tease future matches (Hogan vs Warrior in 1990). You can tell stories. You can do nifty spots. You can start / expand feuds. You make a new star in victory. You can make several new stars in defeat. It's an hour long but isn't boring which is probably the most miraculous. Also, shoutout to the 2012 Rumble. I know lots of folks hate it, but I love it.
Talking about stipulations no one remembers are stipulations, I think everyone has forgotten probably the best and most important one, tag team matches. (Which were originally introduced and treated the same way as modern stipulations, e.g. ladder matches).
I hereby request we get a series of Luke guiding Sullivan through TNA
