What kind of info are you needing on the Warm Audio's 1073? I've got a handful of the WA73 & WA273EQ's that I use every day alongside some BAE 1073 and the new 8 channel Neve 1073. They hold up 1:1 with all of the other brands including Neve. (I wouldn't have purchased the actual Neve unit, except that it would have cost me more to buy 8 channels of Warm Audio, and certainly way more for BAE.)
As far as sound, durability, and usability the Warm Audio units are right up there with the top names. As far as Warm Audio versus my actual Neve 1073OPX, the warm audio has a little more functionality due to the EQ, output transformer and gain trim function that the Neve 1073OPX does not have. They both sound fantastic though.

Thanks Carl for the great comparisson! I am not sure if I recognized all WA mics - may be you could add the list? I already own the WA-73EQ but listening to your samples I likes how the TB12 brought the vocal to the front specially with the WA-251 (?).

  • @jorgiewtf
    @jorgiewtf 3 роки тому +2

Another great video bro. You’re channel is gonna take off, I just know it. I already own the TB 12 and I’m in the beginning process of recording my album and I’ve been very itchy to pull the trigger on the WA73-EQ for a while now. Hearing your vocals I can honestly say that the TB12 almost has a bit more presence. I usually record with the tone button on and basically set the unit to as vintage as possible. In all reality, it almost just makes me wanna buy another one lol.

Definitely appreciate you for checking it out! And I’m agreeing with you for the blow up!!!
I’m a fan of 1073 style pres! I do feel like there’s a fair amount of versatility with the WA273EQ. In my opinion the TB12 is an ignored/slept on pre for a reason I don’t understand. But they both can produce solid results.

@@carljohnson9096 Yo! Thanks for checking out the video. Every one is entitled to their subjective opinions and I totally welcome that. I definitely caught the cynicism in the comment about the “600 subscribers.” I appreciate the folks that follow me, and you don’t have to, which is also your right. But this isn’t the “Carl Johnson” page. You’ve actually commented on a video uploaded to the “Carl Moore Music” page. So to me, the page owner, your cynicism is irrelevant.
I think I saw you mentioned an “A+ voice” and I’ll perceive that to be a compliment and say thank you genuinely. But as you’ve exercised your right to express a perspective, I’ll do such as well.
It’s an idiotic ideology to presume that similarities correlate boredom. I don’t think Burger King, Checkers/Rally’s, Wendy’s or any other burger franchise said, “there are thousands of McDonald’s and to see another store would excite the market.” That seems pretty illogical to utilize that belief.
Additionally, you’ve expressed your OPINION of the lyrical content. You left out the key phrase “(I feel) the lyrics from the 90’s... is not appealing in any way.” Correlation is not causation. Your opinion is a small sample size of an overall positioning on content. I do write my own lyrics but a legitimate lyricist penned this idea for me and I’ll defend it to the end.
The awesome thing about music is the idea of “taste for preference.” If one enjoys the content I make on my channel, they’re free to subscribe here and other places, comment and continue to watch/support. If one doesn’t enjoy, they can do as you’ve done, express and opinion, hit the dislike button, and etc. Nevertheless, the intent of your position doesn’t really achieve much. It’s not going to alter me from posting the content, nor will it prevent me from responding.
Like I tell everyone, thanks for checking out the video and contributing. A view (30 secs worth) is a view on UA-cam.

    • @CarlMooreMusic

Great review bro.Slick vocals!💥. I am busy making the decicion between the WA73 vs TB12. WA73 sounded brighter (in a good way though) and tone beast was smooth abit dull (not in a bad way). Which one would you recommand between the two - I mostly do vocal jazz/ Acappella Music

I feel like it depends on the needs. I prefer 1073 style preamps on vocals. I just personally like the what that style of saturation does.
When I mix, I like to run kick drums, Tom’s and even bass through the tb12. I’ll use it to track bass as well but I think that preamp would have a different reception if it were made by a different company. In my opinion, it’s pretty versatile.
All and all, I’d say wa73 EQ for vocals. But that’s just my opinion lol.

Can really hear nasal on vocal from the tb12 vs the Wa73. . .I love the tb12 on guitars, that's where it shines as far as vocals ehhh it's ok at best. Tons of other preamps at that price that are far superior. Should engage the eq may not be fair but that's what makes them different imo. Great job! Try replacing the guts on bit units, you won't regret it 😉

I read comments after listening to it, and I gotta say TB12 doesn't sound great on your vocals.
WA273eq sounds excellent for how you project the voice and clarity.
TB12 sounds incredible on electric guitar, that and WA76 compressor sounds insanely good. Probably one of the best guitar sounds I ever heard.
BUT on vocals TB12 sounds a bit - plasticy
Yes...that's my term now, it's like reducing resolution of the audio when you switch over to TB12.
BUT...that may fit some voices, that are too sharp. It kind of muffles high frequencies, so that may work excellent for someone with really high voice.
