Vintage 1073s used different transformer variants throughout their production run; but the most coveted were the very first ones made by Marinair Radar, due to their fluid and forgiving nature that saturates sweetly when pushed. They have been known to bring engineers to tears when they hear how gorgeous their mixes sound through them! Warm Audio turned to Carnhill Transformers of Cambridgeshire, UK, to design meticulous replicas of these most desirable early 1073 transformers. The results are stunning, and - to our ears - tantalizingly close to early vintage 1073s.

The problem we always want to buy more, and most likely you would use it , but most likely would sit around lol.But its nice to have at least one high end neve pre amp.

did you ever get it?I got one but I don't understand why at the 50 point it sounds muddy or something?Also I don't think I can bypass my apollo twin to fully use it
what about the Golden Age Premier PREQ-73? whats better for vocals you think bud?
@@savageoftheyear6313 ditch the apollo twin and get an AUDIENT ID22. the SEND and RETURN plugs will completely allow you to use 100% sound from the Warm Audio and not the interface. pretty cool huh!
@@TeionZ yes I got warm audio LA2A,1176,and 73 preamp with a manly preamp.I’m ordering the necessary cables now oh I got the Audient also and the UA Apollo and it sounds terrible to me

I use the WA73 preamp on rap vocals and it sounds amazing even without EQ
I agree, I went a studio just using the preamps w the eq bypassed and it was very smooth
thinking about using the WA73, with a TLM 103, going in to my apollo twin.

The vintage flavour of shorted tantalums, is a flavour to avoid :-) With that much real-estate on the front panel, WA could have chosen to spoil us, with a 15 LED strip :-)
Where should I have the red knob for a condenser mic?
Should it be set to Lift or Ground ?
How can I use it for Rap vocals and what’s the best settings?
Have the red knob at 30db or 40db and play with the out put to your liking for volume adjustment. Also set the blue knob at 80khz roll off to get rid of low frequency's you don't need in your vocal

Do a preamp like this increase the cpu usage?
That's part of the beauty of hardware. It sounds fantastic before it even gets to the computer. Zero CPU load.
