I'm not entirely convinced that these police chases involving stolen cars are real. When my car was stolen from a rural pub car park not only was I told that I should have waited 2 days and gone to my local police station to report it but that even though I knew who had nicked it and there they were going it was not their job to pursue it. I got a call the next day to say that yes it was on the local travelers site like I told them but that i had to go and recover it myself (I was a 17 year old girl) as it was to dangerous for them to go! A few months later I was threatened with evidence tampering when they wanted to fingerprint the car but I'd already sold it.

Banned from driving, oh dear ... Surely that will put an end to their criminal career, being told you're not allowed to drive a car, especially a stolen one "just don't drive a car hey?" What about the stealing of the car, reckless and dangerous driving putting the public at risk of being killed, putting the lives of police officers pursuing them at risk of an accident, fleeing from the stolen vehicle, and the damage to the stolen vehicle! The level at which these repeat criminals are willing to go to, the planning of it which can extend to breaking into people's houses to steal keys shows how committed they are and how determined they are to evade capture, determined enough to cause a high speed accident that can kill not only themselves but anyone in their vicinity including police. Adding all of these aggravating factors and coming up with a ban on driving which I dunno, probably isn't a lifetime ban not that it would make any difference! So much good policing and effort to catch these rotten people who don't have the personality or mind set to feel any remorse for the people they hurt, and having your car stolen and your house broken into or your bag snatched are all scary and quite depressing and stressful events, I say depressing because I've experienced having a car stolen and I'm not sure why it set off my major depression and anxiety to new heights that I hadn't had in years but it did. It also reminds you of the harsh reality that there are some really horrible people out there that have no value for the lives and wellbeing of anyone, probably not their own mother's and kids and definitely not someone just walking down the road.
