  • Smoking a whole chicken is super easy and is a great beginners smoker recipe for those that have to smoke for a crowd. (Ingredients & Recipe Steps below)

    Ingredients -
    - 2x whole chickens (5-7 lbs each)
    - 2 tbsp olive oil
    - 3 - 4 tbsp dry rub
    - 2 tbsp butter, melted
    Steps -
    1). Remove whole chickens from their packaging and place onto a cutting board or large sheet tray.
    2). Pat whole chickens dry with a paper towel then drizzle with olive oil as the seasoning binder. Spread the olive oil over the chicken ensuring that all parts of the chicken are covered.
    3). Evenly coat the whole chicken with a dry rub of your choice. (I used the MeatChurch Blanco seasoning in this video). Give the rub at least 20 minutes to fully adhere to the chicken prior to smoking.
    4). Place the whole chickens into the smoker and smoke at 250 degrees F until the internal temperature reaches 135 degrees F. (~2 - 2.5 hours)
    5). Once the chickens reaches 135 degrees F internal, brush the skin with melted butter and increase the smoker temperature to 400 - 415 degrees F and continue cooking until done at 165 degrees F internal temperature (Another 30 - 45 minutes)
    6). Remove the cooked smoked chickens from the smoker and allow the chickens to rest for at least 20 - 30 minutes prior to carving. Enjoy!
