Skeptical at the beginning of the video. Toward the finish I am a total believer in this maintenance procedure and furthering the longevity of the bike. I'm saving this video. Thank You
Hey Old Mechanic! I really appreciate your videos! Very detailed with lots of tips. I have a 2021 Honda CB500X and I would like more info on how to maintain my bike. Keep up the good work!
Old school, great video thanks, We all did these things years ago but now, most of this is not done. I built a bike shop in the back just so I could work on my bikes, how I miss those days. Where I live now shop is so crowded, and too small, so not as enjoyable. Going to have to build another shed, and get a lot of things out of this one and start enjoying it again. Thanks for the video brings back old times. I just got a Honda CB500X 2023, a month ago and am liking it a lot. But will never get rid of my Suzuki DR650 a great fun bike, but had to put a 20 liter gas tank on it to get some good range per tank of gas. How do you find the windshield on the CB500X I had to get a GIVI as the Honda one gave me way to much buffing around my helmet, The GIVI is also a lot easier to change the high on. No need to remove the wind shield to get at the bolts for the high adjustment. These 74 year old hands do not work as good as they use to.
I will keep you updated Sir. I just ordered all the parts I need. Brand new everything including the master cylinder. It all comes in parts. All are original OEM Kawasaki parts. I will read the Kawasaki manual AGAIN. I am little nervous putting it back together because it comes in parts. I am looking to find a reputable Kawasaki mechanic but they are hard to find. I hope to have all the parts soon. Randy
A pleasure watching a master at his craft. I've had my 2014 500X for 2 weeks now and look forward to performing this on my bike. One question, the previous owner of our house had a manual hydraulic motorcycle lift installed that I would like to try - where did you attach the lift point seen in the video and would it be strong enough to hold the bike if the lift collapsed? Cheers!
As always I enjoyed this video of yours Sir. I did all that last year on my bike. I think I saw you do that to another bike. I might do it again it’s riding time here that’s as soon as I get the old girl back. Thanks for video Old Mechanic. Randy
Hey Old Mac. Yes I did hear from the mechanics. They told me it was the rear master cylinder. They replaced it with an after market one but I don’t like it. Too hard. Feels like it does not belong on the bike. So I will get everything I need from the OEM Kawasaki parts. I found a guy who does this kind of work on just Kawasaki’s. He will put the caliper together. I will let you know how things work out. It will take a while to get the parts. Thank you Sir. Randy
Thankyou Young at Heart Mechanic. I have been motorcycling for 40 years and love your simple tips. I have done a lot of them, but always hesitant about taking apart the brake and clutch levers. You have made it simple for me. One question please: What is the brand of rack you have for the soft bags? It looks good and I would like to get one. Dave from Nova Scotia, Canada
Just got a 1983 honda magna 750 and finally got it to run after doing a good carb clean but it only will run at 3000rpms at idle if i try to drop it a little under that it will bog out and die even if its warmed up. Any advice? Or something to check. Fuel pump is good pilot screws are at factory specs.
Hi,thanks for posting these vids on the Honda 500cbx.I ride the 2017 model and they have been very helpful. I have one question if you don't mind. How often or after so many miles would you consider changing the oil in the forks ? I don't do off roading and the seals are in good order. The oil was changed at 15k when I upgraded the springs. My mileage is now 38k.Thanks.Richard (Bristol UK)
Hi Richard, when your frontfork is performing well and the seals are good then i don't touch the frontfork for 3 or 4 years. But iam sure that there are folk out there who disagree you know 😉
Dear, I would greatly appreciate it if you could explain to me the reduced power of the HondaCB500X. It should have 35kw, but mine has 25kw. This is what is written in the traffic license. The motorcycle was bought used in Switzerland. What is the mechanical procedure of restoring 35KW??? Thank you.
Most of this is great but at the beginning you put oil on the gear lever pivot, that is actually a semi sealed by rubber rings pivot that needs taking apart and greasing, oiling it will probably do more harm than good.
Great to see an old mechanic doing jobs correctly and with such pride in his work. Always a pleasure watching the videos on this channel. 😎👍
Thanks J G for people like you I make those video's 👍🏻👊🏻🏍

Can the panier rack bottom touch the top of the muffler if the shock gets close to bottoming out?
Muffler is attached to the rear foot pegs, not the swingarm. It does not move
Wholesome.
hey, thanks for the video
what kind of oil do you use?
What was holding the bike up
My winch 😉👊🏻👍🏻
