    Thanks for your nice video! I love my 2019 cb500x too, just a great friendly bike. Changed my coolant and brake fluid today. The coolant change was a bit tedious because yah need to remove the light bar and body panels to access the radiator cap and of course I had to heat cycle the engine several times to ensure it was filled to capacity before reinstalling the body panels. The old coolant looked good but what the heck now it's fresh and the water pump is happy!

    Keep it up! I like your demeanor and pace, on the verge of too slow, but not!!! Thanks! My 2020 CB500 X is the best thing I’ve ever purchase in my 57 years!!!

    I am interested in the elbow deflecting the exhaust. Is it welded on? Any tips appreciated.

    Well explained. Question. What is this open/close technique good for? Why not pumping, pumping, pumping and close instead?

    • @TheOldMechanic
      @TheOldMechanic  Рік тому +5

      Open close is to keep the pressure up, and no air can go into the system 😉

      @@TheOldMechanic got it. Thanks
      So you open when there is pressure from the brake lever and close before you let the lever lose, right?

    What's the diameter of the tubing? Or perhaps, what's the best way to ensure I get the right sizing? (I'm the old NOT mechanic!).
    This is a great video though! As are the others.

      Hey, I made my own today, in a sense. I happened to have some small engine fuel line laying around. I chose one with a thicker outer wall, just to give myself a little more room to play with doing this, but honestly I think I should have used a somewhat larger inner diameter tube with the same process.
      So ... I say go have a look at your bleeder valve, and choose some tubing with an inner diameter a little thinner. To have a metric to compare at the store, find something a little thinner -- like maybe the width of your car key -- to make sure you aren't getting something too large.
      What I did was this: I carefully (OK, not carefully enough the first time -- be careful) heated up the last half-inch or so with a lighter, and shoved in a screwdriver to help flare the tubing a little bit. I let that cool on the screwdriver, and then I warmed it up again and stretched it over the bleeder valve, carefully rocking it back and forth until it slipped over. Again, I let it cool. It will shrink back a little, but for this job you shouldn't need like a ton of grip. You're just providing a path of travel for the old fluid.

    Hello there.
    Just a quick question.
    Towards the end, when you put the cap back on you've read "warning, only use dot4".
    My cuestión is ... Why not dot5.1? Would it be harmful?

    • @TheOldMechanic
      @TheOldMechanic  2 місяці тому

      5.1 is also good. Don't use dot 5 ! !
