This was one of the most difficult videos I've ever had to edit due to a lot of crazy stuff going on in the middle, like going out of the country for two weeks, and getting engaged to my girlfriend, and other stuff. So hopefully it was worth the wait!

They did try to reboot it in the mid-2000s, but the shooting location was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. It's been in development limbo ever since. But now we actually have a movie to look forward to.
That extended Smoke flipping had me fucking rolling
I remember me and my buddies watched this way more times that I'm willing to admit back in college. Each time we watched it, we noticed more goofs than before (there's one scene where you can clearly see Scorpion waiting for his cue)

My only defense for MK1 reptile 🦎 scene is I think they was trying to bring that video game feel for reptile just popping up on you I believe that’s how it happened on the game mk1

The CGI at the end looked like it’s straight up from Reptilian/Yonddary (2001)
Never thought I would live in a world where people unironically question why the studio couldn't pay the star of a successful first franchise installment enough money to return to the bloated, poorly written, garbage sequel - with first time director - to be unceremoniously killed off in the first two minutes.
Guess it's all these Marvel movies, where you kind of _expect_ to see your favorite character for like five seconds of screen time, because it'll be slightly amusing if you do.
Like when people kept complaining about not seeing any of the Avengers in Agents of Shield. The fact that people would even _think_ to complain about that with sincerity shows how different Hollywood is because of streaming, and the internet. It's wild.

Man man man, I agree with 100% of this video. I'm glad for the reboot that's happening but I already see three BIG red flags: 1, a first-time film director, 2, a first-time film writer, and 3, very bad casting (+ race swapping) of a popular main character - Mileena. The first two could work out but the bad casting will be very hard to get pass since Mileena plays an intricate, long-term role in the storyline. I'm very excited for this 2021 reboot but very skeptical at the same time 😕.

No one wanted to make it bc video game movies are considered box office failures. And the issue is, they wanna make it a game movie instead of a martial arts film.
I feel like the first movie worked so well cause even without the mk title, it still would have held up great as just a martial arts flick.

To add onto Johnny’s minimal screen time, from what i understand, Johnny’s original actor wanted to do a sequel, but dropped out because he felt he wasn’t getting paid enough, and didn’t like the script. (Most of the original actors disliked the script, which is why they all got recast) So what’s the most logical thing to do for Johnny’s Character? Kill him off and forget he was ever even recast.
Don’t take my word that this is true, but it’s what I understand from things I’ve seen about this specific film.
Ironically, quitting midshoot because the script and pay sucked is totally a Johnny Cage thing
I heard that he was interested, read the script, and found out that they had already planned on killing him off at the start.

This movie is an absolute mess, but a beautiful one in my opinion. Every time I watch it, I always laugh my ass off. And I have to admit, I really like the guy playing Jax. Him and Lui Kang seem like the only people having a good time.

I went back and started rewatching a lot of your vids lately, and these vids along with a friend of mine have gotten me interested in really getting into Mortal Kombat. I understand you're busy a lot nowadays and the visa are getting expensive to make, but If you ever have the desire I still wanted to let you know I wouldn't mind at all seeing more MK in the future if you want a break from the comic topics, (which I of course am still a fan of as well.)

And the rest of the Spider-Man cartoon retrospectives please. But don't be confused about Unlimited referencing some bits in the 94 cartoon cause it never tried to be a sequel or allude to it, it only took a couple of familiar points into their storytelling cause it's easier to follow for those who got exposed to the show prior to Unlimited and it worked for that version but might be confused about changes shown in this show if it made them like the symbiote on the Hudson river. At least Unlimited didn't throw in Rhino and SHOOOOOCKEEEER.

Yeah that Jade casting was hilarious. At least with Kitana, her character sprite's skin complexion left enough room for interpretation as for what ethnicity she could've been despite her design having clear Asian influence, but Jade was a major duh. Like they at least could've gotten an Indian chick or something lol

"You can just paint the suit red after you're done with it"...that's literally what they done. The smoke suit was the same one as cyrax, just painted. The main reptile suit was also the scorpion suit repainted.
