Band Maid self describes as a hard rock band, but do range all over the place. Their newest video, Bestie, is a emo-ish soft rock. There is a 2 songs in 1 video, Manners, and Black Hole that shows some of their scope. Blues rock to controlled chaos.

      +1 to Manners/Blackhole Live
Manners is the grooviest song BAND-MAID has done and this is the grooviest version of it.
Black Hole is complicated. Not every ones taste. But, if you really get into it and understands its complicated structure it is fantastic.

Great Reaction, Welcome to Band-Maid Fellas!
130+ songs with nary a dud in the bunch. 10 Years of musical evolution and excellence that bends and often breaks its way across musical rules at will. One of the most fun and Surprising things about this band is that, once you "Think" you know them, they'll turn back and Surprise you again .
Now I'm a Band-Maid to my bones kinda guy and don't usually go around promoting other bands but It seems like you guys were looking to scratch a particular musical itch at the start of the video.. So here are 3 bands that may do so . Uh oh yeah, also Japanese and all female and all talented in their own ways.
Power Metal (Maiden & Priest style) = Love Bites; "Holy War"
Alt Metal = Nemophila; "Rise MV"
Core Metal (Harajukucore) = Hanabie "Pardon Me I have to go now MV"
I think you will find yourself pleasantly surprised by all three But please keep the Band-Maid coming first and foremost, priorities and whatnot 😊

The Maids have sooooo many OUTSTANDING tracks that it's totally normal to forget that some of them exist. Seriously, I'm not being hyperbolic (it's CRAZY). As we Maidiacs always say, "Your favorite Band-Maid song is the last one your listened to". Definitely check out what Roger and JKkansas recommended. GREAT songs! And then check out everything else that has been recommended...and THEN whatever hasn't (yet) been requested. You'll see. Thanks guys! 🕊

If you want versatility, you found the right band! You can't go wrong, any song (especially on headphones) has layers of instrumental and compositional genius. To get a beginning idea of their stylistic range, I would suggest the two-fer of "Manners" and "Black Hole" from one of their COVID-year livestreamed but unfortunately audienceless concerts. Then for a really emotional ballad/anthem/ appreciation of their fans, the live concert MV of "Endless Story." And that would just be a start 😊 E.g., one of the side projects ties in with your "Peace & Love" sign-off but it's probably not even the coolest one.

Roger strikes again! Welcome to Band-Maid, guys. These ladies are even better than you think they are. Their catalogue is massive, and their songwriting is so good that you sometimes have to wonder if Mincho didn't sell her soul to the devil or something. They can and do play lots of different styles musically. You say you want ballads? A great power ballad like the kind you said you liked would be Daydreaming, but they've got more - both acoustic and otherwise. You want more songs that go hard? They've got LOTS, and I'd recommend From Now On MV (an instrumental). But a great plan also is to just pick one at random. Then when it turns out to be great, you'll realize sooner how f'ing good they are. They don't miss.

Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band.
Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. Poker shark and horse racing fanatic. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Definitely eccentric, possibly insane.
Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors. A sweet, motherly woman who turns into a beast when you hand her a guitar.
Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Completely unflappable. Frequently snacks between songs. Has been known to sign her banana peels and throw them to the audience.
MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls.
Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. Regards her band mates, especially Kanami and Miku, with bemused exasperation. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).

The Warning and Band Maid have met and like each other and are going to play a show together in Japan in June. That ought to be something to see. BEST ROCK BAND ON THE PLANET. Hello again to Roger Chance, the Band Maid emissary. Watch MANNERS MV for slower, watch NO GOD live if you really want to see Misa (bass) go off for a little bit. Watch DOMINATION live if you want to cover all the bases. FREEDOM has a drum solo. DAYDREAMING for a sort of ballad. There is a plethora to choose from and Band Maid incorporates all kinds of genres into their music. Another great one is INFLUENCER. Have fun, you won't get bored. They also just did a collaboration with Mike(?) from Incubus called BESTIE for something slow and sentimental.

It's an interesting question. Had Band-Maid come out in the 80s, there would be no question they'd be put in the metal category, they're absolutely that hard at times. I prefer to think of them as incorporating metal elements in the compositions... along with elements of so many other rock genres, jazz, etc.
What Band-Maid has over even a lot of metal bands is amazing attack. Like in Hate here, when they come back in after the short pause, the sound hits like thunder. But then they don't rely on the standard thumping metal routine, they go into something immediately more dynamic. People comment on Akane's double-bass kicks, but what's really great about them is that she alternates them, or sprinkles them in here or there for dynamic effect, where a metal band would often just monotonously hammer away at them at a steady pace.
It's all about composition. Great composition, beholden to no genre limits. They will steal any idea from anybody, and make it better.

Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26 last year. The ladies are great. Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance.
We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". This feature is very different from other Asian countries and the history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

The Warning is traveling to Japan to do a few shows with Band-Maid this summer! Band-Maid aren't metal, their genre is Band-Maid. They do what they want and cross all genres often in one song. Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things. There's a 2 song video that was recorded live in an online concert, Warning/Black hole. Sayonakidori live is an acoustic from their acoustic Christmas Concert where it's only 3 members and MISA (bassist) plays lead. Daydreaming is a ballad. The thing about the maids is it will be tough finding a song you don't like (if you don't, listen again and it will grow on you) and they are always coming up with things to surprise us. The acoustic concert. the Genshin Impact concert (one song), Band-Maiko with traditional dress and instruments. Dive in.

As killer as this performance is? “Hate” isn’t even in my top 30 Band Maid songs
Based on what you liked here? “Moratorium” for your heavier one. “Daydreaming” for your midtempo.

Did you say they "DOMINATED" those instruments? That's not all they dominate, they're out for world domination... check out the song Domination, live from their World Domination tour! ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html
Great reaction, you guys noted the amazing bass playing right away, and picked up on the generally great playing and riffs, and you noticed that their genre is speed-rock-pop-punk-metal-funk-jazz-grunge-indie-blues-thrash-folk-emo... or as we Madiacs say, the genre is Band-Maid. So much more for you to check out, however, if you're willing to go down this "pigeon hole"! That includes not just a few ballads, which I think you're going to like, but also some crazy stuff like acoustic sets, instrumentals, and multiple alter-egos!
Oh, by the way, you say that you're Warning fans? The Warning are fans of Band-Maid and vice versa, and in about a month, they're doing a couple of shows together in Tokyo to introduce the Warning to Japanese audiences. We're all wondering if a collaboration is in the offing between the two groups (Band-Maid's last single drop was a collab with Mike Einzinger from Incubus).
    Rock on!

Maybe it's time to meet 5 beautiful ladies in high heels and dresses playing classic heavy metal? For starters, I recommend the song Break the Wall from their earlier albums. Boasting over 70 hit singles, they won Best New Metal Band at the Metal Hammer Awards in 2018. The girls play heavy, thrash, power and prog metal, they also have some beautiful ballads. If you want to stay in Japan and want heavy metal give some of these popular Babymetal songs a listen. ( Don't let the name fool you they sell out arenas, and cover heavy metal, EDM, jpop all into one...but I'm only listing the heavier tracks from older to newer), (Babymetal is best enjoyed live, however there only one MV where I prefer over the live version ).
    1. Megitsune music video (off first album).
    2. Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live (highlights the kami band behind the girls, invite only arena, heavy Nightmare ballad song, and probably the best bass player from the East).
    3. Maya live at pia arena (off new album)
BMTH Kingslayer ft BabyMetal live in Tokyo (had to throw this on the list even if it's a feature 🔥💯🎶).
Oh and be sure to check out Band-Maid FROM NOW ON song!!

They often get described as "metal", but they're really more like Hard Rock with a Punk twist. But they have a lot of songs, and they have a number of different styles. Hard rock really is their taste for much of it. I'd stick to the "Live Videos" more than the studio "Music Videos". They put a lot extra into each live performance. They also have softer semi-acoustic stuff they do under the "Band-Maiko" name. (Band-Maiko is Geisha themed costumes rather than Maid themed of Band-Maid)

Band Maid are more rock than metal. Some of their songs have metal elements, some have pop rock styles. Please don't think they have many heavy metal songs in their repertoire. They are a fantastic rock band with many excellent tracks to their name.
If you want a female heavy metal band, you will enjoy Lovebites. They do not have one bad track in my opinion. Their metal style is varied. Depending on the song, you can hear Slayer influences, Iron Maiden influences, Motorhead influences, DragonForce influences etc. As a suggestion try their song: Raise Some Hell. Go to Lovebites Official UA-cam channel and you will see a live performance listed.

If I was to make a list of who I believe are the best all-female bands in the world right now, at least half would be from Japan - Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie and Gacharic Spin. I have seen both Band-Maid and Nemophila live and will see Lovebites in September. Band-Maid's most recent full length album, Unseen World, is in my top 10 rock/metal albums of 2021. It is that good.
Lovebites is a heavy/power/thrash metal band and, in my opinion, one of the best NWOTHM bands in the world. A good starting song is Set The World On Fire - ua-cam.com/video/99zsH6iG_6c/v-deo.html
Nemophila is harder to classify but Metalcore is accurate for many of their songs. One of the first songs, if not the first song, released by Nemophila is Oiran. Here is a video of a live performance which was livestreamed because of the pandemic - ua-cam.com/video/19VQ9tkWksQ/v-deo.html
Hanabie is a band you need to go in completely blind. Here is a link to their song We Love Sweets - ua-cam.com/video/G18yyvPCiTM/v-deo.html
Gacharic Spin is also a band that is hard to classify, but they have a funk rock feel due to their bassist (who is up there with Misa, the Band-Maid bassist). They also have a member I consider the Dave Grohl of Japan because she is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist (she is on drums in my suggested music video). The song is called MindSet - ua-cam.com/video/QmL0V667QzI/v-deo.html
    Enjoy!

Yes Band Maid one of the most overqualified Bands, in principle evety of their artists could compose, but in fact Kanami composes a song in principle butvthen they modify and add sometimes lyrics. Especially Misa (Bass Guitar and Akane Drums) have the tendency to change theirvDesignations if the Song needs it.

If you want REAL Japanese metal tho ( Band-Maid are hard rock), you have to try Lovebites- Hammer of Wrath. An Iron Maiden like assault of duel guitars. Or perhaps a hardcore gutteral scream and Tokyo pop fusion that'll blow your mind and speakers with Hanabie-We Love Sweets. Or try Nemophila-Oiran for some amazing vocals and guitar work.

It's amazing how Band-Maid has rewritten the laws of nature: Hate brings Love! 😖--->🎀--->😍 btw - I’m still watching the incredible "BAND-MAID 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR SPIN OFF" live-stream concert (on Zaiko). Listen fans and Maidiacs... seriously, if you've ever seen Band-Maid live, you know they play at an extremely high level of performance and execution. And there is no band that I'm aware of playing today, other than The Warning, that has a more extensive catalog of majorly awesome songs.
I would place this concert among the top of all Band-Maid concerts for insane playing, setlist, and audio quality, and is even better than Yokohama for an audio experience from video, imo.
To put it simply, this concert punches hard and totally worth the few bucks to experience it! When I was watching it, I was thinking about how The Warning, following Band-Maid (I believe) at their June 12, 2-man concert, is going to feel about it! I know I wouldn't want to follow the Maids! However, The Warning has all the earned confidence in the world! 🎀🤘😜🤘🎀 The concert is available to view on archive until 2024/05/28 (bandmaid.tokyo/contents/742715) Thx, JB & Dave!

Welcome, Johnny & Dave. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 200 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:

BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom.
Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular!
Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/v-deo.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Shambles, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on.
But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Sense, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ua-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/v-deo.html)
And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts:
 2023 Yokohama 10th Year Anniversary Concert “Endless Story” ua-cam.com/video/Za1y-RRVd70/v-deo.html
     ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ua-cam.com/video/nAdWnIRjGak/v-deo.html

     ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” ua-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/v-deo.html
 Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD.
And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. Here’s two of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at an intimate venue:
 Shot by Pat McKee from their 2023 US tour concert in Detroit: ua-cam.com/video/DgxU-MVjta0/v-deo.html
     See the Maids 2023 Rockville Festival’s short-set perfection performance: ua-cam.com/video/vjZkNeoGmhc/v-deo.html
If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

    Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen!
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans.
    [BAND-MAID NEWS]
 BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have included the Acoustic Christmas 2021, ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts! Fans can now see more than 50 great live performances with awesome audio, etc. like Fate, I Can't Live Without You and the great MISA / Kanami exchange in Don't You Tell Me. Those concerts are two of the best produced & performed concerts ever recorded, IMO. bandmaidprime.tokyo
 The Maids SOLD OUT 2023 US & Mexico tour wrapped up and was a fantastic success. And so many great live fancams to watch! Their playing and antics were as fresh and fun to experience from first show to last. BRAVO Band-Maid!!!!! In addition, their Japan tour finished up with 13 concerts, AND they’re writing and recording for their new album. Their 10th Anniversary Tour concluded at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023 and in Hong Kong Dec. 21! And their latest 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR SPIN OFF concert at KT ZEPP YOKOHAMA on February 22, 2024, where they played songs not performed at the 10th anniversary tour final at Yokohama Arena, was SOLD OUT!
