  • Homemade Timegrapher that does the job without breaking the bank.
the combination of a smartphone app and a homebuilt microphone is almost as good as an expensive device from the factory. This can be the perfect tool to regulate your watch with tools you might have already in your home. Regulating a watch that runs to slow or to fast is impossible without a device like this. All you need is an microphone, a smartphone and the clock tuner app.
For the record, I have nothing to do with this app and just payed for it.. so don't ask me about it I can't help you with it as long they not endorse the channel

This is a fine idea to spend an afternoon experimenting.

Tnx, it was a experiment and did work nicely. Sure, it's not a grapher (I have one)but this is just fun to make and not everyone can afford a grapher

i tried using a mic and watch-o-scope and it didnt pick up any beats on a ETA 2836-2, the previous owner had regulated it to +4 to +6 seconds a day which is incredibly accurate, im more curious to confirm the beat frequency so as a project im going to try a simple piezo to pre-amp to 3,5 mono. From what i read it should work well and the trick to cleaning up the signal is to use a shielded wire on the brass side of the piezo. I think watch-o-scope is a better app as it includes the lift angle of the movement, im not sure if that app has that included.

There are many options... I did change some things and used a real microphone that has a build in pre-amp but I did bought a while ago a real grapher so I don't use it anymore only as a project :)

    Great...I'm going to try that..
You might have just saved me £150. Thanks.
I'll let you know how I get on.
I have 3 watches needing regulation. If I can get them within a reasonable + - then for 5bucks that is indeed perfection

Watch accuracy meter is a fine app too. And it's free.

I would be interested on something for a digital stopwatch where I do not hear anything from. Anyone has made anything similar?

Are you seriously considering this a review? How do you exactly define 'perfect'? You did not even compare it to an actual watchmaker timegrapher that uses a piezoelectric acoustic emission sensor (i.e. detects waves through objects not air). You are testing a setup that uses a microphone (and an awful one probably), which is picking up all the surrounding sound and producing noise and error in the app. You can't just do random stuff and conclude that something 'works perfect'. Maybe test this app in a very quite environment with the mic fixed to the watch body, and compare the results to an actual timegrapher before saying this app 'works perfect'.

It's perfect if it tells you the real beat-rate.... And Keep in mind it's free... Afforce it's not the same if you look to complain about something your lucky... I have a real one but that is not the point.... You are right I made a real bad review I hope your happy now.

      True, do comparison.. And conclude.

Damn dude, who shat in your cereal that day? It is mad that you would go out of your way to shit on someone's creation this much. If you're triggered by it this much, buy a timegrapger and click away. Besides that, to your point: "You can't just do random stuff and conclude that something 'works perfect' ". He absolutely can do that if it is working perfectly for HIM. So you've got your own set of hands to find or make something that works perfectly for you instead shitting on random people online.
