I'm with you, and totally agree with you. You most likely will end up being a carer and doing freaking everything for them without getting any respect back. I gave up on men 12 years ago after an abusive, money stealing ex, I have never been more happier. I feel sorry for women that insist on having a male in their lives. I know some women end up with a good one, but they are few and far between......especially in Australia, where 99% of men are misogynists.
Amen! If you can't stand living alone, get a pet! Less drama and lots of unconditional love. I was married to a narcissist for 32 years. I am now divorced and have a dog! Love it, and can always get another dog if I want and don't have all the drama!! Happier than I have been in years!!

Sandy, I’m 73 and a widower of 3 yrs. I could not go another year of grieving, so this yr.2024, I decided something had to change. I didn’t consider dating any woman ever again. My Wife was it and now gone from cancer. Then, this last Christmas Eve, I ran into a woman my Wife knew at our church, long story short, we’re dating, but neither of us are looking to marry, we just like/want each other’s company. We have all of the important things in common. I can’t imagine looking for anyone else, she’s ideal for me.
That's what I'd want if I ever lost my husband. Someone I could go out to eat with, or shopping. Things like that. But also someone I could talk to and not feel lonely. Sounds great! I too would want someone that is a good Christian man...❤

I have gone out on dates, also with men who had lost their wives, and that they just talked about themselves. They told me their whole life with their wife. I really think that they should go to a grief counselor, before they even start to date. Because I am not a psychiatrist. Another man, would talk only about himself, and everything was negative about people, his neighbors, aches, and pains, so the last time he called, I just said I don’t think we have anything in common. He got indignant and asked why. I just told him I’m sorry, but you are a very negative person. Well, he didn’t like that, but then I gave him examples, what he had said to me. I think he was a little surprised, but maybe it opened his eyes to how he comes across. Most of the men that I have met, I only meet for coffee because I don’t want to spend much time with them initially. And if I give them my phone number or text number, they are so clingy and want my constant time and attention, I just end it. I guess I’m getting fussier in my old age. LOL
They are only after a substitute mummy that will do their bidding. It's proven that women without men live longer and do not age half as much. It's freaking true too. After my ex left 12 years ago, I am healthier, fitter and don't look miserable and drawn in the face. I think if he had stayed, I would have been dead by now.

I have online dated for about 5 years off and on. I have met several " nice " men but did not click with them. Some, I remained friends with. Recently, I finally met a man who is respectful, caring, honest, and sexy. He is 74, I am 71. He actually likes to get out and do things.He is not rushing things, and my family loves him. We are very attracted to each other. He planned a trip for us for July, 3 months from now, all expenses paid. Just generous and thoughtful.

Same here widowed after 49 yrs. Loved my husband, still is my husband, father of our children, life partner. Don’t want the responsibility of a relationship. Notice she has no children and was only married 25 yrs. She probably had dated as an adult. I married my high school sweetheart all I ever knew.
Best keep away from any men then. :) My mum lost my dad in 2008, three years later she had a new man. They never lived together but because he had had major heart surgery, she became his carer, even though mum was in her 80's herself. She looked after him for 8 or 9 years until he passed. She got no respect or thank you from him or his family, only abuse. Seriously I don't think there are many decent ones out there. I have never been lucky with men, they end up trying to control me, and steal from me.... so it's best I keep away.

6 years of online dating isn’t the same thing as knowing what you want & looking for a mate who shares your values Lots of people “ date” like crazy, and then complain there’s no Prince Charming. Dating and mating after 50 years of age is totally different than earlier in life.
I lost my husband of 45 years 3 years ago. I am terribly bereaved. My brother tells me only after 5 years can you feel better so 2 more years to go. Meanwhile I have had a marriage proposal and some guys liking me but it just doesn't work. Nothing wrong with them. I take the blame. I still just can't get involved with anyone. Let's hope this bereavement finishes soon. I think bereavement is terrible. Nothing helps.😢
@@user-he2bb6te3i Please consider making an appointment with a licensed therapist. I did and it helped. Also, some people find bereavement groups helpful. Every person grieves on their own time. Five years is not the standard grieving time. Don't waste the next 2 years waiting for it to end. Hope you feel better soon.

I chose a dating site, the only time in my life at the age 61 yrs old. I gave the site 30 days, after that the special offer was up and you had to commit to a six month deal. Like you Sandy, i had interesting and different dates, no really bad experiencing. I chose to walk on the beach for first time meet ups. I met my husband on the 28th day of being on the site. He too, stood out from the rest and we married 2 yrs later.

I haven't dated since 2008 and I really don't care. I am very happy and so glad I don't have to deal with drama, especially when a man asked me to get a bank loan for $40,000. Said no and never heard from him again.
My mom is 89, her boyfriend is 86. They met a few years go and have been partners ever since…she lives in her home, he’s in his home a few minutes drive away. No marriage necessary. She cooks dinner 3 days, he cooks 3 days and on Sunday they go out. Works for them almost 7 years so far. Both have interests of their own. Grown children of each ( me being one) are so happy with this arrangement they’ve chosen. Had stepfamily in the past and thankfully never again!!!!!

Hi Sandy, so happy you met the right one for you. About 25 years ago when I was in my early 50’s my husband decided he didn’t want to be married any longer so we separated and eventually divorced. Six months later, after recovering from the shock of what had happened, I decided to try online dating. Went on a few strange dates then decided it just wasn’t working for me. I eventually met somebody through work that lasted over two years. When that man decided to get back together with his ex wife it left me devastated. Since then I’ve dated a few times but am no longer interested in meeting “someone special”. I love being single and enjoying my retirement and having full control of the remote!😉
I enjoyed this.I am 70 and just started becoming interested in dating. One main problem is that I am extremely thin skinned and hate being disappointed and rejected.I just don’t have the perseverance! I give up after one or two bad experiences.

I’m 79 and I did try online dating and had two love affairs - after one year I wouldn’t change my style in art or dress to please so we decided that was that. My second was a movie star good looking pilot and at 2 years he had a moped accident in Bermuda with his son and died later of complications. Since then I’ve been seeing a widower whose wife was on the Art Board with me in the small resort town I live in but his kids (60 years old) think he should live out his years solo (about inheritance). I’ll be spending Thanksgiving solo on a nice travel adventure - classic. So offspring can be a deal breaker for seniors wanting to date, just a FYI. I still see him ❤
yes the inheritance thing is a big red flag for the children but there is such a thing as the father organizing the money and putting money and property in Trusts etc.... it is kind of stupid for the kids to get their gold digging claws out when there is such a simple solution.

I’m a female happily married 44 years. My husband is 9 years older than me and has told me more than once this last year if something happened to him, he would want me to remarry. I also see people meeting from: having a mutual friend, social gatherings, and even doing mundane things like grocery shopping! There are even more ways, but I'd say these are the tops :)

You get yourself looking the best you can.. dress nice, makeup, etc. Then you meet someone who either doesn’t like you or you dont like them. It is awkward and takes too much time, energy and feelings. Many are looking for a nurse or a purse.

No interest. My life is full. I’m busy learning about myself & what God’s plan is for the rest of my life. One day at a time and I’m content. And there are many narcissists out there, both male and female. I’ve seen what happens when a nice person meets and is conned by a manipulator. So sad.

I am 63 and divorced two years ago after a 30-year marriage. I'm so happy to be out of that situation. I really reluctant to try online dating--I have heard too many stories about men just wanting hook-ups--I'm not into that culture. I think it’s beautiful that men talk about their wives who are gone on a date. They were one body and they will always be intertwined❤ I think it’s important to also know the other person they were with so you can celebrate their lives together while making new memories. Women can be insecure, you have to spiritually love the one who passed too💔❤️
The thought of companionship and a travel partner is appealing. However, many men I have dated revealed all their serious health issues on the first date which was a huge turnoff. It may sound selfish but I'm really not interested in being a nurse to someone I barely know which would negatively impact my own quality of life. Dating in your '70's is complicated because of serious problems relating to the aging process as well as taking on someone at the last stage of life. Staying healthy and sane requires stress free living so it's something we must consider!

Hi Sandy, great video and I can relate to all that you are saying. I do on line dating, not that I enjoy it, as it is very tedious and disappointing, but it is one of those "necessary evils." lol. And, I go out every weekend as well, but have not had much luck in finding , what I call , qualified men. Have had a number of coffee dates/meetings and they can be enormously tedious, so I try to weed out those by either email or a brief phone call....it can be more efficient. It is a numbers game.
I met a woman through a friend..I am 81, she is 71..we were both widowed.i was married 60 years..her 47 years..neither one of us had any affairs ever..she had a good marriage it seems..Mine was not so good..From the first date I knew she was the one I wanted to be with. That was 7 months ago and each time we see each other,it is like a new adventure for us..we live 9 miles apart and see each other 2-3 times a week. We have yet to have any fights or anything negative happen since we met. We are very much in love. She is the best thing that has happened to me in my life.

Hello Sandy....Awesome video, I went on a couple different On-Line dating apps, most of them were full of catfishers and then I found Silver Singles, so far SS seems to work pretty well....I am also in a small community so I get to drive, that makes me sad. I do not have a list of requirements other than I must be attracted to them, I could care less if they are tall or short, dye their hair or not, I just don't care about those things....I did find what I believe to be a wonderful lady, I guess only time will tell....the thing that is difficult at least for me, I do not want to date multiple people, it just doesn't seem right to me...I think because I don' want to hurt anyone's feelings, lord knows we have all been hurt enough.
The way to avoid multiple unfruitful dates is to have at least one lengthy conversation on the phone before a coffee date mid morning or mid afternoon with a 1 hour or 39 minute time limit. No chemistry, no second meeting, no major investment, no hard feelings.
I've dipped into on-line dating in my late 60s and find that most men my age at online dating sites are looking for someone younger! Only men considerably older than me have contacted me when I post my profile. I find that sad (and puzzling) as I am a very "young" almost 70. I look much younger (naturally LOL). I hike. I love to travel. I have no health issues. I am still working part-time and love it. So, although I have no problem dating an older man, I would also like to meet some men my age or even younger -- women do live longer than men on average and I want someone who can be as active as I am for as long as we can. Have other women found this to be the case as well?
If you want a truthful answer to this question, ask a gentleman who cares to tell you his truth. But most women I interact with really just want to ask their girlfriends and essentially reinforce their own beliefs.

I am 57 years old. I’ve tried online dating I’m not for over 10 years. But I find that most men are lying, and the men that I find interesting end up, ghosting me. I really don’t want to date online. I don’t think that just because you don’t want to date online does it mean that you don’t really want to meet someone.

What I love is no headaches. the idea of dating gives me a panic attack. Controlling, loud, obnoxious, bossy men are huge turn off. Especially if they are under 6'2". I like gracious, polite, courteous, well-mannered, well traveled and well-behaved politically astute men, who are interesting conversationalists.
I can relate. I gave up on online dating 25 years ago, which was fun for a short while. I found it was hard to make friends, which was probably as important or more important of a goal of mine that finding "the one" or a spouse, because I though that is too much pressure and expectations to put on the dating process. The problem was when I met someone I liked and wanted to get to know better, that happened a few times, but as soon as the woman would make a romantic connection, almost always that did not work out for her because they would jump into things too fast, that the woman would forget about me. Once that happens you know not to really trust that person or depend on them as a friend. So as it turned out it was kind of a fun diversion and a good way to waste time, it did not turn out to be workable for me. Plus at the time I was working more than full time and had other things going on. I eventually felt it was better to just leave it up to chance to meet someone or to just be alone and make the best of it. Your story is very interesting. Good luck to you.
I love your spirit!! I’m in my early 70’s. My ex had an affair and walked out. And no she was not the younger woman! It took years for me to change my mindset thinking all men were like him. They are not! I made a decision to not date widowers. I tried one and it was everything I thought it would be. All he talked about was her. I found that they can be a devil when living but become a saint when they die. He was a nice man and we had a good date but he was definitely not ready to be out in the world. I did eventually meet a man. We have been dating for over 7 years. No one says it has to be marriage. But I enjoy the company of men. Their outlook and input in life. I have many GF’s but I want to do more than just go for lunch or dinner. I want to do things. Fun things and I find women just want to stay home. Life is too short and it makes them too set in their ways. The beauty of all this is you do you.
Yes. On both sides of the aisle. I usually talk with them on the phone for at least an hour to get to know them. And the key is listening carefully to what they say in response to my questions. Too many men just blather on and on about themselves and don’t listen and ask questions or have a discussion.

Sandy, I’m 73 and a widower of 3 yrs. I could not go another year of grieving, so this yr.2024, I decided something had to change. I didn’t consider dating any woman ever again. My Wife was it and now gone from cancer. Then, this last Christmas Eve, I ran into a woman my Wife knew at our church, long story short, we’re dating, but neither of us are looking to marry, we just like/want each other’s company. We have all of the important things in common. I can’t imagine looking for anyone else, she’s ideal for me.

I have gone out on dates, also with men who had lost their wives, and that they just talked about themselves. They told me their whole life with their wife. I really think that they should go to a grief counselor, before they even start to date. Because I am not a psychiatrist. Another man, would talk only about himself, and everything was negative about people, his neighbors, aches, and pains, so the last time he called, I just said I don’t think we have anything in common. He got indignant and asked why. I just told him I’m sorry, but you are a very negative person. Well, he didn’t like that, but then I gave him examples, what he had said to me. I think he was a little surprised, but maybe it opened his eyes to how he comes across. Most of the men that I have met, I only meet for coffee because I don’t want to spend much time with them initially. And if I give them my phone number or text number, they are so clingy and want my constant time and attention, I just end it. I guess I’m getting fussier in my old age. LOL
They are only after a substitute mummy that will do their bidding. It's proven that women without men live longer and do not age half as much. It's freaking true too. After my ex left 12 years ago, I am healthier, fitter and don't look miserable and drawn in the face. I think if he had stayed, I would have been dead by now.

Notice she has no children and was only married 25 yrs. She probably had dated as an adult. I married my high school sweetheart all I ever knew.
Best keep away from any men then. :) My mum lost my dad in 2008, three years later she had a new man. They never lived together but because he had had major heart surgery, she became his carer, even though mum was in her 80's herself. She looked after him for 8 or 9 years until he passed. She got no respect or thank you from him or his family, only abuse. Seriously I don't think there are many decent ones out there. I have never been lucky with men, they end up trying to control me, and steal from me.... so it's best I keep away.

I lost my husband of 45 years 3 years ago. I am terribly bereaved. My brother tells me only after 5 years can you feel better so 2 more years to go. Meanwhile I have had a marriage proposal and some guys liking me but it just doesn't work. Nothing wrong with them. I take the blame. I still just can't get involved with anyone. Let's hope this bereavement finishes soon. I think bereavement is terrible. Nothing helps.😢

Five years is not the standard grieving time. Don't waste the next 2 years waiting for it to end. Hope you feel better soon.

Like you Sandy, i had interesting and different dates, no really bad experiencing. I chose to walk on the beach for first time meet ups. I met my husband on the 28th day of being on the site. He too, stood out from the rest and we married 2 yrs later.

My mom is 89, her boyfriend is 86. They met a few years go and have been partners ever since…she lives in her home, he’s in his home a few minutes drive away. No marriage necessary. She cooks dinner 3 days, he cooks 3 days and on Sunday they go out. Works for them almost 7 years so far. Both have interests of their own. Grown children of each ( me being one) are so happy with this arrangement they’ve chosen. Had stepfamily in the past and thankfully never again!!!!!

Hi Sandy, so happy you met the right one for you. About 25 years ago when I was in my early 50’s my husband decided he didn’t want to be married any longer so we separated and eventually divorced. Six months later, after recovering from the shock of what had happened, I decided to try online dating. Went on a few strange dates then decided it just wasn’t working for me. I eventually met somebody through work that lasted over two years. When that man decided to get back together with his ex wife it left me devastated. Since then I’ve dated a few times but am no longer interested in meeting “someone special”. I love being single and enjoying my retirement and having full control of the remote!😉

I enjoyed this.I am 70 and just started becoming interested in dating. One main problem is that I am extremely thin skinned and hate being disappointed and rejected.I just don’t have the perseverance! I give up after one or two bad experiences.

I’m 79 and I did try online dating and had two love affairs - after one year I wouldn’t change my style in art or dress to please so we decided that was that. My second was a movie star good looking pilot and at 2 years he had a moped accident in Bermuda with his son and died later of complications. Since then I’ve been seeing a widower whose wife was on the Art Board with me in the small resort town I live in but his kids (60 years old) think he should live out his years solo (about inheritance).
I’ll be spending Thanksgiving solo on a nice travel adventure - classic. So offspring can be a deal breaker for seniors wanting to date, just a FYI. I still see him ❤

yes the inheritance thing is a big red flag for the children but there is such a thing as the father organizing the money and putting money and property in Trusts etc.... it is kind of stupid for the kids to get their gold digging claws out when there is such a simple solution.
You go, girl! Family interference would be a dealbreaker for me. My girls look out for me, but let me make my own mistakes, and I appreciate it. Sometimes they have seen " red flags" that I missed, and I always have the gentlemen meet my family. The problem come in when they really like him but I don't, lol.

Dating is exhausting and steals your life energy that you could be using on your own life.
You get yourself looking the best you can.. dress nice, makeup, etc. Then you meet someone who either doesn’t like you or you dont like them. It is awkward and takes too much time, energy and feelings. Many are looking for a nurse or a purse.

I really reluctant to try online dating--I have heard too many stories about men just wanting hook-ups--I'm not into that culture. They were one body and they will always be intertwined❤ I think it’s important to also know the other person they were with so you can celebrate their lives together while making new memories. Women can be insecure, you have to spiritually love the one who passed too💔❤️
The thought of companionship and a travel partner is appealing. However, many men I have dated revealed all their serious health issues on the first date which was a huge turnoff. It may sound selfish but I'm really not interested in being a nurse to someone I barely know which would negatively impact my own quality of life. Dating in your '70's is complicated because of serious problems relating to the aging process as well as taking on someone at the last stage of life. Staying healthy and sane requires stress free living so it's something we must consider!

Hi Sandy, great video and I can relate to all that you are saying. I do on line dating, not that I enjoy it, as it is very tedious and disappointing, but it is one of those "necessary evils." lol. And, I go out every weekend as well, but have not had much luck in finding , what I call , qualified men. Have had a number of coffee dates/meetings and they can be enormously tedious, so I try to weed out those by either email or a brief phone call....it can be more efficient. It is a numbers game.

I met a woman through a friend..I am 81, she is 71..we were both widowed.i was married 60 years..her 47 years..neither one of us had any affairs ever..she had a good marriage it seems..Mine was not so good..From the first date I knew she was the one I wanted to be with. That was 7 months ago and each time we see each other,it is like a new adventure for us..we live 9 miles apart and see each other 2-3 times a week. We have yet to have any fights or anything negative happen since we met. We are very much in love. She is the best thing that has happened to me in my life.

Hello Sandy....Awesome video, I went on a couple different On-Line dating apps, most of them were full of catfishers and then I found Silver Singles, so far SS seems to work pretty well....I am also in a small community so I get to drive, that makes me sad. I do not have a list of requirements other than I must be attracted to them, I could care less if they are tall or short, dye their hair or not, I just don't care about those things....I did find what I believe to be a wonderful lady, I guess only time will tell....the thing that is difficult at least for me, I do not want to date multiple people, it just doesn't seem right to me...I think because I don' want to hurt anyone's feelings, lord knows we have all been hurt enough.

The way to avoid multiple unfruitful dates is to have at least one lengthy conversation on the phone before a coffee date mid morning or mid afternoon with a 1 hour or 39 minute time limit. No chemistry, no second meeting, no major investment, no hard feelings.

I've dipped into on-line dating in my late 60s and find that most men my age at online dating sites are looking for someone younger! Only men considerably older than me have contacted me when I post my profile. I find that sad (and puzzling) as I am a very "young" almost 70. I look much younger (naturally LOL). I hike. I love to travel. I have no health issues. I am still working part-time and love it. So, although I have no problem dating an older man, I would also like to meet some men my age or even younger -- women do live longer than men on average and I want someone who can be as active as I am for as long as we can. Have other women found this to be the case as well?

If you want a truthful answer to this question, ask a gentleman who cares to tell you his truth. But most women I interact with really just want to ask their girlfriends and essentially reinforce their own beliefs.
@@transitionshotlineI feel your frustration and understand why you want a man who sees and loves your inner spirit and not primarily the physical you. But you are being slightly unrealistic IMHO. Men are highly visual creatures- don’t blame us because we didn’t create ourselves - and even those of us who value the inner over the outer are programmed by our eyes along the lines of physical attraction. At least that’s the default setting initially. I would have suggested you put one head shot on your profile and promised more to come rather than trying to overcome male biology.

I am 57 years old. I’ve tried online dating I’m not for over 10 years. But I find that most men are lying, and the men that I find interesting end up, ghosting me. I really don’t want to date online. I don’t think that just because you don’t want to date online does it mean that you don’t really want to meet someone.

What I love is no headaches. the idea of dating gives me a panic attack. Controlling, loud, obnoxious, bossy men are huge turn off. Especially if they are under 6'2". I like gracious, polite, courteous, well-mannered, well traveled and well-behaved politically astute men, who are interesting conversationalists.

I can relate. I gave up on online dating 25 years ago, which was fun for a short while.
I found it was hard to make friends, which was probably as important or more important of a goal of mine that finding "the one" or a spouse, because I though that is too much pressure and expectations to put on the dating process. The problem was when I met someone I liked and wanted to get to know better, that happened a few times, but as soon as the woman would make a romantic connection, almost always that did not work out for her because they would jump into things too fast, that the woman would forget about me. Once that happens you know not to really trust that person or depend on them as a friend. So as it turned out it was kind of a fun diversion and a good way to waste time, it did not turn out to be workable for me. Plus at the time I was working more than full time and had other things going on. I eventually felt it was better to just leave it up to chance to meet someone or to just be alone and make the best of it. Your story is very interesting. Good luck to you.
I love your spirit!! I’m in my early 70’s. My ex had an affair and walked out. And no she was not the younger woman! It took years for me to change my mindset thinking all men were like him. They are not! I made a decision to not date widowers. I tried one and it was everything I thought it would be. All he talked about was her. I found that they can be a devil when living but become a saint when they die. He was a nice man and we had a good date but he was definitely not ready to be out in the world. I did eventually meet a man. We have been dating for over 7 years. No one says it has to be marriage. But I enjoy the company of men. Their outlook and input in life. I have many GF’s but I want to do more than just go for lunch or dinner. I want to do things. Fun things and I find women just want to stay home. Life is too short and it makes them too set in their ways. The beauty of all this is you do you.

Yes. On both sides of the aisle. I usually talk with them on the phone for at least an hour to get to know them. And the key is listening carefully to what they say in response to my questions. Too many men just blather on and on about themselves and don’t listen and ask questions or have a discussion.

You seem like a lovely lady and I am happy you have found the man you wish to be with. But I am not interested in any more relationships. I was married, produced two sons, and have three wonderful grandchildren that I see often. Im 80 now and still look decent enough for the delivery boy to hit on me 😂. But no. I’ve seen the world, written two books, gotten my commercial pilots license, and educated many, many adults into higher knowledge. I feel my work is done and I have earned my keep. I have a few interesting hobbies, I’m artistic, and most of all I enjoy my solitude. I’m not looking.
