I did it for 40 days straight as part of a meditation challenge earlier this past summer. It helped restore my memory after 14 months of crippling insomnia, intense anxiety, and major depression due to the complex grief after my dad's death from Alzheimer's. I wish he had known about the technique.
Amazing to find such detail explnantion of Kirtan Kriya! Wish there's more research on yoga and meditation, it's such powerful tools that can benefit so many people
Hi I had a very bad experience with this kriya in 2005. It seems that nobody else has ever had the same. What could have caused things to go so wrong? Has it ever happened to anyone else? It made me extremely anxious,I felt alienated and I started hearing voices when trying to concentrate, I lost my great memory for numbers and it felt as if I had suddenly lost a great part of my intelligence. But people are doing it to improve their memories. It simply doesn't make any sense to me. Please tell me what I could have done wrong?
Sounds like a dissociative experience. It's actually quite common... Did you feel restricted by the practice? Made anxious? Probably it's not for you, in that case. I used to feel like that with breathing experiences, I would panic and then squash the panic by dissociating, resulting in feelings of disconnect, and stressful thoughts and adrenaline. I much prefer things that involve repetitive body movements. A looser practice that I choose for myself. What works for each person is different, I think.
@@roopercalia thanks for your reply. Haven't tried doing it again. Doing Om jappa from Kryia Yoga recently has helped me quite a lot to get things better again.
