The large cranes make life a lot easier lifting the 3 and 4 slot cargo items. Yes the little cran can lift them, but you then have to drive around to load trailers quickly.
I beg to differ that flatbed is 1 and sideboard is 2 because when you side tip there is a possibility that you can get the items to repack in sideboard but in flatbed without a crane is impossible.
1. Heavy cranes are a good thing for 3 reasons. In Snowrunner, the heavier a vehicle is the more traction it has, so being heavy means less chance of getting stuck. The strength of a winch, and the crane, is determined by truck weight. The heavier the truck, the stronger the crane hoist. Finally, the heavier a crane truck is, the less likely it is to tip over. I love my P12 super heavy crane. That thing can hoist other full sized trucks completely off the ground without tipping over. It is superb for us Roleplayers.
The best combination is a Service Bunk on the truck (800 repair) + Maintenance trailer (2000 fuel + 350 repair) 1150 repair is more than enough to fix any broken vehicle in the game. The fuel carrier is needlessly heavy. The truck version makes your truck tippier and kills your power to weight (some trucks that already struggle as is like the P12. Well yeah, put a fuel carrier on it and try to go uphill. Good luck with that.) As for the fuel carrier trailer, that thing is a massive anchor behind you that slows you down and is difficult to pull through rough terrain. The Maintenance trailer on the other hand carries just as much fuel and is a lot easier to haul around than the fuel carrier trailer. Another thing, and this greatly affects road trains (winching together 2 trucks). Winch points on the fuel carrier trailer are HORRIBLE. It has no winch points on the rear bumper, only winch points on the sides. The maintenance trailer has much better winch points than the fuel carrier. The same fuel (2000), has a small few repair points where the fuel carrier has none at all, is lighter (or feels lighter) and IS easier to drag around and has much better winch points. The Maintenance trailer literally does everything as good or better than the fuel carrier. All you're doing with the fuel carrier is making life harder on yourself for no gain. Sure the fuel carrier on the truck and service trailer gets more repair. But nothing in the game needs 1500 repairs. 1150 between the service bunk on the truck and a maintenance trailer is plenty to complete any broken vehicle task in the game. And if the trade off is I still get the same amount of fuel, a trailer that's much easier to pull around and a trailer that has better winch points for road trains. Hell it's a no brainer, the maintenance trailer is by far the superior pick.
its actually 100% possible to complete every region without a flatbed or sideboard bed. all you need to do is skip the tutorial, by heading up to the international scout 800 then descending the mountain right behind it, get to the garage, and with the catct681 or international hx(or any dlc u have, i mentioned these cuz their free) put sadel low, and you have access to a free flatbed semi trailer, whinch it on its side or remover the cargo, then do the tutorial, rescue the gmc, then do whatever
Well thing is the F750 is already a really good truck, they don’t need it to make it better by letting you get scout trailers, especially the prototype exploration unit
Personally, I put the US small crane and low saddle at the top, they allow you to carry a lot of cargo as well as semi trailers push down on your wheels and give you more traction (by making your setup heavier)
I wish Saber would do a "addon rebalance" patch, some addons are just bad and unbalanced, some addons make you go "hmmm, why would i ever use this when i can use that and get more benefits out of it" you know, the service and support addons are not worth it sometimes,it's better off to get a fuel only addon and repair only trailer or vice versa than a combined fuel and repair addon or trailer,Saber should rebalance some of them.
The heavy cranes are really useful when you wanna do a big overloaded haul especially on the big Kenny with its super wide bed (which lets you fit so much stuff that a regular crane wont be enough to load it well).
I had to use the LNK heavy Crane because when I was in Alaska towing an oil rig trailer to north port. I hit a turn too sharp so the vehicle rolled over and I know it sounds very stupid but I spent about 15 - 20 minuets using each Crane in the game and was able to save both the truck and the trailer.
What he doesnt mention about the fuel tank and van body add-on, is that you cannot replenish the repair points in the van body add-on, but the trailer you can do, you can replenish fuel though, just sell the repair trailer buy a fuel trailer and refuel the add-on, the buy back the repair trailer and your done
Sideboard over flatbed all day. Cargo can unpack and slide off the flatbed before the engine stalls. With the sideboard, you just winch yourself upright, repack and you're good to go. No need to reload your truck with the crane. I wish we could change the color of the sideboard though.
You forgot the Heavy Lowboy Semi-trailer. Maybe because P 16 Can't hitch him. I also think Saddle high is better than some of the better stuff you say. The superheavy semi-trailer is really useful in Wisconsin, for example.
Good list, solid ranking. I was so disappointed with metal detector, had a lot of potential (perhaps realised in Expeditions) but mostly a curious timewaster in Snowrunner. Definitely needs to be able to be 'pulsed' while on the move. What you didn't mention is that for many trucks it's the _only_ addon that can be used. If it took up the same modular slot as loading crane it would not be so bad i.e. sideboard+detector, but as is, it's almost criminal. Cat745C container carrier is just a worse choice all round. They should have made it dual container. It also can't load the special heavy containers/cargo (4pt) which at least would have given it a use case in the game but as is, there's no reason to use this over any other better and more capable truck except cosplay. Would disagree on #1/#2, wouldn't sideboards be far better for overloading? In fact I note in your example you show exactly that in the crane section, then in #1 - no overloading, just packed cargo. I'd put sideboard at #1 because they're essential and drop flatbeds below cranes. I never use flatbeds except for roleplay or cosmetic reasons. I think the only mechanical advantage is they might be slightly lighter.
Im Still missing load changer addon in the game would be verry good, so that you could change addons, and load vehicles on flatbed without crane, and hot-shot trucking system with american pickups/ like gooseneck trailer system. great video 👍
11:20 while the logic here is definitely valid and by the amount of stuff you can carry this combo is better than the other way around, it should be also noted however, that carrying the fuel cistern on your truck shifts your center of mass drastically, making you truck way less stable, plus it's quite heavy. Another reason why sacrificing 200 litres of fuel for 700 repair points may not be that great of a dea isl, that 200 litres of fuel can make a huge difference in whether you'll be able to reach your destination or not, while not having 700 more repair points isn't gonna affect you that much unless you are planning to do several repair quests at once. So just another point of view that should be taken into the consideration :)
I always wanted heavy cranes to be more powerfull. Cant lift too many things that are too heavy for small cranes. And the max range is mostly useless, because the arm starts to fall down and dont have enough power to lift even planks. Other addon I have problems with are the logging cranes. In Mudrunner the logging cranes were just so perfect. The camera followed the crane, so you didnt get confused and it actually had a really powerfull working light too. The arm always grabbed the logs without any problem, the logs never glitched trough the arm, but now.....logging is my least favorite thing in the game.
2:09 I think this actually works with medium and light trucks heavy trucks dont seem to pack Still worse than just winching, it would be a different story if it were like a maintenance trailer+tow, but no
I sent a Heavy Crane truck by itself to pick up the part on the hill - it reached the airport just holding it high up in the air... Heavy cranes may be niche but they look and feel cool to use imo.
flat/side bed.. 1 and 2? no.. this is wrong use 3.8 crane and low saddle, and then get step deck trailer now you have more cargo, much harder to tip over truck, and a trailer that doesnt fold up like a metal chair when backing up... "but but then I dont have X" step deck can also overload on top of the hitch area, or pack a full scout or even scout trailer... Meaning you can get LO4F and have it set the truck back up right or use it as a fuel can with repair points.
i strongly dissagree with flatbed being better than sideboard bed for 2 reasons: 1. if u side tip there is a chance of the sideboards catching the cargo allowing u to repack it without a problem 2. the reason mentioned in this video are invalid, why? Bcz it makes no sense since the cargo doesnt need to be fully in the sideboard bed to pack it
KRS 58 bandit crane is the best small crane in my opinion. It’s the strongest most powerful crane. It might not be the biggest and you shouldn’t be on overloading cargo with the KRS anyway.
Give yourself a pure challenge, load up the 10 slot gooseneck and run over 3 maps for delivery now that's snowrunner, not a box truck 4 high, that's for songbirds......
The only damage protection mods worth having, which also make truck damage more realistic (i've driven big off road trucks, including huge ex Soviet IRL), are the GGMS sticker & Freshie mods The vanilla truck damage is PATHETIC as an off road truck, especially the big MAZ, Zil, Kamaz etc wouldn't incur damage from a pebble or pothole As for suspension & engine damage hmmm... Suspension damage is rarer than hens teeth Engine damage NOPE on Soviet trucks, the sumps are double skinned & need a wheelbarrow (or forklift truck) to move them. Plus the engines on the big flt front/cab over Soviet trucks are at least (minimum) 5 feet from the ground so HTF does a 3 foot high rock damage the engine when there is still 2 feet of fresh air between it & the engine??? = PATHETIC Out of all the Soviet/Russian trucks in SR/MR the only one i haven't driven is the 73210 , Kamaz 5 series prototype, however it is still the best off road truck in SR & it DOESN'T need active/raised suspension for anything, no trucks need active suspension & slightly only raised to fit bigger wheels
Technically yes. The 770G has a special saddle that is used for 1 or 2 contracts in Season 2 and is completely useless otherwise. Other than that no, it's just low saddle and high saddle.
I'd put them at a tie depending on your preference, the flat bed is easier to overload, the sideboard bed is better at retaining the load
I literally did this yesterday by ramming the cargo on with one truck and attaching the trailer with another
I use flatbed because it’s less ugly than the sideboard. 😂
I think that too, but I have also noticed that flatbeds are usually slightly shorter than sideboards. Makes crane/bed/trailer combo easier to use
@@jordan2735 Same lol

Eh I like the safety cages. They provide more lights around the vehicle for a lot of them.
I love how the Heavy saddle for the Cat 770G is so bad it isn't even on the list
so annoying that its only used in 1 mission
apparently the same can be said with the fork lift addon
The manipulator addon on Kirovets K700 was op for loading logs back in MudRunner, now it's only for fun
The best combination is a Service Bunk on the truck (800 repair) + Maintenance trailer (2000 fuel + 350 repair)

3:32 The Goliath achievement essentially requires you to use a heavy crane, so there's a practical use for it.
its actually 100% possible to complete every region without a flatbed or sideboard bed. all you need to do is skip the tutorial, by heading up to the international scout 800 then descending the mountain right behind it, get to the garage, and with the catct681 or international hx(or any dlc u have, i mentioned these cuz their free) put sadel low, and you have access to a free flatbed semi trailer, whinch it on its side or remover the cargo, then do the tutorial, rescue the gmc, then do whatever
I just wish we could get the switchable trailer hitch from the Burlak on the F750
Well thing is the F750 is already a really good truck, they don’t need it to make it better by letting you get scout trailers, especially the prototype exploration unit
The fuel tank is much more important if you play Hard Mode.
H3avy cranes are useful. Use them in recovery work and also to load and unload
I find them helpful tbh
Heavy crane was there for me when i messed up super heavy trailer and got it very stuck and Ank civilian too
7:58 shhhhhh they will hear you
Personally, I put the US small crane and low saddle at the top, they allow you to carry a lot of cargo as well as semi trailers push down on your wheels and give you more traction (by making your setup heavier)
Agreed!
@@NProvince Of course you would lol
Ive never understood this, wouldnt that just make the truck sink into the mud more? Thus making it easier to bottom out and get stuck?
I wish Saber would do a "addon rebalance" patch, some addons are just bad and unbalanced, some addons make you go "hmmm, why would i ever use this when i can use that and get more benefits out of it" you know, the service and support addons are not worth it sometimes,it's better off to get a fuel only addon and repair only trailer or vice versa than a combined fuel and repair addon or trailer,Saber should rebalance some of them.
Go to 11 min and 0 sec to hear him say 15000 reapair points when he meant 1500 reapair points
Fun thing about manipulator crane it's workable in mudrunner since the game used side bed as log frame
The heavy cranes are really useful when you wanna do a big overloaded haul especially on the big Kenny with its super wide bed (which lets you fit so much stuff that a regular crane wont be enough to load it well).

A medium/heavy crane is needed to achievement "Goliad"(?) and in one mission in BIG SALMON PEAK where you need to place some cargo high on a rock.
What he doesnt mention about the fuel tank and van body add-on, is that you cannot replenish the repair points in the van body add-on, but the trailer you can do, you can replenish fuel though, just sell the repair trailer buy a fuel trailer and refuel the add-on, the buy back the repair trailer and your done

yes, but sideboard looks ugly. flatbed is nicer, lol
P12 with the Multipurpose cargo module is a great scout, add the Maintenence trailer for even more fuel and repair parts for field repairs.
You forgot the Heavy Lowboy Semi-trailer. Maybe because P 16 Can't hitch him. I also think Saddle high is better than some of the better stuff you say. The superheavy semi-trailer is really useful in Wisconsin, for example.
Because any trucks pulls it
Not to mention having to stop to use the metal detector can bog you down in certain areas and then it's just recover if you are completely bogged down
ur channel is so underrated! im following.

Towing platforms are useful when you want to explore the 2 regions within michigan without a garage when you need to explore the gas station
Roof racks tend to be worse than cab or bed supplies because roof racks can make some trucks much tippier!

4:08 I use heavy cranes for every situation since it's heavy lift
I thought you need the heavy crane for the fallen titans mission in the dlc map
I don't know why I have some dlcs because I have normal edition and I haven't spent real life money on the game and I haven't downloaded mods
The version you have is probably the PREMIUM, it comes with the base game + the 1st Pass. This is my game.
flat/side bed.. 1 and 2? no.. this is wrong
use 3.8 crane and low saddle, and then get step deck trailer

please do a tier list instead of all addons and then all dlc trucks and not like video of top 15 or something. Tier list is where it's at
