An unscientific observation: I made up some silver glitter paste using Tonic Craft Glue and glitter. Beautiful results. Unfortunately, I made too much, but I figured I'd cover it for awhile and use the rest in a day or two. I mixed the paste in one of those small disposable plastic condiment containers...you know, the cheap ones. Add glue and glitter, stirred with tiny wooden stir sticks. Beautiful results, but I had leftovers. So, I covered the little container in two layers of Press'n'Seal, tightly, with the ends of the wrap twisted securely. Then I put it aside to use the next day -- and forgot it for something like 3 months! Uncovering it while searching for something else, I figured it was useless. No, it was FINE; didn't have to add any glue or water, the paste was as shiney and supple as the day I made it! Okay, I'm flummoxed. Maybe this is a one-time deal, maybe we're just not wrapping our containers tightly enough, maybe Press'n'Seal is a miracle worker. Anyway, this batch lasted me months!
A tip from mixed media arts: use Golden heavy gel matte medium. I usually mix just what I need right on my glass media mat and skip using a container. You can lay down a scoop on the mat and then add glitter, mica powders, reinkers, a swipe from an ink pad, etc.
Super idea! Here’s a tip to keep all your pastes from drying up. Take a piece of plastic wrap or Press n Seal, cut a small piece, open the top, cover the jar with the wrap and then attach the lid over the wrap. Works like a charm!
Now I’m glad that I didn’t throw out my old eye shadow. Some of the colors are best used for decorating things other than eyelids on an old gal like me. This is an idea that totally supports the idea of a handmade greeting card. Thanks very much for the simply beautiful idea.
I make this with white wood glue and it`s great and very inexpensive :) You can also make your own Nuovo Drops this way. All you need are the little bottles for that. I`ve wanted the Stick & Spray for so long but I didn`t get it anywhere. One day I just bought the cheapest hair spray and tried it out. It isn`t Stick & Spray but it works :) I love your videos. Thank you :)))
I keep a dishpan with water in it next to me (even on the floor is fine) to toss dirty stencils into. It keeps them wet and I can continue to play and wash off the stencils properly later. I saw Tim Holtz uses this method also.
That is a great idea! It would actually potentially solve my question about how to prevent all the glitter from going down the drain. You could just strain the dirty water through a fine mesh sieve, rag, or something similar, and dispose of the glitter in the garbage.
OMG, started making some of my own to try.... ended up with 10 different pastes, 12 wink of stella, 18 glitter and 6 more shimmer sprays. hehehe, boy did I have a blast doing it!!!! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Acrylic Iridescent medium is a better base than glue and can be divided into air tight containers to last a long time. Then mica powers, eye shadow, acrylic paint can be used to colour it and you have coloured shimmer paste. Or you can put a small amount in a tiny container, colour it, and use it fro your current project.
I use acrylic gloss gel to make my own pastes. You can mix watercolors as well with the gel and make kind of your own jewels drops. You can mix watercolors with glossy acryliv varnish too and make kind of a glas paint. Sadly it's not possible to post pictures here then I could show what I've done with it. 😊 If you put a piece of cling film on top of your containers and then put the lid on it'll be air tight too. I've put cling film on all of my containers withs pastes and stuff even the bought ones 'cause they aren't as air tight as they should be.
I’ve got a lot of shimmery powders for nails which can be used as well. And the pink glitter that ran issue will be because it’s not cosmetic grade and if u make sure they are cosmetic grade they won’t run. This is a fab idea love these back grounds
Beautiful stuff. I’ve tried the makeup on a lot of stuff. The sparklier the better. Dollar store makeup does work fine. Great looking cards in the end, too. You are very talented and smart too.
Oh, no! I need to do laundry tomorrow, but I have to try this! This is the thing that will get me to actually use my stencils. ( I have a similar mat that is silicone. They were about $.75 on clearance and were sold as placemats to take with you when eating out with a small child so you would be sure it was a clean surface. My grandboy had just started using a woodburner, so I gave him one to protect his desk! ( I love finding craft tools and supplies in places that are not craft stores 😁). Thank you so much 😊.
OH my word! That is genius! Of course something like that would work as well! Does it stain at all? I have to admit i do like the grid lines on mine as well. Thanks for the awesome tip! Might have a look about to see if i could find one as a spare or for my daughter to use as well so we can craft together at the same
Sasha, you need an “oops” stamp. I did a card backwards just a while ago and I finished it anyway and put my little oops stamp on the inside!!! There are places online where you can order personalized stamps very inexpensively. And, people get a kick out of it too!!! 💕🌸💕
Add the pigment powder with the glitter and it’ll be just like the Nuvo, been making my own for well over a year, I put it in an air tight container and it stays perfect. Haven’t had any dry out yet, now I don’t use straight up glue, I use a thicker stuff and the name eludes me right now, if you’re interested just comment and I’ll get you the name, it makes it so nice and way cheaper.
Ive not found a good airtight small container yet, maybe when i finish my purple nuvo one i'll save it and fill it with my own one. It was so so hot here things were drying out so fast. And yes i need to try mixing the 2 elements!

Great ideas and save money and space on supplies! Thanks. I wonder if u added some mica in color but just used an irridescent silver glitter? Then u could have color using only one large batch of glitter. Best part is glitter does not come off!
Hi Sasha, You have a done a fabulous job on all those back grounds, and that sparkle WOW, and the cards made from them are also lovely, GREAT JOB, TFS, Cheers Anna.
After I found your great video on making mica sprays, I had to find this one on making pastes. It is just as helpful, full of information & tips. I enjoy that you put a lot of effort and enthusiasm into creating your videos......thanks.
Thank you so much Sasha, I really really enjoyed watching you creating all these amazing and stunning pieces. So sparkling too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Your videos on DIY paste and shimmer pens bring me back to your channel again and again. I love these videos! I make cards and I really don't want to pay what U.S. companies charge for these products - especially since the card will probably end up in the trash within a couple of months! I am happy to craft with DIY glitter products and spend my budget elsewhere. Thanks for doing these videos.
You are so inspiring, Sasha. I love all those glue/glitter/mica powder techniques and all the backgrounds & cards you produced from them. I love them all. I especially love the blue and orange glitters.😍👍💕
I'm in the US and for the first time I was able to get the Stick and Spray here. I'm excited to try it out. Pixie Spray is too iffy for me. Sometimes it's great but other times, it tears the paper. I'm hoping for better results on my intricate stencils. OMG...I hadn't realized how old this video BUT I can totally relate to being alone. Since my husband retired, even though my children are grown, I am NEVER alone. He literally won't go away. When I'm fortunate to find myself alone, it's absolute HEAVEN!

I think this must be one of my favourite videos ever! So simple - makes you think why didn't I think of that. Incredibly cheap and easy I already have all the ingredients - now I can't wait to get going. Thank you so much

Wow!! I bought some small jars of powder eye shadow from dollar store some time ago figuring could do something with them... NOW I know and will try this. They also had "TACKY" glue ,which I love, will have to go buy a few more bottles. Love all your cards especially the black. Colors are really pretty. And I do have a bunch of glitter.. oh boy ,fun time!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I will link to this video when I try this on my channel. Your cards turned out amazing-I agree-that orange glitter stenciled card is gorgeous! 🥰
Great video!!!! I have made glitter paste out of matte medium before but haven't tried glue yet. The cards are gorgeous! Love those words and that font!
Hi Sasha, I have just found your channel! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes for pastes, can't wait to try them out. I'm also a huge fan of Limetree Crafts, I buy most of their card stock. So I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks again, Michele x
This was my favorite tutorial video you’ve done. I could have watched you make lots more but it sounds like you were melting! That orange glitter would make a beautiful sun. I have never been more excited to try all your “recipes” but I have to order glitter and mica, so it will be a while. All your cards were lovely. Be sure to post the finished ones when you get Alina’s word dies in. Hope it cools off soon for you. I’m in Florida so I’m used to it.
Awe thank you so much for your super awesome words. Really gives me a boost of confidence. Thank you for watching, and yes i will do another little video when i get my dies and finish off the rest of my cards. Itching for that order to arrive!
Beautiful. I normally scroll past videos over 30 mins. So glad I didn’t this time. This was awesome and the cards are amazing. Thank you for sharing your gift.
Yes ive been so concerned about how long they are but people have been giving me such positive feedback and encouragement. I only do long ones when there is loads of info to put out there. I try to avoid chit chat as i think people can get a bit bored and lose interest. Thank you so much for sticking around and watching my video :)
So cool! Thank you. Can’t wait to make some fun pastes! And of course, wouldn’t you know I’ve just watched three videos about how I can use metallic makeup AFTER I just donated several unused gorgeous colors of eye powders.
Sasha, I watched this yesterday, ordered Mica powders on Amazon 1 day delivery and have had soooo much fun. I used cheap modelling paste with the mica powders and loved the effect I achieved! Thanks for the inspiration. Love the idea of using up old make up - wish I'd watched sooner as I've just had a clear out!
For a fun mixed media look, after you use your glitter paste with a stencil, lightly spritz the side of the stencil with the glitter paste on it with water, and press it down onto a piece of cardstock. Lightly dab and rub with a paper towel and then lift. Very cool look.
😍😍😍 I absolutely love this. You are a genius. Thanks a mil. I'm glad I watched this video. I want to try this as I have no paste/mousse. God bless. Love from South Africa. 🤗💖
Hi Saha, this is a great video you have made, thank you for doing it. I think the shops will be low on glue stocks once everyone watches this video. The results are amazing, there was not a bad one amongst all of them, keep the long videos coming!! Your ideas are great, take care Regards
Thank you so much for your awesome words of encouragement! Really means a lot to me. I had such a blast with this tutorial. I was worried though as it's quite long but ive had such an amazing positive response to it. It's been really lovely
Thank you Sasha! This is awesome!! Have you tried using the press n seal under the top of the bottle to store the paste a bit longer? Funny, it’s about 35 degrees Fahrenheit where I am today!! But still very dry in Colorado! Your ideas are great! Your presentation great! Must watch more. Am going to move house and massively downsize so making as-you-use-them products may help with the reduced storage space! Thank you for reminding us to use reusable cleaning cloths!! Loved everything about this video!💕
Great video! I'm looking forward to making some glitter pastes...up until now I've been a glitter-free household. I couldn't be doing with the mess. I have used the IZINK glitter paint and that stuff is AMAZZING because it doesn't go anywhere you don't want it to. But the idea of making my own with the colors I want makes me want to start buying glue and glitter. I already have a set of 24 mica colors so I'm all set with them. So I'm DOOMED! Loved your tutorial, I'm going to go watch the rest of them now. Keep up the great video. Many UA-cam videos are hard to watch because of bad videography, audio, or the person just "emmm" and "errrrs" throughout the video, or just can't string together a sentence that makes sense. You suffer from none of these...so keep making vidoes!
I hear you talking about the problems of 30 degree weather, which is about 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Well, here in Texas, we call that kind of weather, “Autumn.” A couple of years ago, Dallas had a streak of 100 days over 100 degrees. That would be about 38 degrees Celsius or hotter. That particular year, I was driving a dark purple van with a charcoal interior … and no air conditioning! Many, many plastic ice containers were placed in strategic locations around me so I could travel from client to client. I will admit, having spent a summer in London as a University exchange student, that the heat can be oppressive at a lower temperature there because of the humidity, but Texas heat really does beat all! Thanks for a great video!
An unscientific observation: I made up some silver glitter paste using Tonic Craft Glue and glitter. Beautiful results. Great video!!!! I have made glitter paste out of matte medium before but haven't tried glue yet. The cards are gorgeous! Love those words and that font!
Thank you so much :)
love watching you Sasha
Thank you :)
Thank You so much, I will try this. Your cards came out Beautiful. Nice to learn something to save money. Card making can be expensive but I enjoy it.
Yes it can get really costly. I couldnt believe how simple it could be to make up a past and how effective it is
Hi Sasha, I have just found your channel! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes for pastes, can't wait to try them out. I'm also a huge fan of Limetree Crafts, I buy most of their card stock. So I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks again, Michele x
Thank you so much for leaving me a lovely comment Michele. And yes Limtree are fantastic!
I use gloss gel medium for the base. Works great. And it doesn’t dry as quickly as glue!
What an amazing idea 💡 thank you so much for sharing this.😊
Great ideas, fabulous results! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching
Awesome, thank you for sharing your video. Love 💕 all your card making.❤️
Thank you mom :)
Definitely going to try this! Thanks for the great idea!
Brilliant, you wont be disappointed! Was loads of fun
Eureka!! Thanks for sharing this recipe/technique Sasha!! The results are shockingly beautiful. I am going to go nuts making pastes now! 😀
ha ha thank you so much :) I had so much fun with this
Awesome video. Great instructions and examples. Thank you!!!
Thank you so much :)
Thank you for sharing this! Can’t wait to make some and play!

What a money saver with great results!
Thank you :)
Oh, wow. This is so cool. Thank you. Blessings!
This is an awesome idea. I will most definitely try this. I have a few bottles of tacky glue and glitter.
So cool! Thank you. Can’t wait to make some fun pastes!
And of course, wouldn’t you know I’ve just watched three videos about how I can use metallic makeup AFTER I just donated several unused gorgeous colors of eye powders.
These are all so beautiful and I love long video's 😊
Thank you for the encouragement :)
Thank you soooo much for mentioning Every Craft a Pound. It’s amazing I’ve just placed my 1st order xx
😍😍😍 I absolutely love this. You are a genius. Thanks a mil. I'm glad I watched this video. I want to try this as I have no paste/mousse. God bless. Love from South Africa. 🤗💖
Brilliant idea. Definitely want to try this. Gorgeous ❤️
Thank you Susan
Love , love, love your cards.
Thank you Maria, so kind :)
Gorgeous! I’m giving it a go in Texas!
Hi Saha, this is a great video you have made, thank you for doing it. I think the shops will be low on glue stocks once everyone watches this video. The results are amazing, there was not a bad one amongst all of them, keep the long videos coming!! Your ideas are great, take care
Regards
Thank you so much for your awesome words of encouragement! Really means a lot to me. I had such a blast with this tutorial. I was worried though as it's quite long but ive had such an amazing positive response to it. It's been really lovely
Fabulous cards.
Great way to use glitter!!!
Thanks for another great tutorial!!!
Thank you so much for watching :)
This looks like fun to give it a try!
Sasha, what a fabulous video. Thanks so much. 😊
Lovely card again.
To the scraping rom ❤❤❤
Amazing video! Thank you!
