Which one are you most excited to try? What would you use the weird green one for? lol 🤣💗 FYI: For the satin mixture use a 50/50 combo of both the matte and the gloss mediums I showed you 😉
The green would be great for witch's skin, monsters, cauldron contents, but also grass because grass is various shades of green or also when you do a beach scene and there is grass mixed in with the sand. I'm really excited to try my mica powders in this technique, but also all the other ideas too.
Amazing video! Thank you so much for sharing this wealth of information. I’m currently unable to work due to health issues, so my crafting budget is non existent these days. Being able to make my own mediums out of supplies I’ve already purchased &/or things from the kitchen is really fantastic! Even when I’m working full time and making good money…I’m a frugal, thrifty person who’s always trying to save money in various ways. For me, being able to make my own gesso, texture paste, sprays, or create “dupes” of products I’ve been wanting to try out allows me to spend more money on supplies that aren’t going to expire, run out, and need to be purchased again. Purchasing those products (ie stamps, dies, embossing folders, stencils, paint brushes etc) are investments in the fact that I can reuse them over & over again and they’ll last me forever or at the very least several years as long I take care of them properly. All that to say that I GREATLY APPRECIATE creators like yourself who experiment and share their results, offering cost effective alternative solutions instead of trying to push us to buy products. This is the first video I’ve ever watched of yours, and although I’m not a card maker or scrapbooker, I am a paper crafter so I’ll be checking out your other videos as well! ❤
I look forward to more feedback from you. You'll find that I make a lot of my own supplies. Saving money is the name of the game 💗 Take Care my new Inkie Friend!
I am so grateful for dupes or hacks or tips to stretch the crafty budget. The craft would be out of reach for me otherwise, but I love card making so much. The best part is making someone’s day with your creation. Thank you for your hard work; you have mad skills!
You can absolutely still use nuvo mousses if they dry up. Simply grind them up and add distilled water and glycerin gradually, voila. Tonic realized the lid inserts were absorbing moisture and replaced them with foam. Like SU they match their cardstock and inks so if you use their products it's nice having continuity. I've had all mine over 5 years, still using them!
This is my first visit to you channel and I lack the words to adequately express my delight in the content and your excellent production. I have used the Liquitex mediums for these very uses, as well as adding glitter for glitter paste. The gel mediums work great as a substitute for foil transfer gel. Another interesting use I've done is to use a transparent spray such as Krylon to seal an inkjet print, then use the heavy gloss gel to make brush strokes over the print, leaving it to look (somewhat) like an oil painted picture. Well, not really, but reminiscent of that look. A few years back I made a bunch of cards with sunset/ocean scenes and did the brush strokes and they looked great (or so I thought). Anyway, I've subscribed to your channel and am again thinking of using those gallon tubs of all the varieties of Liquitex mediums I purchased. Thank you so very much. And BTW, I am in Texas (East Texas about an hour east of Dallas) and we do have 'butter spreading days; which are great for pancakes and biscuits but in the summer we have 'butter melting days.' Hugs. Diane
Thank you so much. I have been refusing to buy all the latest and greatest crafting products. If I can make my own paste with a reasonably priced product and the inks I currently own I will definitely jump into glazes and pastes.
I am so glad that you are still among those that share their talents. I have see this video before however that doesn't matter much . I will offen watch your videos more then once. You are so good thank you
I have mica powders from when I was trying to color my home made cold pressed soaps. I wasn't good at it, and decided that if I was using a wonderful natural soap the natural color worked. We won't discuss the fact that I add scent. My gloss gel medium is thick. Its not labeled thick, but it is. I tried this tonight, and I am REALLY happy with it. I am not a glitter person, but iridescent glitter is now tempting. I gave away the glitter I had. If I buy glitter, it will probably only be iridescent.
So much great money and space saving tips and info! Just opened the glitz glitter gel I bought 10 months ago, wrapped with press and seal under the cap, and it has hardened.
This video is awesome, thank you for sharing and inspiring. I've recently retired and need to watch the budget and can't wait to start playing with your ideas. The green colour you don't like, I love and would use it on fairy and Dragon wings or shooting stars. I'm about to start following your channel. Thanks again.
I’m so excited about a new hack! Especially when I have all that right in my craft room! I am so tired of throwing out dry store bought ones for $10+ dollars! Thanks for sharing and doing all the hard work!
Ty! For doing all the testing for us. Saved me some $$$. And lots of time. Also, you can find those size spoons in a resin-making kit. Or buy them by themselves.
I LOVE these videos. I'm so disappointed with how expensive some of the craft stuff is, especially when you realize that you can make/buy the same thing (with a different name) for a lot less. I bought a tiny jar of matte medium before I realized I could get the same thing from an art company, in a much bigger container, for the same or less money. Thank you so much! I'm loving the new direction of your channel.
I love making my own concoctions. So glad I found your channel. The mica powders will do double duty for me. I see they work in slime and my granddaughter is a slim fiend.
This is stellar! I make furniture that I then paint. I experimented with the ink only on a gourd to see what I could do with it for accenting, but there was no controlling it. I will be making some butters with both ink and some oxides I have left from making soap (no, I don't do that to my soap any more), and I think this is going to work beautifully for me without me spending a fortune on Dixie Belles accenting butter. I'm so HAPPY to be here! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I keep seeing chocolate pudding. About 18 years ago, I enjoyed browsing through Dick Blick and bought some of the Golden Gels because they had some samples on display. I loved how the texture Gels looked. I NEVER used any of the Gels after I made my purchase. No one was using gels, at that time, on their cards. Watching your video will encourage me to start experimenting.
Put the old piece's in a spray jar with water and it sprays out. It does not totally dissolve thou but at least there a lil use of it if it stays up . Thanks for your video I definitely like making products as well sometimes it's The fun part of the craft .
Can’t wait to look thru my supplies and see what I already have ! I do love Simon Harley’s lunar pastes but will be nice to have access to all of those colors! thanks for all your investigating!!!
I absolutely love your sense of humor. Finally in this ultra political world, somebody who is funny and not afraid to laugh or to make people laugh. I love the funny out takes you put in mashed potatoes and Judge Judy eye rolls. Great! Been doing my own butters for years. You can buy spackle and gels in tubs at your hardware stores that makes what you are doing even more cheaper. You done good girl.
I did have the idea to do just what you did suggest with my paste n color inks Atwell as doing the same as me thing with the embossing powders. I did but new products a few weeks ago and then g a very not been able to get back to my craft room. I will get to things asap. Thank you for your testing sight and dedication
I am brand new to all this , but love all these ideas. I received a Cricut Air 2 and want to learn embossing, wild colors etc. to pop up my paper flowers and mini houses. Love learning from you.
I have a Cricut how to make your own stencils coming up and a Master Class next month using them (or any other stencils) with all the pastes from this video and more (blending and such...)😁💗
So if I understand this correctly, you used the artist supply mediums and added from your own stash to create the colors and finishes that are created by the store bought things.
What a coincidence! I was just looking at my texture pastes yesterday and I had already thrown out one of them and I had to throw out another after I tried to reconstitute it…but I could see it just wasn’t gonna work. The manufacturers of these products should really look at how long the shelf life really is, especially after you open them. I mean if they’re gonna dry up within a year and they are still under that sealed paper then you know they’re just not made to last very long and we’re losing a lot of product. So I’m anxious to hear your solution. 👍
Thanks for sharing great video!!! My experience with stencil butter is that I never opened some colors and 6 month’s latter they were completely dry. I will definitely try this option
You are so awesome thank you for doing this special with the mica’s because if you are on a budget and I’m and every penny count so thank you for doing this
Obviously, I better check out all my mediums NOW. I have a few unopened ones and will be a very unhappy camper if they're garbage before I even use them. Thanks for these recipes. I do enjoy coloring my confetti to match my cards.
Hi first and foremost I love your videos. Now a guestion for you did. I get that right you used either the golden Matt medium or the liqitex and that’s it. I saw what you added-glitter ink etc. That is all no secret ingredients? You just made my day if that is all, because I got both on Amazon Germany. that’s where I live, and I have problems getting a lot of products. Keep up the great work, because you teach very well. Best Regards from the North Sea
I am on a craft spending freeze, but I have gloss gel medium, matte medium, and a different brand of acrylic iridescent medium. I will be playing. Thank you!! I've been looking forward to this video. I've avoided buying the non dupes because I kept seeing videos where people complained about them drying out.
You can use the Gloss Gel Medium, I have it. It's thinner, but can certainly work too. I just tested until I found some that were the same consistency as the brand counterparts. As the closer I can come the less people yell at me 🤣🤣💗
@@_MyInkieFingers Thanks again!! I suspected it would be thinner, but if I collect too many mediums, they dry out before I can finish them. You know how I know. It makes me sad that people yell at you. I've mixed mica powders into gloss medium, but never reinkers. I LOVE pan pastels, but I HATE that the pigment rubs off onto everything. I've tried hairspray and sealant. I didn't get great results from either. A thin, very thin, coat of either gloss or matte medium on a gel plate solves the issue. Put the cardfront down and its sealed.
@@_MyInkieFingers My spending freeze went out the window! I bought a back up tub of the gloss gel that I really love. Today I made a little jar of gloss gel with some gorgeous green glitter embossing powder. I don't like using the glitter embossing powders. I'm not good with them. Holy cow is this pretty!!!!!!!!!
Those is freaking awesome ! I didn't fall into buying a tone of the paste because I was afraid theyd go bad. Knowing I wouldn't use them alot! This was the video I've been waiting for😄 Thanks Love!
Shut the front door...these products are amazing. I have bought so many butters and mousse that were dried out when I opened them the first time. I am so excited to try these. I ordered the Golden Matte and Gloss from Dick Blick because they were much cheaper than Amazon even by paying the postage. The Mica powders did order from Amazon. I already had the Liquitex so I can start playing tomorrow. I think I am most excited about the recipe using the mica. Thank you so very much for sharing these recipes with us. You are truly awesome. I want to try using Distress Embossing Glaze and see what happens. Have a great week.
Ohh wait til you see the dupe I have for the glaze and the things you can make! WOW, just WOW. Hold on to your seat Pamela! Or better yet, grab a chair and sit beside me at the meeting (I know you know what I mean 🤣🤣) Enjoy playing 😊💗💗
The dried up pastes can be reliquified. I usually use Golden GAC100 or Liquitex palette wetting spray, most of the gel mediums will also work. Basically the new acrylic liquid will soften any acrylic film dried up in a jar or on the pallette. It takes a lot more stirring or wait overnight than mixing up the fresh gel and powder but if you have dried up jars, they can technically still be used instead of tossed.
As much as I appreciate that Diana, it does compromise the integrity of the medium and for me, I'm waaaay to lazy and have no time for that.🤣🤣 When I wanna stencil butter something I wanna stencil butter it now baby! lmao (not to mention I think my money should get me something that doesn't dry up so fast) However, I'm glad you found something that you feel works for you. That's all that matters boo 😊💗💗
@@_MyInkieFingers Yep! I never bought into the millions of cute little jars at astronomical prices. Always just used gel mediums and paint, mica or sand or whatever. I hate the way craft companies exploit the crafter full set syndrome. Most things they release lately are just smaller quantities of regular art products in poorly sealed jars. Thanks for sharing the your techniques and product lists. :)
Ok I bit the bullet and ordered both lol went back and forth about buying the premade stuff lol after watching your video a couple of times I had no doubt that yours is the way to go! By the way I have been binge watching your videos!
I sub'd a month ago and WOW! You are just amazing Cindy-Lynn 🧡. Thanks so much for this. I was about to break down and buy 2 sets of stencil butters. But space and $ are precious, and having dried up products just sucks. I'm grateful to you for all the work you have done on the dupes and for sharing them.
Wonderful recipes, thank you so much for trying these out. I got the mediums and I am going to enjoy playing. I do have a question, I have been curious about the DIY Distress pastes and the glaze you mentioned. I can not find that tutorial. Can you perhaps send a link? I did find the DIY spray video (also amazing info!!) Thanks 👍👍👍
I Am brand new with all the stuff. I have a new cricket explorer two that I am learning and I want to learn all these tricks that you are using to improve on my paper flowers, mini houses, and any other stuff I might be making. How do I sign up for the Masterclass? I’m so glad I found your site last week as boy oh boy are you a good teacher.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great info 👍 thanks so much!. I'm going to check out your take on the distress glaze too. I've actually been using my gel mediums for lots of purposes and it makes great snow ❄
What an interesting and fun technique. I'm just amazed. I had a lot of the Nouveau paste they were horrible! They dried out out and turn into clay. Another one I hate is Cosmic Shimmer paste they don't stand behind their products!!!
Wow, I'm so glad I found your channel tonight. This is awesome and such a money saver and let's face it, we all need to find ways to save these days. I can't wait to go try your ideas!!
Love this!! I wonder what would happen if you would heat up the one with the embossing powder. I'm gonna have to do these. Fantastic!! Do you know if we can mix these and they will keep the long shelf life like the original gels before they were mixed? Thanks so much for sharing!!! Happy Creating!!!!
Thank you for this. As I’m watching this I really wanted the vintage collage medium and I can’t find it and I don’t think it’s on the market any longer. Luckily, I found you! Somehow I missed, or can’t find the part for what you used for the coloring for the vintage medium. Can anyone help me out? Much appreciated! I’m guessing vintage photo reinker?
Isn’t it annoying how as soon as a crafting technique gets popular, the price of the supplies jumps up !!! I absolutely love this as I’ve seen diy recipes for embossing paste but I was not impressed. The price of these base products makes it really economical to purchase them and then go from there. You proved the possibilities are endless. I wonder how perfect pearls would work with this ?? Great discovery, thanks for the tip !!
Can you believe, I went to see what videos I’ve missed and saw that I was “unsubscribed!!!!!!!” Ugh 😩 I don’t understand why UA-cam does this💔!!! I fixed it but it shouldn’t happen EVER.
Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for. The same happened to me, I was really angry since I bought it from another country and it was a famous trade, taxes was added to the already high price!!!
Wow. If there were extra thumbs up, I’d give them to you…. Have never used these-they haven’t been in my budget…. Until now…. You’ve made me another happy Canadian! 🇨🇦
Your extra thumbs up is watching the video to the end and commenting. I appreciate it very much Pam. It helps my channel more than you might realize. 💗💗😊
My pleasure! I love saving money and finding great dupes that are easy to work with (no mixing ingredients to create he pastes) so we can spend more time crafting 💗😊
Thank you so much Cindy!!!!!! I am on a fixed budget (yes, I am old) and your video is amazing! I have a recipe for homemade gesso, would this work for the medium? Or I will just wait till you show us how to make our own. I love you girl!
I have dyed matte medium with acrylic paint before, as well as the reinkers. I would like to try crushing up old eyeshadow to use in place of the mica powder just to see how it comes out. I would also like to get the texture of the Nuvo pastes, that solid whipped consistency. Have you done any research on that? Love these types of videos.
You can certainly use paint, just remember the 10% ratio. Which gets tricky with such a small amount so I chose to omit it to prevent mixing failures or confusion. The Extra Heavy will give you the closest texture to the Nuvo pastes. Thick whipped consistency. Without mixing more things together that's as thick as you will get 😉😁💗
Hi! I'm so excited that I found your channel by mistake! It was meant to be.😊 I've been a card maker and crafter for many yrs but just now getting into the pastes, etc... I love making my own supplies because it gives me extra money to buy other things and making a dupe works just as well 95% of the time, at least in my experience. Thank you very much for sharing. I'll be watching several of your videos this afternoon. I subscribed and of course gave a thumps up! Thank you!
I'm so excited! I gotta pick up all of this stuff! But I wonder..... hmmm.... what happens if you try putting a heat gun to the embossing powder one.... will it still activate and melt after drying in the medium? Hmmmm
You can buy tiny spoons with measurements for them, I think the smallest is 1/16 of a teaspoon for cheese making. I bought them to use for my powdered dies. They help you replicate 'formulas' that you like. Blessings!
Which one are you most excited to try? What would you use the weird green one for? lol 🤣💗 FYI: For the satin mixture use a 50/50 combo of both the matte and the gloss mediums I showed you 😉
I can see the green being great for the contents of a witch's cauldron or something of that nature for Halloween.
@@VeehattInspired ohhh yes! I love it! ❤️💗❤️

I do love your hacks and thank you for the information, saved me from the poor house with all those pastes out there for big moneys.
Those sticks are on amazon i just purchased them they are called snuff spoons. I use with mica and pigment powder.
How do I make it more vibrant like the Lunar Paste I buy all the time ? So happy I found you ! Plz help -
I am on a craft spending freeze, but I have gloss gel medium, matte medium, and a different brand of acrylic iridescent medium.
@@jesseb5112 You're too cute 😁💗
Those is freaking awesome ! I didn't fall into buying a tone of the paste because I was afraid theyd go bad. Knowing I wouldn't use them alot! This was the video I've been waiting for😄
Thanks Love!
So glad I could help you Brandi 💗😊
What a value filled video. Thank you
Glad it was helpful 😊💗
Soooo, I have a lot of acrylic inks that I have been wanting to experiment with. Now, you've encouraged me to do it! Thank you.
Ok I bit the bullet and ordered both lol went back and forth about buying the premade stuff lol after watching your video a couple of times I had no doubt that yours is the way to go! By the way I have been binge watching your videos!
So glad this helped! 😊❤️
Perfect timing wasn't it?! I'm happy to have helped out Briana 😊💗
I prefer everything in matte... Im not a glossy Lady 😂 TFS, im very excited to try some with the Oxide re-inker, I have plenty of them.❤
So much info..have to watch multiple times.. great. Thanks
I haven't filmed it yet. Guess I'm a bit behind! 🤣🤣
Hi Rosemarie! Welcome to my channel. I would love for you to join the channel and attend the Master Classes. You can join here: bit.ly/MIFJoinUA-cam To attend the Maser classes you would have to select the "Inkie Bestie" option which gets you 4 exclusive private events. You can see all the events that are included here: bit.ly/MIFInkSquad 😊💗
I guessed the middle one as the holtz and I have barely had time to use any of my art supplies. Go, good eyes!
Wow, I'm so glad I found your channel tonight. This is awesome and such a money saver and let's face it, we all need to find ways to save these days. I can't wait to go try your ideas!!
U got that right honey. I'm thankful you stopped by 😊💗
Wonderful ideas! Thank you for showing how to make these.
You are so welcome! 😊💗
Love this!! I wonder what would happen if you would heat up the one with the embossing powder. I'm gonna have to do these. Fantastic!! Do you know if we can mix these and they will keep the long shelf life like the original gels before they were mixed? Thanks so much for sharing!!! Happy Creating!!!!
Love that you showed us your recipes and I will give it a go.
Have fun playing 😁💗
@@_MyInkieFingers are you on tonight and where is the link please
@@_MyInkieFingers I cannot find you so sorry
@@carollewallingford9716 No honey. Live videos are on Thursdays 😊😊💗💗
Wow! Great info, thanks for sharing! I liked all of your examples but I prefer the combo of each medium. 💕
I prefer the 50/50 combo too. It's got such a nice finish 😁💗
You did a fantastic video, Cindy-Lynn! I’m going to have to try these. Thanks so much.
Thanks so much Sharon, I'm happy you thought so 😊💗
Love all videos, I'm glad you talked me into these paste 🙃🤑😉😉 I will need to add to my supplies 🤷♀️👍
Lol "Glad you talked me into the paste" she says... Like that's a difficult thing to do?!? lmao 🤣🤣
It has been discontinued. I did show how to make it though. I'm sure you will find it if you have another look 😋💗
Hi there. Thank you for sharing. Do you have a dupe for embossing powder?
I wonder what would happen if you heated the embossing powder one?
No I don't. It's basically a ground resin. I have no idea how to make it. Sorry. 🤔
Honey I have an embossing paste coming that you will LOVE. PROMISE! And Perfect pearls, while expensive in this medium, would work just fine 😉💗😁
Can you use brusho? Love your video, saved me a lot of money, Thank you from Maxie in England.
I've checked into brusho but I don't own any. I don't see why you couldn't use it. Other than it's an expensive alternative to mica 😉💗
Love the DIY’s, they are brilliant. Thank you for your creative innovation.❤️❤️
I'm happy you enjoyed the ideas dayleigh 😊💗
Loved this video, thank you. 👍🏼
Love this!!!! So exciting and I’m grateful to you for this dupe! Girl, you are as FAMOUS as I knew you would be! Go, Cindy-Lynn, Go!!!! 🙌🏼🥰👍🏼❤️😁
Haha noooo not famous. I'm still humble me, thankful for wonderful you 😊❤️💗😁
Can you believe, I went to see what videos I’ve missed and saw that I was “unsubscribed!!!!!!!” Ugh 😩 I don’t understand why UA-cam does this💔!!! I fixed it but it shouldn’t happen EVER.
@@created2bless322 OH EM GEE!! How RUDE!! lol I'm glad you're back on the cool kids list 🤣😁💗

Cindy Lynn- YOU ARE JUST AWESOME! Thank you for that info!
No Deborah, YOU'RE Awesome 🤣🤣 (Thank You 💗😊)
Woo-hoo! I actually have all these ingredients!!!! Thanks for the recipes!
Whoo Hoo!! That's awesome sauce! Or awesome paste I suppose! haha 🤣💗
Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for.
The same happened to me, I was really angry since I bought it from another country and it was a famous trade, taxes was added to the already high price!!!
Oh my goodness!! I can’t wait to try this!! Thank you for sharing!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
You're so very welcome 😁😁
These are great! Thanks for doing all the legwork for us!
Hi Janet, unfortunately Gesso is far too loose. So sorry. 💗
Thank You! So glad I found your channel.
I put ink pads n pastes in air tight containers... TSMFS❤
Without mixing more things together that's as thick as you will get 😉😁💗
I noticed that Liquitex also makes a glass bead medium…I wonder what wonderful effects that would create
Stay tuned my friend... stay tuned lol xo 💗
Thank you!
You are on fire Girl!!! Thanks for this♥️
You're so welcome Jan 😁💗
Thank you so much, your saving me a lot of $.
Love them all ❤️. Good investigative creations and developments!!
I'm happy you like them all ❤️😊
Once again....genius at work!!! Love it and so reasonable. Keep it up our mad little scientist!
Tee Hee I'm blushing. Thanks Miss Pami 😊💗😊
@@_MyInkieFingers no need to blush...I'm not known for false flattery...I call them like I see them
I'm so excited! I gotta pick up all of this stuff! But I wonder..... hmmm.... what happens if you try putting a heat gun to the embossing powder one.... will it still activate and melt after drying in the medium? Hmmmm
Haha I don't think that's a good idea 🤣🤣💗 (Not to mention I'm not sure why you wouldn't want the gritty sand texture 😉😁)
This is great!!! THANK YOU
Where did you purchase your spatulas? Do you have a link so you make a few pennies when I purchase. Thank you again for the amazing ideas.
I got them at my local art store 😁💗
You can buy tiny spoons with measurements for them, I think the smallest is 1/16 of a teaspoon for cheese making. I bought them to use for my powdered dies. They help you replicate 'formulas' that you like. Blessings!
That's so awesome. Thanks for sharing Christine 😁💗
