Fun video!
Glad it's okay, gotta love Jaguar!
Guys I love Jag very much since I was young, pliz give me one I'm Langa in Zimbabwe,I really love XJ6 series 1, mwaah what an all time classic beauty💯
I really like this colour and the contrast with the roof is really striking too. Glad you caught the fire before it got out of hand!
Is this Scott?

Looks so much better with the Kent alloys. Lucky escape with the fire under the bonnet.
I have a 1969 XJ (4.2). On mine the AED was replaced by a previous owner with a manually operated, electric choke that works very well. There's a switch under the dash that opens and closes it, so I can switch to 'lean' as soon as the engine warms up a bit and can hold revs. No fires so far, but I will now invest in a fire extinguisher, in case. Nice video - thanks!
My old series 1 sprint car had the same installation, worked well, and was simple!
I always recommend Furniture Clinics products on my Jaguar FaceBook groups especially for newcomers as they have some really great how to videos. Enjoying the visits to your fleet. Many thanks Malcolm
They said 4 days work. .....hhhmmmm.
That S1 has potential if you put money into it. Love the Kent's

Good work, enjoyed the update. Glad the fire was stopped quickly.
Good save Brett.. gets the blood pumping.. had a small fire in Satins shed, a fortnight ago, no damage but had me hopping about.
Sure did have the blood pumping😩
The AED on our early S2 played up from the day we bought the car. My husband asked the dealer to fit a manual choke conversion but the dealer fitted a brand new AED that performed worse than the old one. The dealer finally fitted a manual choke conversion & we never had any trouble with the car during our 30 plus years of ownership. The AED on our Mk V & Mk2 have cut out switches as they otherwise tend to stay on for too long.
Yes going to put a manual switch on this one. Thanks Joanne
😳😱terrifying! Good job for keeping an extinguisher near.
Hi Brett, good to see you again in '23. Close shave with the fire! The device on your XJ6 S1 carbs is called the starting carburetter. . That starting carburetter dates back to the original XK motor in 1950, and was on all XK engines up till the XJ6.
The later device, the AED, is much larger and is a big square block of metal with a big black cover The AED was supposed to be an improvement, but was just more complicated. Those carbs must be from an earlier car. If you look on the carbs which you took off the car you will see the difference.
Hi Pete I still call it an aed same same but thanks for the correction. The carbs are HD8 which are standard on and S1. HS8 were standard on an S2 with the larger AED. Only ever seen the bigger AED on s2's. The old carbs were the same.
Thhks fir your support TJM
Jags and GSs. I guess there’s a few of us around that have both. Mines an 1150 GS so a bit long in the tooth but a great bike. Love to see some video of your riding trips too Brett.
Thanks Greg, love my GS
Hard for me to think that yellow is factory. Would've looked great on an XJS or E-Type but looks ghastly on an XJ in my opinion. Enjoyable video, thanks Sir. Greetings from Thailand.
Cotswold yellow is factory. Not my preference but can't change it!
It was standard on S2's but not sure on S1's
Primrose Yellow was a standard Jaguar colour.
I'm realising now that Jaguar did a whole range of yellows, mainly or exclusively back in the '70s and '80s? 20 years ago I had a Series 2 in, I think, Primrose Yellow. Recently I saw a yellow Series 3 for sale that was described as 'gold'.Now there's your Cotswold Yellow. I'm sure there are others. There must be subtle differences between them. All very appealing, anyway. Thanks for the vid. Very enjoyable as ever, loved seeing the test drive on the country road up and behind your premises. From the heights I glimpsed the bay below on the left, looked tantalisingly attractive, was glad to see it properly when you drove right along the flat straight beside it. Sorry about the fire, thank goodness you were able to control it quickly. Freezing fog all day here in my part of Pomland.
Really not sure if Cotswold yellow was an S1 colour. I know it was available on s2's though
Nice to see you back bret, you have a pretty good life don't you fella 🤣,off on adventures with the family on the motorbike and the cars you have bloody fantastic bud, and the wheels look a lot better on the yellow jag thanks for the entertainment look forward to next one take care, and selling Mr white it looks like a great car but for me ive Never liked that model and here in the UK they were mostly full of rust, keep having fun
Thanks 👍Kevin
Hopefully you got all of your cock-ups done in one video !
The Series 1 is nice as a presentable usable enjoyable classic, I don't think it justifies a colour change just a refinish in the yellow and a black vinyl roof and Kent alloys or S1 / S2 steels and hubcaps. The interior colour would suit a period pastel colour repaint however.
is that greg lynn at the end? strewth looks like him
Nah! Scott who bought my x350
like that yellow. Wanna swap?
With?
Just bought an older resto British racing green from pendant hills you probably know it
