    We are back on the Isky T! It's time to finish this series out and it only ramps up in craziness from here. I know you guys have seen the final product, but hopefully that makes seeing the process of building it even better. In this episode DT takes 2 1932 Grill Shells from Speedway Motors and chops them up to make one shell - very similar to what was on the original car. He then makes a custom grill insert. I think you guys will enjoy this one!

    Just watching Dennis work and to be able to have the clear vision of what he wants to see, and then make it so, is just mind blowing to me. Such a gift to have him allow to be filmed, and let us look over the shoulder of a master at work.

    I'm 72 and turned wrenches for about 60 if those years. But I always jumped first towards new tech, the Bleeding Edge. I can clearly see that 3 simple 3d printed spacer bar could clip onto the radiator shell so you could have simply snapped all bars in place and later weld on the bench. ❤
    Almost forgot to heap High Praises on your Old School skills. Beautiful work.

      @DodgyBrothersEngineering 2 місяці тому

      Great idea. Only potential issue is that I find when I do this kind of thing is that when you try to do too much at once things generally go pear shaped. I think he was leaving the shell bolted to the car because he was worried about it pulling out of shape, so adding one bar at a time, while painful, was the easiest way to prevent it getting out of shape. When he had enough bars in he might have been able to use a more generic holder.

    I love listening to people like your dad work.
    Most folks would think that they are daft, not knowing up from down. Those folks would be missing the best part of the experience.
    Because your dad thinks out loud folks could assume that he doesn't know what he's doing. If they would listen closely though, then they could hear they countless hours of experience rolling around in their mind as they build and rebuild the car in their mind a hundred different ways always pursuing the look, the balance, the performance that they know is tucked away in the cold hard metal.
    We are only hearing a few words get out, while in their minds there are ten thousand ways to get there rattling around in their minds.
    Gene Winfield. Ian Rousel. Chip. Your dad. These are Titans in the automotive world who individually are wonders. Imagine standing next to them, learning as they share their knowledge, understanding and talents with us who are best served to be mere sponges soaking up an art form that is getting more rare with each day.
    I have had the pleasure of spending time with giants in other fields such as gardening, painting, construction, fishing and hunting to name a few.
    One thing is true with each and every one of them. Their speech patterns, the speed of movement, and that far away look about them only hints at the amount of experience on the scale of the Library of Alexandria.
    I have named men, but that in no way means that I have any less respect for women whom I also could have named. They too are treasures.
    Slow in speech, and measured in action your father is a marvel to me. Traits that I cherish.
    They have no need to prove who they are. They simply are.
