Hello everyone, I hope you are well.
Today we are going to see how to create a realistic ocean with foam.
We will use 3dsmax , vray and phoenix material with displacement to create the Ocean and HDRI for the lighting.
Moving forward, I guide you through the creation of the ocean texture. Utilizing the material editor, I develop a water material that features a black diffuse color, with reflectivity and refraction dialed up to full and white, respectively. This sets the stage for our realistic water surface. To add depth and movement to the water, I apply a V-Ray displacement modifier with a value of 24, beginning our journey towards a dynamic ocean simulation.
The realism of our ocean takes a significant leap forward as I introduce Phoenix FD into the mix. By applying an ocean texture from Phoenix FD to our water material, we start to see a true-to-life ocean appearance emerge. I meticulously adjust parameters within Phoenix FD, such as wind speed, wave velocity, level of detail, foam weight, vertical offset, sharpness, and velocity currents, to tailor the ocean's behavior to our liking, ensuring it mirrors the complexity and beauty of the real thing.
To enhance the realism even further, I focus on adding foam to the ocean surface. I show you how to create a V-Ray blend material designed specifically for the foam detailing on the ocean's surface. Before adding the foam details, I adjust the color properties of the water material to ensure a seamless integration. The introduction of a Phoenix FD foam texture, linked to a new material applied over the base water material, allows us to generate realistic foam, adding an essential element of realism to our ocean scene.
Throughout this tutorial, I share my knowledge and insights into creating a lifelike ocean using these powerful tools, offering you the skills and techniques needed to bring the majestic essence of the ocean into your digital projects. Join me in this deep dive into digital ocean creation, and let's bring the beauty of the sea to life together.

the problem with this foam map is that it doesn't have a falloff.... and that becomes very weird in animation as the foam simply goes from 100% to 0% with no falloff at all.... i found this very very bad and unrealistic
Hey fabien, I'm a big fan of your work you’re doing an amazing job. ❤ I do have a simple request if possible, can you please make a video on how to make drone shot animation flying over a landscape or city maybe by using Google maps projection mapping. thank you so much for everything you do❤❤❤
Struggling to achieved the ocean look until I realize that it only work for CPU render,. not GPU
How to create waves in ONE direction like real waves with wind weather?
How to make the same effect in corona? foam specifically
Thx good tutorial
Le rendu est fou! Merci!
how I can add the object and make a splashing and react with a wave, like a ship
to do this you would have to create a phoenix fd liquid simulator
Dear Fabien, what a great job. How do you did those mountains in the back? how to make low poly mountains for naval renderings?
YES ! merci mon gars !
Hello, very good tuto but i have a probleme. 5:45 When I change the color of the fog, I can't put a contrasting color, it's either completely blue, completely red, or completely green. and if I change this color a little darker, it becomes completely black. Any solutions to this problem?
As always very good content 👌 thx a lot!
The learning curve on your tutorials is super steep man! Thank you so much and Keep it up!
incredible explanation! Thank you very much
should it be a CPU render? I have a GPU with a video card, nothing works... and it takes a very long time to render only the CPU. The lesson is very good
Thats nice and so looking good... But kindly could you show us how you added mountains and and how you correct the colors to look like such a beautiful scene like this
Thank you, excellent tutorial!!!
Hi man!
Cool tutorial!
But...
IPR Frame fufer - as you showed!
But if I press F9 - it turns out a completely different render, the waves do not look like on IPR
What could be wrong?
thank you, so many information
beutyfull step by step adding as requirement element tutorial .
Looks amazing, thank you
bro please give me name song. Nice tutorial))
what processor did you use for this video?
Great tutorial and very good explanation, thanks :)
Thank you!
when I blend the two mtls,it seems that the water will lose reflection ?
Um.. Is there any way to do this in GPU mode?
Nice! as always!
Bro please do a car setup with ragdoll and demage
Thank you so much,.
just tested. the rendering result is really convincing. this is a very helpful tuto. but I have one question. TIA if you could answer me. when it comes to animation sequence. the wave doesn't seem consistently changing. they are just very random to adjacent frames. any idea how to make it a normal movements of the waves for animation?
If you already have phoenix, look into the pure ocean of a liquid sim
great man! Looking forward to seeing more of your tutorial
can I export this as alembic file to unreal engine 5 ?
unfortunatly no because its a displacement and not a real mesh
Good Tutorial bro.
Nice brother
Can you tell me animation how many frames and settings plz
Thanks a lot
Is it possible animated wave?
Waves are already animated , you can control them with the wind speed and rate of change
great
Excellent video , can I do this in corona ?
You can. Just use coronadisplacementmod instead of vray. Otherwise its the exact same
💛💛💛
Any way to get the phoenix maps for free without the simulation functionality?
only the simulation is under licensing, all the rendering related stuff is for free
@@ivaylokatev7405 very nice. so just install the trial and the maps should work
Thanks for tutorial, but your English is bad, sometimes you’re completely intelligible…
Thanks for your amazing support 🙂! I just do my best to talk in English that is not my first language. If it's not good enough for you, you can mute the video.
i like the french color range of the sound stay like this and creative love you all
