  • This session took place at the Delphi Economic Forum 2024. The video has been produced by the Delphi Economic Forum IX team.
The India-Middle East-Europe Corridor is, as proposed, transformative. It will be the first major new infrastructure corridor between the Indo-Pacific and the Mediterranean Sea; it is the first co-operative venture between like-minded countries in Southern Europe and India; and it is the first 21st century corridor, envisaged to create space for not just freight but, in time, the tradeables of the future from data to new energy. This panel will consider how these potentials can be realised - and how governments and the private sector can and must collaborate to make this vision a reality.
Is there a business case for this connectivity? How will it supplement or complement existing routes?
Are the countries of southern Europe ready to be the terminus of a new trade route from a rapidly growing Indo-Pacific?
What is the role of the transnational private sector in making this happen?
How can governments ensure that private participation is at a level commensurate with the breadth of this vision?
How can this geoeconomic imperative navigate regional politics in its journey to fruition?
    Opening Remarks:
Giorgos Gerapetritis, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic
    Speakers:
Thanos Dokos, National Security Advisor, Greece
Federico Banos-Lindner, Group SVP - Government Relations & Public Affairs, DP World

Great insights & engagement. Greece is making its stance clear day by day. Was happy to see Greek Mil Chief with team visit Delhi recently (after 2300 odd years). ORF's contribution towards bridging the gap, creating awareness & exposure to Bharatiya mindset is appreciated. Regds

A couple speakers called the IMEC a corridor of democracies. Pray, what democracies exist in the Middle East, described as the fulcrum of the IMEC?

They would have been democracies with stability, but the US & the West destroyed that possibility....read some real history before commenting here blindly. It's been going on since western colonialism and the Sykes picot agreement to divide up the middle east.
